We’re near Corpus Christi Texas but rural. You can see deer daily and wander in the woods if you’d like. As much privacy as you’d like but we always welcome friends around the pool or barn to relax. Stars are beautiful at night and you’re safe. It’s hot in the summer but comfortable the other two months of the year! About 25 minutes to Walmart in Callallen and orange grove is a bit closer at 15 minutes.
No smoking. Dogs welcome but respect our dog area around the house. It’s fenced and our dogs don’t run loose. Horses are friendly but please ask before you feed or approach them. Someone is always here so we don’t care when you leave as long as you close the gate behind you! Enjoy and respect our place.
Our drive is caliche but the main road is asphalt. We’re used to bringing in horse trailers and flatbeds so we’ve never had any trouble even if it’s raining. We try to keep limbs cut from drive and can always trim more if needed. No muddy spots just sandy loam for pastures. Have 30 amp hook up if needed.
This is a small ranch. It’s off a county road and we just park wherever the car stops!
We had blocked this month out but due to this virus craziness we figured we’d open it up in case anyone needs a place to land. Stay as long as needed and be safe!
Corpus Christi with it’s beaches as well as lake Mathis/Corpus Christi.
Julia and Tom offered us a safe haven at a time when we really needed it. And what a safe haven it is - a peaceful ranch with the company of sweet dogs and horses, and two kind, gracious, and generous hosts. Thank you, Julia and Tom, for opening your lovely home (and the gates!) to us.
Warm, welcoming and incredibly generous, Julia and Tom opened their place to weary full-timers impacted by Covid-19. We were allowed to chip-in on the ranch (even though it was not AT ALL required) and had fun doing it while contributing in a small way. They have 4 gentle, well-trained horses who are beautiful to watch (bring carrots and apples! :-)). Such a peaceful and restorative place. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! ‘Virtual’ hugs, new friends!!
We received the warmest of welcomes from Julia and Tom. A beautiful spot on their ranch to spend a few days. Received an equally warm welcome from the Lily, Uno, Cali (3 dogs) and the four horses too!
We had a great time - thank you Julia & Tom. We hope to see you Down Under soon to spend those Aussie Dollars!
Highly recommend this host.
It was a nice stay so we ask for one more night. It was quiet and our host so friendly. A perfect place near the city activity.
Julia and Tom are truly gracious hosts! as a horse lover I was invited to go with Julia to summon the horses to the barn for feeding time....beautiful and sweet horses too! Nice, quiet ranch, dark skies at night with twinkling stars in the sky....really enjoyed it immensely! Will try to head their way in the summertime again! Thank you so much for your hospitality!
This was my first boondockers welcome stay. Julia and Tom are delightful and accommodating hosts. My dog got sick and they even offered to take me to their local vet. We watched New Year's Eve fireworks on their porch and gathered around a fire pit by their pool in the evening. It was such a lovely stay I cannot say enough good things about this host.
Nous avons passé une merveilleux temps sur le ranch. Nous avons-nous été accueillis chaleureusement par nos hôtes. Les enfants ont bien aimé voir les chevaux et profiter de petits extra.
We had a wonderful time on the ranch. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts. The children enjoyed seeing the horses and enjoying the little extras.
thank you so much
We had a wonderful time at Julia and Tom's. A choice of parking spots, nice quiet and private site, and as much or little interaction as we wanted. It's a beautiful ranch and the dogs are friendly and fun. Julia, thanks for letting me help out in the studio...it was amazing! You sure do have some talents and it's easy to see how much you enjoy this life.
It was a good spot to explore the beaches from, and we even met some other boondockers we hope to keep in touch with, nice bonus.
Julia and Tom are somewhat new at BW but HOLY COW what awesome hosts!!! We became fast friends and I know if we ever head that way again we will certainly stop in and share an evening around a fire on their lovely back area.
All the horses and dogs know how kind and loving their mom and dad are. It was fun watching some of the daily activities that go on on a horse ranch.
We missed saying bye to Tom (bye Tom and thank you) but exchanged hugs with Julia guaranteeing you keep in touch!
I wish the best for them and hope they can get into an RV they love and do some traveling so they can meet wonderful BW hosts like they are!
Stayed for 2 nights while we toured the area and the USS Lexington. Excellent hosts, especially Julia and her dogs.
It seems she is a real Canadians home away from home person. Helpful with recommendations and very welcoming. Great place to stay close to Corpus Christi and hope she visits us and the Calgary Stampede so we can reciprocate the hospitality received by them.
Julia and Tom are extremely welcoming and friendly. They have a beautiful property. Only regret was we didn’t plan to stay longer.
We enjoyed watching the horses and walking the property.
The hosts were very friendly and interesting.
We sure hope to be back in the area to visit again.
Our host was so helpful and friendly, kept in contact to ensure we arrived safely and met us at the entrance gate. We had great conversations including an afternoon with fellow boondockerswelcome guests. Plenty of room and we appreciated having 30 amp power. Beautiful location and we’d love to return if we are in the area again.
Very welcome and accommodating. Julia was a great Host. Looking forward to returning to this location.
