A great midway stop for all the snowbirds traveling to Florida, or for those that want to take in the history of our great country. We are located one mile off of the Interstate and near many stores for refit if needed. There is a 20amp outlet that is available for use. We are 15 miles from Fredericksburg, 40 miles south of Washington DC and 10 miles from a Metro station to go to DC. We are 7 Miles from Quantico Marine Corp Base. Our community offers good walking trails, fishing, biking, swimming and we own a few kayaks that can be used.
If you are going south and need fuel I would suggest either COSTCO at exit 130 B or exit 104 for Diesel. Heading north Virginia is cheaper then anything North so fill up before you get here. If you need propane there are a few options near by that I can tell you about.
No smoking on property
No excessive drinking
Quiet hours from 10 pm until 7am
No illegal drugs
No charge for electric hookup unless you are using your A/C excessively because of air temps. then $5/day
Our property is on a hill and you will need to back in. The best way to back in is drive down the hill and turn around either in the tennis courts or just follow the road around and come back up the hill to back in. I can assist if needed. I park a 29 ft.Class A RV in the driveway. We live in a gated community so you will need to check in at the gate. Check in is easy we will just need to know full name of person driving.
I have extra, but you will need some leveling blocks for this location.
There is parking in front of your vehicle, or somewhere else in the driveway.

Our first boondocking experience. Could not have been better. The most helpful, kind, wonderful, interesting people!
We very much appreciated being able to stay here! The hosts were super super helpful getting us backed in and leveled, and were very helpful telling us about all of the great things to do in the area. These are the kind of people that you want to meet.
Such a great family and kind hosts. We stayed for 5 days and this was a great central location to several sites of interest in the area. They offered great tips and treated our daughter like one of their own. The parking spot is in their driveway which is pretty sloped but Mike is quick to get you set up with a big leveling block that is perfect. Great hospitality! Thanks Nerenbergs!
I had a great time with this host. They gave me some great ideas on what to visit in the local area. They had some local walking trails that I used, It was a lot of fun staying at their place . Would definitely want to stay here, if I travel through the area again.
The Nerenberg's were very accommodating. For an ole' man who doesn't move as I used to or get up and down, I was grateful to get a tire on the trailer changed. Done in 15 minutes. Fine folks and a wonderful family.
Thanks again for having me, Jim.
The Nerenbergs are lovely hosts. We had a mishap with leveling our RV (we are novices), and I thought we would loose a day of travel trying to get the minor damage repaired. But they had it fixed before we knew it! Really. Thanks Nerenberg! Salt of the earth!
Helpful with helps and hints on local things to do and see. Quiet neighborhood. Lovely family.
Thanks for the stay guys. it was a pleasure to meet you guys and get to know a little more about VA. Wishing you guys all the best
And outstanding hosts. They went out of their way to help us set up the camper and gave us a bunch of tourist information and useful directions. Lovely family, too. Too bad we couldn't stay longer. These are people you want to make friends with. Thank you so much for your warm welcome and hospitality!
Doc and I enjoyed our stay with the couple. They were very helpful and kind. They help me with the roof of my camper and I I am very appreciative. They suggested places to go sightseeing, which helped a lot considering I didn't know the area. Thank you again for having us I had a good time.
The location of their place is really nice! It’s in a gated community so it made me feel safe. They helped guide me into the driveway upon my arrival and then helped get me on leveling blocks. They are super friendly, calm and easy to communicate with. I am glad this was my first boondocking experience.
The host's father and son (and a son's friend) were like a pit crew that got us settled. They worked with us until we were safely locked down. The property is on a moderately steep hill and the driveway slopes to one side and to the back. To compensate, the host has made chocks to lift the rear of your rig (after backing in) and to level it (approximately) side-to-side. If you don't have jacks that will actually correct the side slope (we don't), he has plenty of wood for supports. We had trouble getting our load-levelers reattached when we left because of the slope and tilt; in the end, more wood blocks under the tongue jack helped. Before coming, be sure to CALL the host and discuss your rig with him. He will help you make it all work. If you want to use your own fresh water hose, bring at least 30 feet. Our 25' electric cable reached his outlet (20 amp) and he has a 30 amp plug adapter in place.
We stayed over for one night and our hosts were amazing! They helped us to back in and get us all set up on blocks they had made to help get us level. Mike and Joy were super friendly, nice, and willing to help with whatever they could. The neighborhood is really nice and we enjoyed walking around and checking out the marina and some of the walking trail. We arrived later in the day and left in the morning but wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy some more time getting to know Mike and Joy. They are really great hosts! Thanks!!!
We stayed 2 nights during holiday weekend so our hosts weren't home during our stay. There daughter came to say hi and ask if we needed anything though. Hosts had left our names with the gate so we had zero issues getting into community. We had little trouble getting level but our host had left plenty of wood to use along with our own blocks. We managed to get pretty level. He had left 5 ft extention cord to hook into. We had no issues with power.
He was in contact with us prior to and during arrival. Gave us plenty of options for entertainment. We enjoyed a walk/bike ride down to the park and Government Island where we seen some wildlife.
We enjoyed our stay here at the Gateway to History.
Our hosts were very kind and caring people. They truly go out of their way to help you. Top notch folks! I want to return again and hopefully spend some time trading travel adventures.
The Gateway to History; Mike & Joy greeted as we arrived at their location, helped us back-in, and helped us get our rig leveled and set up. Gave us access to electric hookups and water and even provided us with dinner for our first night’s stay. Thank you so much for letting stay at your place, for taking us in and treating like family. We are grateful and feel so blessed for everything you have provided us and continue to provide us. We are overwhelmed with your kindness and generosity. Thank you so much! You two are amazing!
OMG...hosts are friendly, helpful, and readily available. Back-in location not ideal for novices and spot does require some leveling but hosts go above and beyond by helping with it all! Perfectly situated for day trips to DC or, take advantage of tons of options right in the secure neighborhood. Highly recommended and look forward to staying again when we visit next!
These folks are amazing. Gated community so it’s safe and secure. Very welcoming hosts. Fellow RVers so they know the lingo and how to help you set up. Great location for visiting DC and northern VA. Will definitely be back!
