We live on 100 acres 10km northwest of the Village of Teeswater. Currently we have one spot with 15amp. Your pets are welcome to be off leash - we have plenty of room to roam along with trails through our woodlot. There is a free municipal dump station 20 min south of us in Wingham.
Access to local attractions will vary due to COVID. Though our region has not been severely impacted and will hopefully continue to open up more and more as this summer progresses - please come prepared to protect yourself and others with a mask if you plan to go into public places i.e. shopping & sightseeing.
The oldest creamery in Ontario is in Teeswater with a country store and restaurant (breakfast & lunch). The crossroads at Holyrood are home to our post office/general store! They serve VERY generous helpings of ice cream with record sales of over 2000 tubs of ice cream in a year!!
Lake Huron attractions abound within 1/2hr - 1hr. Kincardine, Port Elgin & Southampton each offer different experiences. The Bruce Nuclear Power station (the world's largest) is currently starting a huge upgrade which will continue to augment the rural and tourist aspects of our region.
During the second and third weekends in the month of August there are two First Nations within 1hr - 1 1/2h that host powwows. One of your hosts has worked in one of these communities.
Common sense and common courtesy :-)
The laneway is 1/4 mile long - you will not see the house from the road. When you arrive at the hill at the end of the lane keep going until you arrive in front of the house at the top of the hill. There are really no issues with access otherwise.
Tow vehicle parking is available next to your rig.
The property is well named, very quiet and peaceful. Hosts were very accommodating and helpful.
Definitely would stay again !!
K and C could not have been more welcoming for our first stay with BW. Their property is lovely and we enjoyed the stay so much!
This was out first Boondockers Welcome stay experience and we couldn't have asked for better hosts or property.
The communication was great leading up to our stay. We were nervous first timers so this helped!
Unfortunately we arrived later then we wanted to, but KandC were great and very understanding and accommodating!
We had some great conversations and learned a lot about them, the land and their travels during our stay. Their property is immaculate and the area they let us park in was by far nicer than most camp areas. We had a lot of space. We woke up to 10 or more wild turkeys roaming behind our rig!
Our only regrets are that we couldn't stay longer as we were only passing through on our way to a wedding... and also for keeping them up past their bed time with our great conversations!
Already planning out our next visit, and we feel truely blessed to now have memories of their Peace of the Country
That is how I would describe “A Peace of the Country.
We had a lovely visit with Hosts K and C who shared many of their travels and tips with us.
Can’t say enough about their hospitality and thoughtfulness.
Would definitely recommend.
Very enjoyable, friendly and helpful.total great people.
A beautiful property with wonderful hosts. We felt truly welcomed and had a great relaxing visit. Thank you again.
Upon arriving we were greeted by the host, who helped to guide our rig into our camping spot, helped fill up our fresh water tank, and provided us with an 30 amp hookup.
These hosts were awesome, and we shared some stories with them over a couple of drinks.
We were there for 4 nights.
Their farm felt more like a campground then most campgrounds do, it was full of trees and gardens, and nature. We saw 3 white tailed deer the first day, and 6 the next, and about 6 running through the field the final day. We also saw lots of wild turkeys, a blue heron, and a crane. Around the farm there are also walking trails if you are into hiking.
This place is one of the best boondocking sites that we visited to date, we are hoping to visit them again in the future. Safe travels!!!
We were excited to book a country get away and could not have chosen a better spot. The hosts were fabulous -every-step-of-the-way! It was our family's first trip in our new trailer and to no surprise, we forgot some items. The hosts quickly lent us whatever we needed & made us feel very comfortable/not inconvenienced in any way. What truly sweet, kind, helpful people! To top it off: the land was stunning, pristine & carefully cared for, with flourishing wild life, manicured walking/biking trails, & more than enough space to wander around freely. What a special place! We left feeling with a sense of wellness, optimism & overall, that we had made new friends! Thank you for hosting our family!
