Two acres with lots of trees. Sunny or shaded spot as preferred. Creek runs behind property (no easy access at the moment--perhaps this Fall).. Less than a mile off interstate.. Full Service Truck Stop including 24 hr restaurant at exit. edit: After 50+ years of service, Farris Truck Stop ceased business on 1 May 2021 :(
Stated 2 max units. but could easily acomodate 5 or more class Bs or small motorhomes (Navion/View...) if caravaning, and pure boondocking.
Well behaved pets welcome off leash anywhere on property
Only 20 amp service available for a single unit to keep batteries topped off, maybe microwave or electric appliance. No electric heaters, water heater or A/C please.
Water available to top off tanks upon arrival or departure. Please do not stay hooked up.
Generator quiet hours from 10p--6a (unless ridiulously hot or cold, which can happen here)
2 night limit is negotiable..
Well behaved pets are welcome to explore the property at your discretion (Well behaved pet owners will of course clean up behind their pets)
Campfires welcome, but no burning trash. I have no scheduled trash pick up, so please pack it out with you.
Asphalt street to house. Grass with some gravel in circle driveway around house. There is a pretty steep breakover from State Highway to city street. Not a problem in my 25' motorhome with 10' utility trailer, nor in 45' charter bus. I do try to keep walnut tree branches in north drive from hanging too low, but they sometimes get ahead of me, so watch those.
Circle driveway (all the way around house) can accommodate toad without disconnecting if preferred. Otherwise, very flexible.
Not accessible after significant snowfall. Streets clear, but no way to clear driveways.
35 miles to Downtown Kansas City. Good base camp to explore all KC has to offer. Weston MO, Atchison Ks or Leavenworth KS offer a lot for history buffs, less than 40 minutes away.
He was an excellent host who helped us get settled in and was very nice to talk to.
Tucked away in a little green set of woods near a creek. 15amp service much appreciated in the heat.
The host provided a range of shady sites to choose from. We enjoyed hearing some of his RV tales and sharing some of ours. Nice, well behaved dog too.
Our stay at Little Cabin in the Woods was our first time with Boondocker Welcome! The host was super friendly. We felt like we had an immediate bond. He "loaned" us a cord to hook up with electricity. It was so hot that night that we couldn't possibly have slept without air- conditioning. We slept like babies! We highly recommend this spot and would love to go back.
The host and space were wonderful. We enjoyed a great nights sleep and great conversation with the host before our departure. We would definitely stay here again.
Great host. I had guestions about our vacation and he gave us lots of helpful brochures.
Plenty of places to park on the 2 acres. We stayed right in front of fireplace and next to two busy bird feeders. Great friendly host! Quiet, wooded, convenient to highway with a secluded atmosphere. We highly recommend staying here.
Gene was most helpful. When we arrived he walked us all around the property showing us any possible tree branches, etc. It was a peaceful and quiet setting, and our stay here was most enjoyable. Thanks Gene!
Our host was out of town the weekend we needed, but graciously allowed us to stay anyway. Such great communication. We hope to meet them in person one day. It was easy to find, easy to park and the way they have it set up, it's as nice as any state park. A wood fire stove and wood were avail. Solar lights line the drive to make night backing easier. 20amp avail. Due to potential freeze, the water was turned off, but no problem for us. We love our stay.
This host had inviting boondockers to stay on his property when he was looking for this house. Not only is there easy access and lots of flat solid ground, but the area is lush with trees and vegetation. It was pretty quiet when I was there. The highway is not far away but it could not be heard. I would definitely stay there again.
The host was working when were due to arrive. He told us to go ahead and set up. He was very good with directions for where to park.
We had a nice long chat with him when he got off work and again the next morning.
We would definitely stay here again. It’s a nice quiet spot and easy to get to.
Do to travel difficulties with wind the host was not able to make it back home before my arrival time. He graciously contacted me to let me know and also offered to let me stay overnight in his absence. Communication was good throughout. I didn't have any problems getting into or out of the space that was available. While I did not need water it was offered for tank fill-up if needed. Electrical availability was minimal but that was okay for me. It was a pleasant night and on my departure was only a few minutes to the interstate. Thanks again for your generosity! Sincerely appreciated
We are on a cross country trip trying to make time so we pulled in early evening. We had good directions and had no problem finding the place. It was easy to get into in our 25' motorhome and it looks like you could definitely get a little bigger MH or TT in there. We loved being back in the trees and away from the rest of the world. Very cool that the owner chooses to share this woodsy spot. We actually had time to sit outside and eat dinner before dark and it was good to unwind under the trees after a long day driving.
We arrive at about 6pm and we’re on the road the next morning at 6:30 so didn’t really get to know host. He met us upon arrival and showed us where we could park. His place was easy in and easy out. He offered electricity and water. We took advantage of the power but not the water. Overall nice place. Even had a place to have a campfire. He offered that too, but we were bone tired And just wanted food and sleep. We would stay there again.
RVCamper could not have been a more pleasant or accommodating host. He showed us around and let us choose our site. He then made sure that we had water and brought out an electrical cord for our power needs. A great stay.
Host was out in his RV, yet graciously offered to host us and gave detailed instructions that made our arrival comfortable and easy. We had a great night’s sleep and a nice spot to hang with trees all around.
Gene was a great host. He greeted us when we arrived to show us around the property. Enough room to maneuver, but may be tight for a larger rig's. He was very accommodating and provided both water and power. I would definitely stay there again.
Little Cabin in the Woods has good directions and easy access. We used the 20 amp electric hookup but didn’t need other amenities. Didn’t get to meet our host but communications via BoondockersWelcome were good. T-Mobile signal was four bars. Backed in along the north side of the property but could have driven in along the south side of the property as the grassy access goes all the way around the back of the house to the same area we backed into. There were some overhanging trees but nothing that presented a problem. Weather was warm and humid on arrival but we got a good thunderstorm and hail overnight. We would certainly stay here again if we are in the area.
RVCamper could not have been more helpful. Even though his plans were changing he still allowed us to stay with him. We are Very grateful!
Thank you to our amazing host for a wonderful stay. Beautiful wooded property with lots of shade! Our host was so friendly and helpful, and we can’t thank him enough for the use of electricity and water! Highly recommended!
My visit was much too short! I would have loved to spend more time at the spot! Host was very kind and helpful and this place is very clued it in safe even though there is traffic nearby it seems like you’re in the middle of the woods. I hope I get to stay here again and for a longer period.
Little Cabin in the Woods was the perfect spot for our first leg of our trip to South Dakota. It is right off of I29 and easy to find. It was our first Boondockers Welcome stay and his first hosting. After our request was accepted, he informed us he would have to work late but still allowed us to stay. He provided us with 20 amp service which allowed us to use our microwave and coffee pot in our inverterless Roadtrek. After arriving home late, he spent time chatting with us and even gave me some brochures of the Badlands area. I would definitely stay at Little Cabin in the Woods again if my travels bring me through this area.
