Rural area but a day trip to the southern Maine coast or the New Hampshire Mountains.
We do request that pets be on a leash. There is an area that you can walk them off leash on a trail close by.
Appreciate no loud parties as parking area is close to our home.
Main road turns to dirt for about 1/4 mile
Plenty of room to park tow vehicle and or tow trailer elsewhere on property.
Fifth wheel units longer than thirty feet might be limited to turning around a shed for hookups. We don’t have any problem with forty three foot Motor Home making the turn. Plenty of room to pull forward and back up if necessary.
Greater Portland Maine attractions. Entire Southern Maine coast. Freeport. Conway New Hampshire.
Hosts were great with communication and getting us set up upon arrival. We loved visiting with them and their sweet dog Kai. Great location for exploring the area, thanks!
The stay with this host had it all. First off, they were very friendly and personable. Second, the setup site was ideal; plenty of room, level, and accessible hookups. Third, the location gave us numerous options to explore the area. So, overall, you could not get a better combination to make ideal stay.
My wife and I had a wonderful time staying here. We wish that we had the time to stay for another day, but had to get back home to our business. At the risk of repeating other reviews here, Jim and Mona are two awesome people! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with them and we will definitely be back!
Great launching pad to Kennebunkport, Cape Elizabeth and Portland. Genuinely nice hosts, so helpful and friendly. Good solid people. Parking is right next their home, but very private due to the layout. We would definitely stay again.
We loved our stay with J&MWoods! Had such great visits and learned lots! We fell in love with their sweet great Dane, Kai. They were very helpful in telling us about places to go and how to get there. Would stay again if we're in the area again!
We stayed with J&M Woods for several days and thoroughly enjoyed our time there! Our parking place was level and spacious, even for our 45 foot rig. J&M, along with their beautiful, sweet dog, were always available, but also gave us plenty of space. We have five children and J&M were so kind and good with the kids. We were the recipients of good things from M’s garden, and J offered his tools and assistance when we had a major repair to make on our rig. J&M went so far above and beyond when they connected us with someone local from whom to purchase lobster, and then did a whole lobster meal with us! So fun! We loved our time there and our kids begged for just one more day! Thank you so much for your generosity and friendship.
Our favorite BW stop yet! J&M were awesome hosts. Very quiet place in the woods. Nice private road to walk the dog. Kai and our dog had a nice time playing together. We talked for hours and they had great recommendations for what to do and where to get lobster. We'll definitely try to stay at their place again when we are in Maine.
Being welcomed in by J and shown to a level gravel parking spot was like coming back to a friend’s home. The quiet solitude of the Maine woods where birds sing and their chickens roam free! We were later greeted by M and their dog, Kai. Kai is the best & knows how to welcome back friends! He even made friends with our 2 new puppies, our 13wk old had never seen a dog that big - quite funny! Thanks for sharing your great home with us & being the best people we could ever expect to meet through our BW travel.
Nice host. He was waiting for us when we pulled up and we were able to get settled quickly. It was a beautiful spot and we will definitely stop by again.
Stayed for one night and would definitely stay again! Very accommodating and eager to help.
J and M are wonderful host that have ample space made available for us Boondockers of all sizes. Quit and peaceful environment
It was a pleasure to get to know them We would definitely stay there again if we are in the area !
The hosts were very accommodating. We had a fire and some very nice conversation. Their Great Danes are very friendly and the hosts are both very charming interesting people. Next time we come down we have to get more secrets for cooking Maine seafood. Top notch experience all around, and they gave us a hand made gift. Thank you for your kind hospitality and hope to see you again on the road.
Great place in the Maine woods; near lobster country and old seashore dwelling. We drove lots of back roads and rested. Nice folks!
Thank you to both of you for being amazing hosts. Loved our night around the bonfire, meeting the pups and getting to sleep on your land with perfect view of the stars every night. Super kind to let us plug in and not deal with 95 degree weather!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this location. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and I had easy access to water and electric when I needed it. Thank you so much again for letting me stay, I hope if you’re reading this review you are able to stop by. You won’t regret it.
Our hosts have lots of road time and were nice enough to spend an evening around the campfire with us sharing stories . this is a great location in a rural setting yet a short ride to Maine coast or New Hampshire mountains
J & M are such accommodating hosts. They truly have the gift of hospitality. They spent at least an hour with me getting hooked up to their internet so that I could work for a couple of days. The gifts they gave us when we left were so heartfelt. Staying with them was a true blessing from above. What a very peaceful place in the woods they have😊😊❤️❤️
Great location, and wonderful hosts. Very welcoming and generous, and provided encouraging details about their trips to Alaska.
We loved this spot, and are so grateful to our hosts for letting us stay. It's really ideally situated for exploring Portland and the surrounding beaches and the hosts are generous with the amenities. Thanks for the lovely going away surprise for my wife, too! Hope to cross paths again.
J&M Woods were fantastic hosts. They were super accommodating and fun to socialize with. They even had a fire one night and invited us to join them there. They are well traveled campers so walk the talk.
Their property is a bit of a working farm. Located at the end of a private dirt road, complete with chickens, their two great danes and Mona keep a highly productive vegetable garden. The dirt lot they parked us in has plenty of open space to manuever around and their location is central to access to both south coast and Sabago Lake.
We look forward to staying there again.
Jcos were lovely hosts. Their property was easy to reach yet remote, rustic, and typical Maine wooded area. They gladly let us hook up to their electric as it was a bit warm in the Sprinter for the dogs and with other Boondockers on the property we did not want to run the generator. Their adorable, giant dog Kai made quick friends with ours. They had fun toys and equipment related to traveling to show and share. They are super well travelled and had great stories around their fire pit with the chickens roaming about. So conveniently located to the Portland area on our way home as a perfect stop over. Hope they come visit us some time.
So relaxing! J&M are such an easy going and welcoming couple. They are fountains of experience and helpful information. We hope to wind our way through their neck of the woods again some day. So generous with their time, good water, electricity and dog treats. Their Great Danes are a joy and made our Goldens look small!
Site was excellent!! Guest went out of his way with assisting us when our tow vehicle had a dead battery. Luckily he had a charger and was able to jump our car. Had a great visit with Him and his wife, and also met several of their kids as they were having a family get together for his wife and they invited us to join them. Fantastic visit!!
What a great spot! Quiet, reliable electricity, plenty of space for us and the pups. Hosts were so kind and helpful. Thanks so much!!!
Loved waking to the melodious sounds of birds and the sites of truly free-ranging chickens all around my RV. Hosts had their own excursion but were easily available via text for my several inquiries, being a struggling newbie RVer.
Thank goodness for Boondockers!
J&M are friendly and hospitable. Expect willingness to chat and help solve minor repairs on your rv. They had a fire most of the nights were there. Would stay again, their dogs are gentle as anything.
Jim and Mona were both so kind, generous and welcoming and their home in the woods is peaceful and quiet and lovely. This was our first BW stay, and they greeted us when we came and when we hugged and left. In between, we spent hours in conversation, and sharing stories around their fire pit. We could have talked for hours more, and hopefully sometime we will. Mona is an avid gardener and crafter and she gifted us with her (useful!) crafts. We had a great beginning here. Thank you so much.
J&M Woods is so peaceful and beautiful, and the hosts are so friendly! We had a wonderful stay, and would love to come back in the future! Thank you!!!
We had the best time there! Amazing people with wonderfull peaceful please! Want to come again!!
This location is very private and peaceful. We have an issue with our old RV and Jcos drove me to a local place to get help. Very sweet! I would love to have stayed longer.
These guys were THE nicest people! Went out of their way to make you feel right at home. Shared some of their experiences, which we love to hear about. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. a very quiet, level spot.
The BEST hosts! These people know how to make you feel at home. We can’t wait to come back and stay again!
We really enjoyed our two nights at J & M Woods. No issues at all getting in with a 40' 5er as they have tons of room to pull forward and then very easily back into a couple of different places. Just follow their directions in and go to the end of their dead-end road and no problem. We loved talking with J & M about travels, places to see, life on the road, and life in general! (The dogs are both the biggest and best behaved pets I've ever met.) We did a day trip into Portland and had a good visit to Fort Williams Park and Portland Head Lighthouse.
Thanks for having us! We'll see you down the road!
I'll definitely be coming back! Jim met me as I drove in and helped me park, then showed me the best spots to take my dog off-leash. He and Mona are fantastic hosts and the location was the tops - rural, but just a hop to Portland. I'll definitely be back!
Enjoyed our weekend at a great boondocker spot! J met us on arrival and showed us where to go and offered electric and water. Peaceful area surrounded by woods. Our hosts were gracious, friendly, and helpful: recommended a great seafood restaurant near the ocean. We traded fun and interesting camping adventures with our hosts and a fellow boondocker.
Hope to get back another time :-)
J&M Woods is a beautiful, secluded property surrounded by woods. They have two huge, friendly, well behaved great danes and a bunch of chickens. Hosts are very friendly and we chatted for quite some time. They recommended a number of nearby places to visit. Our time here is short but we did go see the lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, ME (Portland Head Light). What a great quick trip. What a great host!
Great spot, very private and 50 amp hookup ! J & M are the best.
J&M were extraordinarily welcoming, kind, and helpful. Their rural property is beautiful with plenty of room for a large rig plus water and electric hookup! The best part was getting to know this lovely couple and sharing stories. Thank you!
Jcos are a super welcoming and friendly couple. They met us as we came in and helped us get settled. They provided us with water and electricity and gave us advice about where to go. We ended up arriving a day late due to weather and was so sad not be able to spend more time with them. Our son LOVED their dogs and chicken. Hope to meet up with them again
When I arrived I was greeted and the host hooked up my electric. So helpful. Chickens, Great Danes, other boondockers and their generosity will be remembered for years to come! I hope to be back!
This was our second trip back here to J & M ‘s, they were off on their own great adventure during our first few days. But we felt like we were home & we made sure things we OK and done on schedule. We were so happy to greet them when they arrived & to get a big welcome from our 2 best boys- their dogs have become our dogs & we love them so!
This is the Best of Boondockers - the Best Hosts & a place where you feel like you are home!
Thanks so much J & M! Highly Recommend.
Our hosts invited us to stay again for a few days on the way back South to our house. Friendly hospitable people. I wish them the absolute best!
We had the Best time at this small farm at the end of the road. A quiet and peaceful setting to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Beautiful Fall Foliage colors, hosts had a Camp Fire for us & other Boondockers, and the fun Free Range chickens. They are the Best Hosts & their 2 amazing dogs made us fall in love with them instantly. We arrived as strangers & leave as friends. Thanks so very much J & M! We highly recommend & we hope to see you again in our travels, maybe out West somewhere!
We super loved staying at J&M Woods! Our hosts were so great! They were there to welcome us and told us a bunch of places to visit in the area. They gifted us eggs from their chickens and home-baked treats for my kids. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Maine!
It was a blast!!
The hosts are so friendly, the area is beautiful. Would love to visit again!
This was our first boondocker and the hosts were amazing. Great site, very nice people and their neighbors have a farm where we were able to buy some lamb. Would love to come back Bob and Margaret
Really generous hosts, really enjoyed my stay and loved getting to know them. Would definitely recommend and would love to return if in the area. They’ve got really cool 😎 pups too.
I have no adequate words to describe Jim and Mona, but I can say ill remember them, their hospitality and their beautiful property for the rest of my life.
We were welcomed and we felt like we were adopted by Jim and Mona from day one. Besides offering us their perfect spot to stay, we were thought how to prepare perfectly cooked Maine lobster, invited over to the bonfire, helped with hookups, and probably few more things im missing right now...
We are relatively new to the camping lifestyle and the tips we got from both are priceless... as I said I dont know how to put in words our experiences here. We will be forever grateful!!!
This was a true all American experience for me and I will forever cherish it. Thank you Jim and Mona!!!
This was our first Boondockers experience as guests. We have hosted but never been guests. JCOS were the perfect hosts! The spot was perfect: level, with water and electric hook-up. There was one other camper there and JCOS hosted a campfire for all of us. We had a wonderful time exchanging travel stories and getting tips from each other of places to stay and things to do when traveling. The site is just close enough to the Maine coast that a day trip isn't hard at all (about 17 miles) but far enough away that you aren't in the middle of tourists. We had a great time exploring the Maine coast with lots of good tips from JCOS on what to do and see. They also told us about a blueberry farm about 3 miles away that had lots of good blueberries. If you visit them in August or September be sure to go get blueberries. Thank you JCOS! You will probably see us again next year.
I had such a wonderful time at this beautiful small farm at the end of the road, which is the perfect place to get away. Both J&M welcomed me when I arrived and helped me get set up. There are many hiking and logging trails nearby to explore. On Friday evening, they hosted a wonderful campfire fire for me and the other guests who were visiting from Vermont. My visit couldn't have been better. They are super friendly hosts with an amazing location in southern Maine.
We have new friends in Maine!! J and M were the best hosts we could have had for our 1st experience. They shared a campfire with us and allowed our well behaved dogs to enjoy the property. Thank you for the fantastic experience and PLEASE take care of yourselves so we can see you on the road in the future!! Blessings, Mike and Amy
We feel so lucky to have come across this boondocking location. They are fabulous. All of the reviews are correct! Thank you so much for your hospitality and the gift. We enjoyed our stay and hope to visit with you again in the near future.
There aren't words to express the kindness that was given to me and my pup! J&M are two of the sweetest people I've known. I'm a newbie to fulltime RV'ing and they took me under their wings and shared some of their experiences... including extensive practice with backing up my trailer! Their time is precious and they shared so much of it with me.
Very accommodating. Super nice folks and a beautiful setting. Two 👍👍 up! Lots to do in the area. Half an hour drive to the shore. Great place to stay.
I felt so welcome and really enjoyed hanging out with my new hosts friends. They had so many great stories and playing with the dogs and getting to tour the garden was extra nice. Gave me great advice for neat local towns to explore and Portland is really close as well. I especially enjoyed watching the chipmunks out my window while working on my computer in the morning and spending time hanging out with the hosts and other guests at the campfires. Thank you so much my new friends!!!
As others have said, you come as strangers and leave as friends. Absolutely wonderful hosts and fur babies. We hope to have them come visit is too!
This location is wonderful and private with so many options to park and there are atv/snowmobile/mountain bikes trails surrounding the property. There are plenty of water spots for fishing, swimming, and boating and a quick drive to all the popular Maine spots!
We hope to visit again. Thank you so very much J&M Woods!
We had such a good time with J+M! These are the type of people you want to have as life long friends. Our parking spot was great. We had a fun time at the fire and seeing some local sights. Their two dogs we love. Looking forward to seeing these wonderful people again!
We had a great stay at J&M Woods, they were very friendly and helpful, and have a great location by the woods! Highly recommended! Thank you very much to our hosts!
Jcos is a convenient location when visiting the Portland area. Wonderful, friendly people that we truly enjoyed getting to know and visiting with around the campfire!! Hope our paths cross again in future travels.
Truly enjoyed our time here. J&M Woods were the most hospitable host we have had. Invited us for a fire pit each night with wonderful conversation. They're Great Danes were loving dogs who are fantastic with people. They provide lots of space to park, the road in is a dirt road but easy enough to maneuver. And the location is close enough to enjoy a day trip to any of the southern Maine coastal areas. Thank you both for such a wonderful stay!!
If you are looking for a very quiet place in the country, this is your place. Our host warmly greeted us as we pulled into the driveway and helped us quickly get situated and set up. Soon we were all sitting around a campfire sharing stories.
There is more than enough room to maneuver around in the driveway. Directions provided by the host were spot on, and we had no trouble finding it. There is plenty of clearance to get any large rig in here. Everything is exactly as described.
We highly recommend J&M Woods if you are ever in this area.
They are both hardworking people and we’re there when we got there, even though we were running late from a flat tire, to show us where we can park!! This was our 35th wedding anniversary. After working at our craft fair on Saturday, we drove around for the day visiting old memories in the area. Wonderful thing about boondockers is that some of the locations may seem out of the way for some people but that’s how you get to meet families like this. Couldn’t have been happier
