Description

This site is approximately 15 miles west of Salina, Kansas at the intersection of Interstate 135 and 70. It is secluded and the gravel road is traveled only by the two families living on the road, and the mailman. It is private, however you will hear the interstate traffic only 1/2 mile to the south.

House Rules

No Drugs, no alcoholics, smoking butts are trash, no trash left on site (you pack it in and you pack it out), no dumping of gray or black water. Dry camping only. This is a prairie and the camping area is surrounded by tall grass prairie so fires in fire pit only. Generators are fine. Pickup truck camping and/or Tent okay. Friendly pets okay.

Access Road Conditions

Heading EAST on I70, take exit 238:
Your choice is
1. from the interstate exit, turn north for 1.5 mile on asphalt Brookville road. Then turn right on Watkins Road for 3 miles on a county gravel road. Turning right on to Reese Road, a county gravel road, for one mile. Then back right on Pleasant Hill for 1.5 miles on a county gravel road. The road turns north as Mahan Rd and the site is visible from the county road. The easement road is on the left, it is a 20 foot wide easement road and will be fairly tight for larger vehicles, however semis navigated this road to install cell tower equipment, so it is possible. (RR tie has a "Boon Dockers" sign)
2. from the interstate exit, turn south on Brookville Rd for 1.0 mile on asphalt road. Then turn left on Stimmel Rd for 3 miles (on a county gravel road). Turning left on Reese Rd (a county gravel road) going back under the interstate and over a rail road track for one mile. Then back left on Pleasant Hill Rd for 1.5 miles on a county gravel road. The road turns north as Mahan Rd and the site is visible on your left from the county road. The easement road is on the left, it is a 20 foot wide easement road and will be fairly tight for larger vehicles, however semis navigated this road to install cell tower equipment, so it is possible. Follow the road to the mowed grass 'driveway' that goes back to the pond. (RR tie has a "Boon Dockers" sign)

Heading WEST on I70 take exit 244. Then head north (right) for 1.5 miles to Watkins Road. This is a gravel county road. Turn left (west) on Watkins for 4 miles to "Reese Rd". Turn left (south) on Reese road for 1 mile. Turn left (west) on Pleasant Hill road and drive for 1.5 miles as it turns north to Mahan Road. Once headed north, look to the left (west) for a driveway. Take the driveway (RR tie post has a "Boon Dockers" sign) to the mowed grass area to the pond. The pond area is mowed for your use.

Tow Vehicle Parking Details

Tow vehicle will need to be removed while on the county road, prior to turning onto the easement road and camp area. The turn may be too tight to navigate with tow vehicle.
