Suggested Local Attractions

33 stops on the ultimate fall foliage road trip in Upstate NY.

I suggest New York state museum and state plaza is about 30 miles from our home. in downtown Albany. You can also go up to an observation room on top of Corning Tower state office building across the street from the museum. As I recall it is free to go up to the observation deck for a breathtaking view. The observation deck is located on the 42nd floor. views of Albany, the Plaza, and surrounding areas can be enjoyed. Also visible are the Hudson River Valley, the Port of Albany, large portions of the city and its government, the foothills of the
Adirondacks, the Catskills, and the Berkshires of western Massachusetts.
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (LAST CHECK-IN AT 3:45 p.m.).

There is a historic Carousel on the top floor of the museum as well a young family will enjoy.

Museum address is
Address: 222 Madison Ave, Albany, NY 12230

There is free parking after 2 PM very close to the state museum in the parking lot of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle Street, Albany, New York 12202 My wife Heather takes tours groups there frequently and almost always has parking.

If you need RV parts or service Bob's is close.
Bob’s Camper & RV
PHONE: (413) 458-3093
They are about 15 miles from us and have a small but well stocked parts department that will order parts and get the quickly at a fair price. They sell new and used campers and have a service department too.

Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort,

If you want to fish. In Massachusetts children under 15 do not need a license. I would suggest Pontoosuc lake. If adults want to fish you can get Massachusetts fishing license at Dave’s Sporting Goods just after the lake. 30 min (21.5 mi) via US-20 W from our home.

Pontoosuc Lake ( ) in Google Maps.

The Stephentown Library is very close to us, It would be a short walk to get there. They are open till 6 PM.

Cumberland Farms 24 hour C store and gas station is about 2 miles from our house. it would be a long walk from our house

The hosts were not at home so I appreciate still being able to stay the night!

A hiding place for the Holiday weekend

The host and neighbors have mowed deep into the land so that in good weather you can back all the way back and kind of hide away from the public. You are quite a bit of distant from any of the neighbors' houses. We also took the whole family and dogs on leash into the forest and had two really good walks! We love this BW spot! Gorgeous sunsets!

Pleasant Spot

Nice spot in a peaceful farming community. While we didn't get to meet our hosts, they were so helpful: allowed us to top off our water and directed us to an area to exercise the dogs. Enjoyed visiting the Heritage Center too!

Chickens galore

We had an enjoyable visit with our hosts discussing a whole variety of subjects.
Enjoyed the chickens and ducks and had a very sound nights sleep.
Surrounding countryside is beautiful rolling hills, forests old cemeteries.

Fantastic place to park and rest

This was our first Boondockers Welcome location and we could not have been made more welcome! NY+MA was so helpful with allowing us to borrow tools to complete the wiring from our batteries to inverter, gave us fresh eggs and fresh water on our way out, even offered us a chicken. We wish we could have stayed longer, but we were just passing through this area pretty quick. Thank you so much!!!
