Since the RV location is on the farm and near the barn, we are concerned about fires. Having said that, there is a Webber BBQ that can be used on the farm porch. We are located directly across from the Fair Grounds and close to Hwy 11 (although there is no direct access). The location of the actual RV site is very pretty and walkable to Town. During the week, Gene is there from about 5:30 pm and I 'pop' in and out during the days. We are often around on the weekends. If you have time, you can easily rent kayaks and canoes to enjoy on many of our small rivers and lakes. There many great restaurants and entertainment close by.
NO fires or smoking on the property due to the concern of barn (I believe it is over 100 years old)
Young children must be watched carefully around the donkey. Although Ned is friendly, he is still an animal. Ned LOVES carrots...but only give one or two.
All gates must be kept closed and no going into the paddock with Ned.
The barn (and kittens) are available only when Gene and I are there.
But the most important rule is 'that you must have fun!'.
Roads are great. Flat and well maintained.
On the farm, near RV
We do a lot of last minute trips in the summer, but feel free to give us a shout and see if we can accommodate you.
If you have young children, Santa's Village is an amazing attraction. There are also numerous street fairs and activities usually every weekend. Algonquin Park is about 30 minutes and there are some wonderful biking/hiking trails nearby.
This was our first ever Boondocker‘s experience. Although we got rained on it was still a very nice night at the farm. It was quiet and comfortable. Thank you to our hosts for allowing us to stay
This was our first time staying with a Boondockers Welcome host and it was a most positive experience. We were met by a friendly greeter and made to feel very welcome. The location was quite suitable for our exploration of the local area and their setup for boondockers is ideal. We can highly recommend Lay Back Farm.
and we're back again!
Had another really nice stay, Cottage27 are super hosts. We love the little farm parking! Quiet and comfortable. If you visit, be sure to bring a handful of carrots for Ned!
Beautiful piece of property that we enjoyed immensely. Very quiet spot and the hosts were quite friendly and more than welcoming.
Thank you for accommodating us ;)
The stay here was great. The hosts were away and allowed us to use their trailer site and all services, unneeded, but appreciated.
Warren & Lorna.....
We pulled into Lay Back Farm and said ‘WOW’. What lay before us was a pristine farm and a spot for our our rig welcoming us. Even better was a water and hydro hookup. I quickly got on the internet to review the Host instructions. I wanted to explore right away and didn’t want to break any rules. There was a spectacular view of land and an old beautiful barn and other outbuildings that had places to sit and relax. And not to forget Ned the donkey! Our hosts were more than accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed and sharing information about local shops and neat places. Because of our hosts we have decided to stay another night in this area and view the stars at Torrence Barrows, eat pizza at Pie and listen to a parking lot concert! We didn’t realize how much we could do in this area and next time we will plan a little better. But for now we are over the moon that we had the opportunity to meet our gracious host and stay at Lay Back Farm!
P & G are wonderful hosts who even offered us refuge during a tornado warning! We enjoyed meeting Ned the donkey and their place is very close to hiking, biking and water. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!
Had a nice visit, and a perfect Landing Pad! Beautiful location, and handy to Haliburton Highlands, the Muskoka Lakes area and Algonquin Provincial Park.
What a great feeling to be welcomed back😊
We even had a bike 🚴ride to the hosts beautiful Lake Home and had a 🍸 drink a nice conversation.
Thanks so very much for the fun and great Hospitality👍
We feel like at home on your beautiful and peaceful property. Also great to come back any time we're in Bracebridge is an amazing feeling, due to your kindness and generosity.
One of our visits we may have a chance to see you both.
All the best and God bless you.
Regula and Walter
PS: sorry for this late comment!
We were warmly welcomed and had some conversations, but our hosts were not well😢
The property was a beautiful farm and we felt safe.
Hope to come back some time or meet each other while traveling🚙
All the best.
Our one night stay was an enjoyable experience. We have just great memories of meeting our Hosts.
Thank You for having us.
We were greeted and assisted to get set up. We connected to their electricity which was very helpful. We then sat on their porch and had nice talk with our hosts. A very pleasant weekend.
The hosts couldnt have been more helpful and kind, they went totally above and beyond.
They are exactly what BDW is about, they love to meet people and share their beutiful space with like minded people. They have a deep passion and knowledge of the area and were more than happy discuss over a cold beer. We shared many meals and drinks during our stay it was like being with old friends.
Highly recommend Lay Back Farm and really hope they have some great experiences when they start using the other side of boondockers welcome.
Thanks again, we will be back again one day. :)
