Near Interstate 35. Will direct if requested. Camp sites are on rocked drive, surrounded by grass where kids can play, well behaved dogs unleashed, or walked, etc. Farmstead is about 3 acres surrounded by cropland on the edge of a small town population 850, but near a town of 4,000 where groceries, gas, restaurants are available. Quiet, safe camping for a night or two. We have beautiful sunsets over the cornfields....
Treat us like you would want others to treat you. Relax and enjoy a peaceful night.
Close to Interstate 35, 1.6 miles of paved highway, a mile of gravel. Alternate route avoids all but .2 of a mile of gravel. Will explain when contacted. No sharp turns, hills or bridges, easy drive. Trailers, 40ft., or so, may take a little maneuvering to park, but ample room to do so. Drive is asphalt off gravel rd., so may also be a little tight, but certainly manageable. Sites do require some backing skill, but plenty of room to make adjustments.
In most cases units may remain hitched if desired. Limited backup skills required, plenty of room to maneuver.
Towed vehicles on large Class A units may need to be disconnected??? Plenty of room on property to park the vehicle, next to coach or nearby. Can accommodate one 40 ft. Class A, maybe two, would need to visit.
Travel spontaneously during the summer, lot of spur of the moment decisions. But give us a call we are home most of the time and will sure try to accommodate you..
In the middle of nowhere, close to lots of amenities. Des Moines, 25 minutes, suburb of Ankeny is 15 min., so is Ames and Iowa State University where beautiful Reiman Gardens is located. Bike trail a short walk which connects to miles of trails all the way to state capital, or simply ride or take a leisurely walk through the downtown. We can offer some ideas, if desired.
We’re so appreciate of lazyfarmercamp’s hospitality. We were due to arrive late in the Des Moines area and intended to stay at a rest area before coming at the hosts site in the morning. They so graciously invited us to stay that extra night (even though we arrived so late) so that we didn’t have to sleep at the rest area.
They really made us feel welcome and let our toddler and cats explore all over. Beautiful farm, garden, and great location. We really enjoyed talking to them and seeing the beautiful projects they are working on.
If we’re in the area again, we look forward to stopping by.
What a gem. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful and peaceful.
Nice place to stay for a night. We had our 33 ft 5th wheel and were able to jocky in as needed. Right on edge of town, but we managed to drive by it a few times, when close give host a call, they will help you find it, address was on rock in yard, we just missed it.Very nice hosts.
Had a great and very welcoming overnight stay. These people are legends !
We stayed here for two nights and were sorry that we couldn’t stay longer because we had someplace to be. What gracious and welcoming hosts. Their place is so lovely and has the ‘step back in time’ feeling. The gardens, the farmhouse, the grain bin, the surrounding fields... we most enjoyed talking with Monte and hearing him share both his own history as well as the area history. It was delightful. And if you’re a cyclist be sure to bring along your bike and plan time to ride. There are great trails in the area.
Lazy farmer camp is a fabulous stay. And Monty and Carolyn are too. Convenient and close to 35W. This made for a perfect stay for us on our return home.
Easy to find, lots of space to pull in, and a welcoming host. We only stayed one night in the way through but we would definitely stay again.
Very welcoming and friendly couple. Beautiful, peaceful, and private setting. Great night's sleep. Thank you for your hospitality!
Very sweet small farm on the edge of town. It was our first Boondockers stay. Monte waved us in from the road and was friendly and helpful even though the weather was cold! Beautiful sunset over the corn field and a peaceful night’s rest. Our Covid Christmas vacation is off to a great start.
This is a beautiful place to camp on the farm. Level area. Good Verizon signal. Water and electricity. Kind and friendly hosts. Trail very close for walking or biking. We would stop here again!
I had a lovely stay! They were very helpful. Nice and quiet place to stay, which was just what I needed. There is a bike trail nearby to stretch your legs.
Thanks so much to Monte & Carolyn for their hospitality & interesting conversation. A wonderful, friendly place for a stop.
We enjoyed our stay at this quiet, convenient spot. Our hosts took very good care of us. With the first snowfall of the season, it was too cold to stay outside to visit. We travel this route at least yearly and look forward to staying here again!
Lazyfarmercamp is the definition of quiet and relaxing. Beautiful "farm in the country" setting. The morning dusting of snow just added to the charm. Our hosts were wonderful.
what a great and down home place to boondock. The hosts had several options for us and with a 44 ft rig, 61 feet with our tow vehicle, space is what we needed.
The views were spectacular. The bike trail near by was a great way to get exercise. The little towns around the area were awesome! De Moines wss not too far away.
The hosts were able to help us locate places to shower, dump, shop. So hospitable. You'll be glad you stopped here.
Our hosts were very helpful and friendly, and our overnight stay with them was perfect. 100% positive recommendation for these hosts.
We thoroughly our stay here. Our hosts were extremely helpful and gracious. We woke up hearing the birds sing. We would definitely stay here again when back this way.
These Hosts were wonderful, kind and friendly. Their beautiful farm was quiet and peaceful.
We enjoyed staying here so much. Thank you!
The owners were very helpful to get us situated. Loved the area with the big tree in the back to relax with the family. Good jokes with the husband too. Good times. Great for families.
Pulling our RV in lazarmercamp was like living in the movie "Field of Dreams." A peaceful oasis surrounded by tall corn stalks! Our hosts, lazy farmer were great. We couldn't have felt more welcome by anyone. The whole experiences was a dream that we'll always cherish!
Great hosts. Lovely evening. Would never hesitate to return. Our newest friends 😊
The hosts were very kind and welcoming. The location is convenient and easy to access. Level spot with electric (bring your adapter), nice for a good walk too. I enjoyed my stay and would be happy to visit again. :-)
We stayed with lazyfarmercamp on our first night of vacation. Due to prior commitments, we did not have a lot of time to spend with our hosts but were able to chat with them on the morning of our departure.
The space for our trailer was level with easy access to power and water.
We hope to be able to stay with them again sometime in the future in order to catch an ISU football game.
Such wonderful folks
The area was lovely - they provided electric and a very enjoyable spot
Lazyfarmercamp was our first Boondockers Welcome stay. Our hosts were great, their son was very helpful as well he lives across the street.
Anyone with a larger rig(ours is 40 Foot) make sure to give yourself extra time to park. Otherwise it was wonderful. They even left us with some veggies and fresh apple sauce!!
The hosts are interesting, friendly and engaging! We had an enjoyable evening on their deck and shared family and travel stories. Beautiful farm complete with a vintage tractor. Plus, there’s a bike path close by - worth the time for a morning ride. Easy to find and close to I35. Level spot with plenty of space to turn. We hope to return sometime!
From the moment we arrived lazyfarmers were certainly not lazy. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. They even gave us fresh vegetables from their garden. We sat together on their deck and shared travel and family experiences. The location is quiet and beautiful with a level gravel area to park. We look forward to staying again someday.
When we travel, it's easy to get excited about the fabulous scenery and adventures. If you stop over at lazyfarmers, all the "little things" that are really important, you'll find. A kind engaging couple, a cup of coffee, and a safe place to stay. And if you're fortunate, maybe an ear of Iowa sweet corn!
The most friendly and gracious hosts. I was provided a lovely spot and electric hookup. After settling in, we sat on the deck and talked traveling. Wonderful experience!
Would love to stop by again 😃
