Near Interstate 35. Will direct if requested. Camp sites are on rocked drive, surrounded by grass where kids can play, well behaved dogs unleashed, or walked, etc. Farmstead is about 3 acres surrounded by cropland on the edge of a small town population 850, but near a town of 4,000 where groceries, gas, restaurants are available. Quiet, safe camping for a night or two. We have beautiful sunsets over the cornfields.... Suggested Local Attractions:In the middle of nowhere, close to lots of amenities. Des Moines, 25 minutes, suburb of Ankeny is 15 min., so is Ames and Iowa State University where beautiful Reiman Gardens is located. Bike trail a short walk which connects to miles of trails all the way to state capital, or simply ride or take a leisurely walk through the downtown. We can offer some ideas, if desired.

Location

Access Road Conditions: Close to Interstate 35, 1.6 miles of paved highway, a mile of gravel. Alternate route avoids all but .2 of a mile of gravel. Will explain when contacted. No sharp turns, hills or bridges, easy drive. Trailers, 40ft., or so, may take a little maneuvering to park, but ample room to do so. Drive is asphalt off gravel rd., so may also be a little tight, but certainly manageable. Sites do require some backing skill, but plenty of room to make adjustments. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: In most cases units may remain hitched if desired. Limited backup skills required, plenty of room to maneuver. Towed vehicles on large Class A units may need to be disconnected??? Plenty of room on property to park the vehicle, next to coach or nearby. Can accommodate one 40 ft. Class A, maybe two, would need to visit.

Retired, active couple who have traveled widely and enjoy making new friends. Details: I am a former magazine editor with lots of interests. My wife was a sales manager. We live on a small farm by Iowa standards and maintain a large yard. Woodworking, photography, old tractors are hobbies and Carolyn is a self-described "hosta-holic" and good cook. Lots of mature tress, shrubs and plants surround the farmstead. Both of us are fairly handy. For work and for pleasure have visited all 50 states, some numerous times. This also includes the opportunity to travel many countries of the world. Still enjoy travel and do so often. Family includes 3 adult children, 6 grandchildren, including two sets of twins. Our sons live in Iowa, daughter and family in NC. Life has been good. Happy to share stories. This was our second stay at Laxyfarmercamp, and we’re so thankful for these gracious hosts. They’re kind and helpful, and were very accommodating when we needed to stay an extra day due to weather condition.

If you’re lucky enough to stay at the beautiful Lazyfarmercamp — the home and farm of one of the loveliest, most congenial couples I’ve ever met, you’ll leave feeling that grace and kindness is still very much alive and well in the world. Thank you…

This was the perfect first stop on our trip south for the winter! It is just outside if a very quiet small town and the hosts are as friendly as can be! Highly recommend!

This was our first time ever using Boondockers and one couldn't ask for a nicer couple to be initiated than Monty and Carolyn! Monty is one interesting gentleman and also their yard is beautiful and it was great fun to walk the little town. We would definitely stay here again!
