Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostNo matter where you are headed, we all need to rest. Nothing fancy here but for sure it will be your own private rest area with the assurance that no one will be knocking your door. Here you will hear rooster songs as a new day greeting. Once every 2 month average, neighbors play loud music on Saturday night but its rare.
We live out in country Bakersfield, near 5 freeway and Highway 58.
Our place is quiet, almond orchards everywhere at walking distance for a good morning walk (bring a stick, loose dogs on street sometimes). Just be a good and happy camper.
Generator on daytime is OK not after 11 pm.
We have a specific 15 amp electric outlet for boon dockers with a really thick (10gauge) extension cord available.
(this outlet is 4 feet from main breaker panel with 10 gauge wire and properly grounded, but its still 15 amp).
*No generator after 11 pm.
*You must know that summers in Bakersfield get to 3 digits.
*Winters not so bad, lowest range from 35 to 50 degree F' at 4 am.
*Allow us to take a picture of your Rig for our guest book. (yes, you can be on the picture).
Smile.
*We have a dedicated 15 amp outlet just for boondockers and a 10 gauge extention available (its $10 per the night for power)
about 1500 feet of dirt road to enter my host location, just follow our directions and drive slow, you will be ok.
plenty of space.
We do a lot of last minute trips in the spring and summer, but feel free to give us a shout and see if we can accommodate you.
-Not a lot to do in Bakersfield, but that's what Google is for, however, you really don't want to miss the Almond Orchard Blossoms in last week of Feb and first week of March (dates vary), its amazing!. We are at walking distance of this Orchards.
-Google Tule Elk Reserve State Natural Reserve, this interesting place is only 15 minutes from our location, we go there often and only 50% off our visits we are able to see elks from about 300ft away. its always lonely and clean nice restrooms.
-If you are coming or going to cross the Mojave desert, google " Red Rock Canyon State Park " in Cantil California, is only 20 minutes off your route and its a small but beautiful place, but its not near from us. we are 1 hr and 45 minutes from there.
We enjoyed our one night stay with the Five Pilgrims. J gave us thorough directions and the RV spot was nice and level. We really appreciated the fact that they offered power and water. We took an afternoon walk around the neighborhood and also met their little daughter and adorable Yorkie. M was so kind, and gifted us some almonds from their tree and fresh eggs. They are a lovely young family and very generous Boondockers Welcome hosts. Many thanks to the 5 Pilgrims!
We pulled in at dusk and was greeted warmly by the hosts. Nice and quiet stay. Sorry for closing our van door several times at night as we couldn't get it to close! Thanks.
Very spacious, flat, dry spot on their circular drive.
Hosts were both super friendly and welcoming. Too bad we did not have a chance to get to know them better but we had to take off to get back to Southern California for the Holidays.
Thank you J&M for your hospitality and for sharing your home location with us!
Thank you for having us, my daughter and I are totally enjoyed Boondocking here. the location is perfect for us to take a break from driving. I hope we will visit you guys again in the future. The warm shower is totally amazing. Nice peaceful area to rest and walking hearing roosters crowing in the distance, we love it!
This was our second time to stay with the 5 Pilgrims. So restful and welcoming. So thankful for this wonderful family and a place to stop for the might after a long drive. Thanks again!
Wonderful hosts. This was my first experience with Boondockers Welcome and they made me feel very comfortable. They even gave me fresh eggs which I enjoyed for breakfast. They have a flat, wide, easy-to-access driveway and my evening was quiet and peaceful. Thank you!!
My stay at this location was wonderful. They were excellent hosts. We arrived a little late and they were very accommodating.
Location was perfect for Vegas trip.
Thanks again!
I very much enjoyed my stay in the outskirts of Bakersfield, CA. The hosts provided water and a long extension cord to hook up for power. Depending on your rig, it most likely will not be enough fot AC. The sounds of the wind through nearby trees and the cooing of doves was intoxicating and relaxing. It's the country, so you'll hear barking dogs and roosters in the distance, but this did not bother me.
The hosts brought me farm fesh eggs and helped me with an electrical malfunction of my tow vehicle. My dog played with their little dog and children with joy! I can't thank them enough for their kindness and hospitality. Thank you!
We are new to Boondocker’s Welcome. This is our first experience and it was very positive! Such a sweet family very welcoming with great directions to guide us to their home. Gravel driveway is level enough to stay hooked up with the four jacks down; comfortable night’s rest and neighborhood dogs quieted down.
Everything was seamless. From confirmation of my request to staying here. The host greeted me upon arrival Around 7 pm and was very kind. Quiet location (some chickens down the road so you hear them in the morning but I liked that). I’d stay here again if traveling through. :-)
We had a wonderful stay! The road in had some potholes, but they were easy to avoid and it was easy to pull through the driveway and park. There are a lot of animals around, and a rare train - but other than that, it was very quiet.
Our kids loved playing with the host's kids, and we loved meeting our hosts.
We appreciated use of utilities and an outdoor shower.
Would love to visit again sometime! :)
The 5 Pilgrims were very accommodating, friendly, flexible and made my stay very easy. Smiles from all and a big thanks back to you!
Clear directions to location provided by host. Nice parking spot on level gravel drive. There seems to be a dog at every house on the street and barking continued until dark. We slept well though. Nice couple who greeted us then let us set up and even offered 15 amp power cord for light.
Our hosts happily welcomed us to their property outside Bakersfield. Very nice couple! They helped us get set up and provided a 15 amp electrical line. A nice surprise.
We were heading out of California on our way to Florida, and this was an easy stop off of I-5. The hosts gave us very specific directions on which streets to take, and even sent us a video on exactly the route to take and where to park at their place.
The 5 Pilgrims are a sweet couple. They weren't home when we arrived, but came to say hello and even gave us a sweet treat that they had bought just for us. It was the perfect snack after a long day of driving!
The neighborhood dogs bark a lot. They quieted down at night, so sleeping was very peaceful and quiet. We have three dogs of our own, so barking doesn't bother us. But for those who may not be used to dogs, just be aware of that.
Very easy stay and super sweet couple. I would recommend this place to anyone needing to pass through the area. We would definitely stay again. Thank you so much for your hospitality!
Spent two quiet nights next to the families classic mid nineties Alegro class A motorhome. Full water and 15amp electric close by made it a very easy and enjoyable stay. After arrival, I was immediately welcomed by the "lady of the house" where she showed me where to park telling me that if I needed anything, just let her know. Very down to earth people with some great children.
I would recommend staying here, and it is close to California Interstate 5.
thanks for the warm greeting after such a long day of driving, you were a blessing that greeted us. And thankyou for the evening chat and sharing. Thanks for your kindness, hospitality and being part of our BoondockersWelcome family. PS. Didn't hear any roosters this morning so we slept in!
Nice to be off the road and in the orchard groves of Bakersfield valley. Very happy couple, and fun to talk about the re-build of the Ford 8N. Quiet night and level spot with power too. Hope to swing by again. Thank You both and the family too.
Very convenient location and easy to find (thank you for great directions).
The host and his family are very welcoming, and their little Yorkie is adorable :)
Lots of space for my RV, they even offered me to use bathroom / shower in the building behind their house. Hooked me up to electricity - thank you !
Was very quiet during the night. And in the morning I heard several roosters in neighboring properties welcoming the day - love that sound !
Thank you and your family for having me !
This was my first boondockers welcome experience and a very pleasant one too. Thanks for making me feel at home.
The 5 Pilgrims were very friendly hosts...... nice spot to get off the I-5 and get some rest. Thanks for being part of the Boondocking family.
This was a great stay. The host was very accommodating. Their communications and directions were very quick and helpful. The property is great. Super easy in and out. Level. And we were met upon arrival and they ensured we had everything we needed.
We visited seqouia forest and los angeles from their spot. So being right in the middle of the two worked out great! If we are ever in southern cali again we will definitely request their place again.
This is on the outskirts of Bakersfield. The host was very friendly and provided electric, water, and even a shower and toilet shed that he made for guests that is accessible at the back of the house. It looked amazing! Thank you for letting us stay 😊!
We had a wonderful visit with the host and his family. They made us feel very welcomed from the moment we arrived. We only wish we had time to visit with them more. The directions they provided are super important to follow. We arrived after dark, so it posed some issues trying to find roads....but you should be fine if you plan appropriately. Host offered water and let us use their 120v power. It was quiet and felt safe. Would highly recommend to other boondockers!
Very nice people. Offered use of shower toilet.
Bit muddy after big rains.
Not good for dogs as burrs everywhere. an
The Host and his family are so wonderful! This was our first stay using Boondockers. We stopped over to stay halfway between the coast and our destination. He was very responsive to texts on the day of stay. His wife greeted us and showed us around the property. He has even installed an outdoor restroom and shower for his guests! We visited for a short time when he arrived home from work, he has such a giving spirit and heart. Thank you so much for an amazing place to spend the night. We would love to come here again someday.
We loved our stay at Airfiberoptics. This was only our second time using Boondockers Welcome and the hosts have all been absolutely wonderful - especially Airfiberoptics. We used the helpful directions to access the site - the city road is quite dilapidated and in need of repair but the host provided a useful YouTube video and instructions on how to access the driveway entrance as well as overnight parking space. Lots of room for large rigs. We enjoyed listening to the roosters at sunrise and would love to stay here again.
This spot was a great resting spot in the middle of a sea of almond orchards. A quiet semi-rural area away from the highway. Our hosts were very warm, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed spending time with the whole family.
As I travel, I am meet a lot of people. I was fortunate to have met this one special family. They have an open heart. I'm inspired and leave with hope to find more like them. I really didn't want to leave!
The roads are torn up, take it slow, shopping is close and so are all the fruit and nut trees! Thank you for bringing me a cup of coffee this morning!
