This is an old barn built during the 1800's. There's pasture and it's beautiful in Northeast PA. I could allow a firepit in the pasture that I can gate off if someone wanted. I have lots of wood. The insurance won't allow it near the barn or smoking of any kind. BBQ's would have to be on the homestead side of the road. There is a port-a-john next to the barn available for anyone who wants to use it. It's cleaned weekly so it's always clean.
I have to admit it's somewhat noisy here, there's a highway nearby and the semi's run all night long. Rooster crows early too. I do have earplugs lol
No Smoking on property
Quiet after 10:00 (running the generator is ok)
No one goes into the horse pasture unattended.
No one goes into the barn unattended.
Dogs do have to be kept on a leash at the farm for their own safety as the road is right there.
The stable is located right on the country road (see the picture in my profile). It is located on a little bit of a hill although the driveway itself is level. To back up on the driver's side it would mean backing uphill and the passenger side (which is how I preferred to back in my horse trailer) is slightly downhill. There is an area right across the road one can pull up into to straighten.
There's a main driveway, a carport, a lower driveway and a house driveway right across the street.
The attractions are: Ricketts Glen state park, Pinchot State park. There is a supermarket with a cafeteria that also sells wine and beer within walking distance with a connected hardware store. Nearby Scranton (about a 40 minute drive) offers a coal mine tour which is pretty cool.
Very friendly helpful host. Ricketts glen. Great walk.
I so enjoyed my night here. It was fun to see the horses and enjoy the farm setting. It was the perfect stopover making a long road trip a pleasant adventure! :)
Enjoyed being with the chickens and horses. Host is very gracious and kind
Thanks for your hospitality
We had the most amazing stay at this location. We absolutely love country towns and little farms so this spot was perfect. Chickens, horses, and fresh eggs as well as a nice quiet place to park. We did not hear the roosters or cars on the road at night. There’s a grocery store very close as well as many beautiful places to enjoy the nature. The host was beyond helpful. She gave us wonderful directions in, and even gave us a dozen of fresh eggs from her chickens. We appreciate all she did for us in making our stay so comfortable. We only planned to stay one night but enjoyed it so much we stayed two (and probably would’ve stayed longer if we didn’t have to be somewhere else). Thanks again for a wonderful stay!!!
We arrived a little later than anticipated and were greeted warmly and really looked after .Her site is dead level, easy to access , quiet and comfortable with horses and chickens. We took advantage of the offered electricity as the day was hot and very sticky. We had a very engaging and informative exchange of ideas whilst sharing a wine in our RV.
Our hostess kindly offered us some "Green" coloured fresh, free range eggs - gratefully received .
Thank you Alphamare for your time and generosity. You gave us a great time and we hope to reciprocate if you come to our part of the world.
We wish you well for your pending RV purchase.
