Narrow area in the back of my yard, ideal for short vehicles such as Vans and Camper Trucks. Pets are welcome but I do not have a fence. There is a dog park within a mile. In the middle of downtown Jacksonville and walkable to coffee, beer, pizza, etc. Small trailers can work too, but not too long.
I had free power and hookups, but I was hosting so much that my utility bills soared so now asking pls for $5/night for water and power if you need it. If not, no donation needed.
*** As of Mar 15, 2021 - they are working on my street and plan to for a few months. That would mean that you would need to enter through my back alley, which is a little tighter and you might pass by palm fronds, etc. that would likely touch your rig. Some people might not mind and some people might.... There are no huge branches, but some fronds and some small branches, so it is up to you about tighter access or not. So it depends on how comfortable you are maybe getting some scratches and navigating an alley that you will need to make a 90% turn in to park. So far a small Unimog, Sprinter and other similar length and height vehicles have been ok but I want everyone to know this will likely go on through Fall of 2021 ***
Not loud after 9 PM (Neighbors)
Pets on Leashes
Smaller vehicles are best, there is plenty of length, but navigation to the spot not so good. (Vans, Camper Trucks etc ideal)
Lots of restaurants and breweries in walking distance as well as a large park, dog park, disc golf course, tennis courts and basketball court.
Had an evening game at 121 financial ballpark only a 1.5miles from the little dollhouse. Had wonderful evening watching the jumbo shrimp beat Nashville 4 to 1! Thanks Janie for accommodating us!
Absent host, but really worked hard to make us welcome.
The access is tight, but not a problem with a class B.
Interesting part of town. Reminds us of our old victorian house in the Ditmas Park neighborhood in Brooklyn.
Reinforces the fact that BW is not just a place to stay but often takes us to parts of the country that we would normally never visit.
We were in town to catch an evening jumbo shrimp baseball game, only 1.5miles away! Had a great time at the game and nice evening camping in the Springfield district, Thanks Janie!
Had a nice relaxing stay. Discovered yummy local eateries and strolled the neighborhood admiring the architecture.
It was nice having electricity available. Location was easy with our Roadtrek. Thank you.
Small spot away from the noise, host was very kind and accommodating.
Great stay on our journey north in this historic part of Jacksonville. Lovely houses and gardens.
Great location - quiet and great neighborhood that is in a gentrification transition which gives it a great vibe for walking thru the old 1890’s neighborhood. Water and 15amp hookup makes it that much better. Leave it better then you find it - a rare inner city gem. About 3 blocks away are some good eateries - BBQ 👍👍👍👍
We had a wonderful stay! JanieJax has a lovely back yard. There was plenty of room for our truck camper. We really appreciated her very clear and detailed directions. The neighborhood is definitely up and coming with beautiful restored homes on tree lined streets. Really very lovely. We enjoyed walking around and visited a brewery in Main Street where we enjoyed some great beer and sandwiches.
Great stay, great location for hopping over to the beach, my favorite was Neptune. Nice little bakery around the corner from the dollhouse, cute street. I only met hostess once, but her cat Darth paid us a few visits:)
Wonderful location, next to a beautiful park. Very quiet neighborhood, exotic Spanish mosses around you, and if you are an Xfinity customer, the location has a very strong Xfinity hotspot WiFi. On top of that, an electric hookup ($5) and a wonderful, very responsive, and friendly host, JANIE. Thank you Boondockers Welcome for this opportunity to enjoy my first boondockers visit. academiae, VA
Host is beyond hospitable, thoughtful, and accommodating.
Spot is in an up and coming part of Jax and best suited for vans and small to medium sized rigs.
We were able to get in and out with our Unimog without problems.
Bis wir uns wieder sehen!
The three NOFOMOs.
Our host was a gracious and informative and her property was the perfect spot to explore the Jacksonville area. The home is located in the historic Springfield section in a quiet neighborhood and was a perfect spot for our Class B van. The hook ups were an added bonus! Our host made great recommendations where to go for breakfast to pizza to breweries and all were excellent. We recommend checking out the south bank River walk downtown and also Atlantic/ Neptune beaches which are close by. We would definitely visit again.
This was the first time we have overnighted in the heart of a major city. Nice to be in a quiet neighborhood and close to restaurants. Hope to visit again.
Fantastic location and Janie is super chill. It was a very positive experience.
Nice boondocking intercity experience. Our hostess went out other way to accommodate us.
We were fleeing from Tallahassee due to storms which followed us to Jacksonville. The storm boomed and crashed all night, we arrived in the dark and left in the dark the next morning, it was wonderful being tucked safely behind JanieJax's house. Kind, giving and generous, there is no better host! We thank you! Elizabeth and Russ
This was our second time using BW and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Janie was a great host, super nice and helpful in getting us parked on her lot. The parking area is small as she describes, but very doable with our 13’ teardrop towed with a Nissan Frontier. Beautiful inner city historic area with Victorian homes in various stages of remodeling. What a gem! We loved touring the neighborhood on bikes and decided if we lived in Jacksonville this is the only place to live!
I arrived at the JanieJax welcomed me and showed me where to park. The house is located on a nice lot when a perfect space for a van or RV with low clearance. Unfortunately, my RV was a little too tall for the trees so I was scaping my roof a little. JanieJax writes about this in her description of the parking spot, but I failed to notice it.
JanieJax was very pleasant and helpful! The location is very close to everything downtown and the entire neighborhood is lit up by lights at night to help increase safety and a quiet setting.
Thank you so much for your hospitality!
Convenient spot in an interesting neighborhood close to downtown. Quiet at night. Host was very accommodating when we extended our stay an extra day.
JanieJax was a wonderful host. Her location is in the heart of downtown Jacksonville FL yet situated in a quiet and quaint little neighborhood. She was very accomodating and allowed us to stay much longer than we should have since we were trying to troubleshoot our solar panels that weren't working properly. Janie was exceptionally friendly and was a great help in giving us suggestions for restaurants and things to do. Would highly recommend her location to anyone passing through Jacksonville!
Greatly appreciated this urban oasis and Janie's flexibility as we weren't sure if the space would work out or not. There were some low hanging branches but did alright going slow. Would definitely stay again!
Stayed one night and it was perfect. Beautiful neighborhood and even more special with all the Christmas lights. Janie was a wonderful host and enjoyed being greeted by her cat Darth.
Nice quiet place in the heart of the Springfield Historic district. It was so nice to just walk around the neighborhood and look at all the old homes that were being renovated. JanieJax was very friendly and helpful as well. We would repeat.
Janie's house and neighborhood are stunningly beautiful. The Springfield Historic District sits right on top of downtown and we enjoyed walking in both of them and checking out a few businesses. The Southbank Riverwalk sits just south of downtown, but it's worth the short trip, especially at night.
This was such an enjoyable experience, thanks to Janie opening up her yard to us!
Lovely little spot in the heart of Jacksonville. JanieJax is more than accommodating. We would definitely stay again!
Definitely a great spot to stop by for an overnight stay or if you're visiting the area. Super close to the interstate. We didn't have the opportunity to meet our host since we only stayed one night, but she was super helpful and consideratie via text. We would definitely stop by again!
Close to lots to do in and around Jax.
Very cool historic neighborhood I spent an hour or two walking and exploring, lots of old homes.
Convenient drive to the beaches, and about 45 mins drive down to explore St. Augustine.
The spot is definitely best for smaller vans and such as mentioned on the Hosts info.
I stayed with my Nissan Frontier pulling an 18’ camper, and that was a tight fit getting in and out and turned around! Great Verizon cell signal. I was able to park in the grassy area and got about 4-5 hours of sun for my solar panels.
I didn’t get to meet the host, but much thanks to JanieJax for allowing me to stay here over Thanksgiving and the weekend!
Great lush little spot in a beautiful neighborhood, you'd never know you were so close to downtown!
I had a great time being hosted by Janie. We only spoke briefly, but she was kind and welcoming and gave me ideas on what to see locally while I was there, including the Talbot Islands State Parks, which were great! Thanks!!!
Ended up with a changed itinerary and saw JanieJax accepted same.day requests. She graciously hosted us in the best spirit of welcoming weary travelers. We were in and out quickly and only had a chance.to say hello, but she was ever so gracious. The neighborhpod was charming and we'd like to stop again some time when we have time to explore. Recommended 👍
Quiet historic neighborhood close to downtown Jacksonville FL. Was able to get pizza delivery for dinner. Nice walk to local park with the dog in the morning. Then stopped in town on the way for pastries and coffee!
Convenient to the highway, but quiet. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Very accountable and quiet. Wonderful night and I hope to pass thru again.
What a great place to stay. JanieJax was very accommodating and the parking spot was
perfect for our class "B". Many things to do in the area and it's close to public
transportation. The response was quick and directions right on. If the occasion
arises, we would love to stay at JanieJax again. Thank you Dave and Linda.
We had minimal contact ... with Covid it's understandable... Adequate for a short stay
Janie has been so accommodating letting me to use her property. I've learned so much about the history of the neighborhood, the houses, the festivities, and the very friendly people I've met on her block. Can't wait to come back when they have their block parties!
This was my first boondockers experience and I hope they all go as smoothly. Great host. Very quick to respond. Directions were easy to follow and the spot was quiet and perfect for a night on the road. Hope to return soon.
Beautiful old area of downtown Jacksonville. We had some nice walks with our dog and admired the restored houses. Easy in and out with our van, and our host was great.
Just spent a nice, restful evening in historic Jacksonville. A short walk away from several restaurants and a local bar, as well as old churches and a museum. There's also a small park and a frisbee golf course just a few blocks away.
Thank you Janie!
What a lovely neighborhood and host. Even though our host did not feel great she still let us stay in her backyard and even agreed on a second night when our plans changed. She gave us some great tips for things to see. It was very quiet and safe. Thank you so much!
This neighborhood is enjoying a renaissance. Beautiful large older homes w front porches minutes from downtown. I found it to be eclectic, quirky, quiet and safe. Just as she had shared. Alrhough we did not have a chance to meet, her directions and texts were very clear. Loved this very walkable area and hope to visit again. I have a 20 ft. Leisure van and the backyard parking was great. Thank you for the stay and great tips.
Our host was awesome. We stayed here in the past. It's an amazing place and the host is incredible.
I believe this is the quietest spot I’ve ever stayed at and I had the best nights sleep yet. Even though I didn’t get to meet my host, she seems very nice. I would definitely stay here again.
I was only in Jacksonville for the night but was very close to the city and had the luxury to be parked in a quiet neighborhood from what I experienced. Janie was helpful for my short stay and I appreciated the time to refresh during my stay.
Enjoyed being able to take advantage of this quiet and convenient spot and helpful host.
The location was so convenient, just off the interstate, but far enough away so no noise. We were only at the Dollhouse from 10 pm the night of arrival to 6:30 am the next morning... We didn't have the pleasure of actually meeting JanieJax, but had nice discussions via text. We wish we had had more time to explore Jacksonville - we hope to be back! We have a 6 x 8 Runaway (Squaredrop) camper and we were able to park just fine.
Very quiet place. Went for a walk around the block to see the beautiful old houses. Would not hesitate to go back.
Janie was a wonderful host.
I so enjoyed walking my dog through the lovely historic neighborhood where she lives. I was able to drive to several beaches, less than 30 minutes away and enjoy the days relaxing.
We really enjoyed our stay in the garden. It was quiet at night and was near to downtown. Also a few breweries in walking distance.
Loved my stay at this young ladies lovely home. My rig was quite a bit to big but she was more than accommodating. Even let me set up right next to her home where DUKE could run free and play with his ball. Enjoyed the city and my stay. A definite must if you’re in the area.
Really good stay with Janie, we had mechanical problems and she agreed to accommodate us longer without problem and gave us very good information to visit the city.
What a friendly lady and great spot. Perfect for my quick overnight
This was a nice spot for our overnight stay. JanieJax went above and beyond in being helpful, as I had messaged her asking for a nearby grocery where I could get a jalapeño pepper, and she messaged that she had asked some neighbors and found me three peppers within ten minutes! How nice is that? We were glad to meet her and get to chat for a few minutes.
We were there for a few days while we worked and our host was very quick to reply if we had any questions! We only met briefly but she was very kind and accommodating! Thanks again!
Great spot with lots to do in walking distance, we visited all 3 breweries located less then a mile away, and walked to downtown Jax as well. We also enjoyed walking the neighborhood and seeing the revitalization underway with many beautiful homes.
My host was gracious enough to let me stay on Christmas day. Even made me feel welcome to join in some festivities. Quiet spot especially considering it’s close in Jacksonville very interesting historic neighborhood.
Very hospitable host in a city with few choices. Great BBQ restaurant and brewery within walking distance.
JanieJax provided a quick confirmation and through directions to the location as well as detailed instructions for where to park. The parking location is on the side of her yard next to the alley and is best suited for smaller vans. Our 21 foot Class B had no problem fitting in the space. After we arrived, she let us know about the ''Run, Santa, Run'' event that was occurring that evening in the park nearby. What fun to walk over there to see the lights, hear the music, and participate in the walk/run with Jacksonville community. Thanks!
Thank you for providing such a nice and convenient place for the night. The area was very quiet and safe. We loved the Carolers that came by last night.
Oh wow is this neighborhood ever beautiful! We stayed here because we were passing through, and weren’t planning on staying there more than just to sleep but we ended up having to go for a walk around the neighborhood houses to ogle and enjoy in the morning.
Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a space in this area!
JanieJax has a perfect overnight spot in a very quiet neighbourhood in downtown Jacksonville. We followed the very detailed instructions to find ourselves a very quiet spot for the night. A wonderful stay!
We loved the beautiful historic neighborhood that our host lives in. Close to a large park and coffee shops and restaurants. The pups loved the large dog park. Very easy access from 95. Thank you so much for hosting us!
A very welcome respite after 18 hours of traveling south (from New England) to stay ahead of Jack Frost and Mr. Freeze! Our generous host made us feel right at home well before we’d even met face-to-face, including clear instructions on how to get there and where to park our 23-ft long, 9.6’ high rig (about the biggest size that will fit). We felt perfectly safe in a quiet downtown neighborhood that clearly is on the rise, and is within easy walking distance of great BBQ, brew, and other amenities. Many thanks!
We had a lovely stay with our host. She was so helpful and accommodating and made us feel so very welcome. We would definitely stay again! Thank you!
Beautiful old inner-city setting. Would stay here again. Host was very gracious, and is correct about size; our class A is 24 feet long and we push the limit of the space. A big thumbs up!
We stay just for one night. The host was very friendly.
The site is perfect for our short rig, lot of space. Very calm even if we are in the city.
Thank you for your hospitality.
Linda and Guy
Enjoyed a quiet, peaceful night stay in a spacious (for a city property) backyard not far from downtown.
Perfect for a small rig.
Missed meeting JanieJax but she was wonderfully accommodating and quick to answer texts. Thanks Janie!!
Our host was super accommodating and pleasant. The space for R.V.'s is private, with no traffic noise. There are some restaurants and bars within walking distance. All in all, very, very nice stay!
Janie welcomed me in after a long days drive. I arrived later than expected and she took the time to guide me into the area in back of her house. She is very nice and helpful. I was hoping to arrive earlier to be able t talk. After filling my water tank it was off to bed for some much needed rest.
I left early in the morning to catch the sunrise at the beach.
We were fortunate to find such a sweet host in a beautiful location. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Janie was super helpful, gave us many recommendations and was communicative. She made us feel at home. Her home is in a beautiful historic neighborhood just a short drive to the beach. We loved it!!!! We would love to go back :)
Janie warmly welcomed us with open arms to her back yard located in the charming historic district known as Springfield in Jacksonville, Florida. We were delighted to be invited to gather with her neighbors where we sat by a fire pit and toasted marshmallows to make smores. We enjoyed conversation over sipping refreshments and learning about the historic homes revitalization programs going on in the neighborhood. The location was superb for us to park our travel trailer of 21 feet for an overnight. WEe felt safe and comfortable to explore the area homes that dated back to circa 1887. Many of the architectural homes in the district of Springfield have real possibilities to be magnificent again and many were stunning to see after the completed preservation. We highly recommend visiting with Janie and we look forward to stopping back on our return trip for a repeat experience. Thank you again Janie! See you on Facebook and looking forward to keeping in touch with you.
Chrissy and Tom
Very cool revitalized neighborhood right near downtown. Easy to find, great location and lovely host. Woke up to birds chirping and a great meet and great with Janie!
Natural host and committed communitarian. Our stay was way too short. We're coming back - often!
