Reasons to visit Tulsa Oklahoma……
Like the many fireflies that can be found on a summer night in Tulsa the town itself is a wonder to behold. Top of the list of wonders is the Gathering Place, named America’s Best New Attraction in 2019 by USA Today, it is a nearly 100 acre park and is the largest private gift to a community park in US history. Yes, gift, so entry is free! Play grounds, water park, skate park, basketball courts, kayaking, restaurants, gardens, trails, buildings overlooking a pond to hang out and play checkers or use your computer and many live events. Check out the website for all the details www.gatheringplace.org. It is amazing and located along the Arkansas river where you will find many other fun things to explore. The Tulsa Regional Trail System with over 50 miles of paved trails for biking, walking, skateboarding with plenty of places to stop and grab a bite or have a beer. But if pavement is not your style there is a mountain bike trail in Tulsa’s urban wilderness area called Turkey Mountain. Check out the Tulsa Tough www.tulsatough.com bike events which are fun for every level of rider from the elite to the spectator, Cry Baby hill is legendary but best for adult spectators. Of course, all the available trails leads to world class running events like Route 66 Marathon https://route66marathon.com. There is practically a running event every other weekend. Check out the Disc Golf Course at 41st and Riverside, which you will find people playing even on the windiest of days. Along the trail and in town you will find electric scooter and bicycles you can rent. Scattered throughout the area are Perry Maxwell designed golf courses, both public and private, which are among the best courses in the country. The Philbrook Museum of Art within the former 72 room mansion of Tulsa oilman Waite Phillips is a real treat for the art, gardens and food, I believe the second Saturday of each month is open to the public for free but general admission is only $7 and it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
They were very accommodating and friendly. Unfortunately, we were in town to visit family, so didn’t get a chance to visit with our hosts much, but they were super nice. They didn’t even get mad when we accidentally left the gate open 😬. Will hopefully stay again when we are in town to see family in the future.
This was our 2nd stop with this host, once on our way south and then on our way home. Such great accommodations and and even better hosts! We enjoyed a fireside chat about our travels and we will look forward to seeing them again.
Plenty of room on this level, gravel, gated backyard with gracious hosts! We hope to stay again sometime.
As always very accommodating and flexible. Do to conditions in Tulsa we had to leave early.
Excellent Host
Thanks to Calypso for letting me stay! This was my very first experience with boondockerswelcome.com and overall was very positive. They seem like very kind people and I was grateful to have a nice and safe spot during my stay in Tulsa.
We only stayed one night, so we didn't get to spend too much time with our host. The spot was nice and was even gated! Our host had a neat idea of a bin with brochures for local attractions. There was also a journal for guests to write down tips for things they'd done there in Tulsa, favorite things from their hometowns, or other favorite places. We went to the Gathering Place at their recommendation which was awesome!
Perfect location, 10 minutes from Downtown. Flat gravel lot with 50AMP power. We practiced social distancing and was able to break bread. I stopped through town for some meetings and ended up staying longer than expected. Calypso was very accommodating. Thank you so much! You guys are awesome!!
We had a short and pleasant stay at Calypso. Access was easy and the hospitality was wonderful.
We highly recommend this host in Tulsa!! During the pandemic, they could have said no to us, but with strong social distancing rules in affect, they opened their doors to us!! Our stay was peaceful and comfortable. The host did all they could do to make our stay comfortable. They gave us thorough details of what Tulsa and the surrounding areas had to offer. They even offered their horseshoe pit to us and we greatly appreciated it. Plenty of room to set up your own outdoor games. We will definitely save this host and spend other times with them when we are in the area! They are AWESOME!!!
We were just passing through, but found the host to be accommodating. We didn't get a chance to interact much but appreciated their hospitality. A good place to stop if you are in the area.
Nice large level Area for even big rigs to turnaround. Our hosts were very accommodating and even offered us some herbs from her garden. We enjoyed visiting and wish we had more to time to spend. Hope they can stop at our place in Florida on one of their trips.
JEFF and Leeann are awesome. Our towing truck broke down just before arriving at their home. They helped arrange for a tow on our truck and then towed our 5rh wheel to their home. Wow!!!!!
although i wasn't there much during the day, i felt safe and secure in the gated back yard. I was very busy with my work, and my hosts were busy people too. We talked a couple times and i enjoyed the chats. On my next trip through i hope to stay with them again.
The was a wonderful stop on our journey south, Calypso were phenomenal hosts who gave us great info before and during our stay (including arrival directions, be sure to follow their instructions and not GPS). They also offered a wonderful box filled with info on the local area, things to see/do/eat...that was so helpful.
The spot is level and offers an easy pull in/turn around, with the gated entrance it felt like being on a private compound. We were very grateful for the 30 Amp electric and fresh water fill before we got on the road again. These folks were kind enough to let us stay over Thanksgiving and even shared some of the amazing smoked turkey they prepared on their own smoker! A true taste of OK that was delicious.
We greatly enjoyed chatting life and RV travels with you folks and can't thank you enough for sharing your lovely home spot with us. Thank you for a wonderful stay and hope you can get your RV out for a trip soon!
Very gracious and accommodating.
Great location,
Looking forward to coming back.
Calypso was so concerned about our arrival, when she found out the I-44 intersection was closed due to resurfacing, she notified us with new easy to follow instructions... Ezee Breezee! Upon our arrival, she met us at the driveway with a warm welcome and a box of tourist booklets for the area! This couple was warm and engaging friendly armed with a wealth of information for us to make plans for our sightseeing. Our sightseeing included, Woody Guthrie Center, Center of the Universe, Golden Driller, Gathering Place, The Vintage Sewing Center and Museum! We wish we had time to walk along the River walkway to see the wonderful art.
The RV spot was perfectly level and large. Our overall experience was 5 star !
Thank You Calypso for a great first exposure to Tulsa!!!
This was a great place. Super close to the city and secure with fireflies galore.
Also lots of helpful information about the area and more.
The host was great! Excellent and fast communication. Definitely take note when they tell you not to follow your maps. 😃 I was only there for a night but they offered a box full of brochures should I want to explore Tulsa! They’re really close to town, so it’s the perfect location if you want to be close to things to do!
Thanks again!
Very accommodating. Enjoyed our stay so much we decided to stay a little longer.
What a great host couple! Had a wide array of local travel brochures on sights around town ready for me to peruse! They also showed us around town and made us feel so welcome! We definitely would love to stay here with again on our next visit to Tulsa!
