Saved the Day

We were able to keep our schedule thanks to dancraig allowing us to stay there. Additionally he gave us 120V power to recharge our battery, dead due to user error. My apologies for not offering $$ for electric that we have never used at other hosts location. As deep woods boondockers with pop up canvas, we are not used to highway side camping like this spot. We were very happy to have a club member host in this area. Thank You Twice! Great conversation / visit and lifestyle exchange and insight into the monument business and rock collecting. The latter alone worth a visit.

Saved by the bell and a night among headstones!

My girlfriend and I were heading west on Hwy 2 and thought we would do an overnight in a Walmart parking lot. We got to Minot, ND, a Walmart, did some shopping, and, on the way to the camper, noticed a "no extended stay" sign. We verified with the manager this was true. It was late in the afternoon and we had to scramble to find an overnight location. I remember seeing a BW site in Velva but felt it was a bit off our path. I looked it up again and the host allows a same day notice so I made the request. It said the response time was usually about 9 hours so we thought we would just drive down and hope it would work out. To our surprise, he got back to us immediately and okayed the site. It was 20 minutes south so not bad. Upon arriving the host greeted us and showed us a couple of locations to park. Afterwards we visited with the host and a friend. It turns out this is a grave stone business - The Rock Shop - and our host is a 5th generation stone worker! Both of the guys were great fellows, fun to talk to, and very accommodating! The site was relatively quiet except for a train about 4am but that was not disruptive. This stop was well worth the 40 min roundtrip diversion from Hwy 2!

Nice stay

Dancraig was a nice host and helped us any way he could. It was a good overnight stop.

Convenient stop over

Dancraig was not there for our visit, but gave great instructions and accommodated us even though he already had another boondocker. There is quite a bit of street noise, but nothing a fan or other white noise won't block out. It was still better than a place in the RV park.

Great and Educational!

A really great guy who happens to have a fascinating business. The space itself is a parking lot. Perfect for us with lots of solar. He took the time to show me around the monuments business and talk about the industry, which I really appreciate! It will certainly be one of our more memorable boondocking experiences.

Great stay

Dan is a very good host. He has a nice level area to park in and it's easy to get in and out. In the morning Dan gave us a tour of his business and I wish we would have had more time to spend with him, he was very nice to talk to. I would highly recommend staying here.

We enjoyed visiting with Dan. He was very friendly and helpful. Hope he gets the opportunity to travel more himself. We definitely would stop there again in the future. We did enjoy the nostalgic whistle of the trains!

Great host and spot

Qe had a nice level spit to park our camper. Across the road were showers, dump station and we could fill our propane. Our host was great. Guided us step by step to get to his place as my GPS did not. He was so friendly and helpful of telling us where we could get specific things. What a kind man, grateful for our stay and meeting him
