Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostCountry setting. 10 acre lot with good privacy on very lightly traveled road. There is a semi-hidden pond in my front yard with a lot of plant growth around it. Neighboring lot also has a much larger pond further back. Be aware of these if you have a pet or child that likes to roam. Parking is close to pond. There are lots of frogs in pond. Know that they can get quite noisy at night. You may want to bring your own means of shade, if desired. There is very little available in my yard. Tents are welcome.
Be respectful.
Clean up after yourself and pet(s).
If you smoke cigarettes or cigars, I prefer you don't smoke in my presence. Please do not leave remnants of them on property.
Water fill up can be provided. A constant hookup cannot. Water is from well. Filtered through whole house system. Tastes good!
Donations accepted for electric hookup only. Enough to cover usage is adequate. Not necessarily $5/day. That is the lowest choice I'm able to set it at.
No running generators from 11 PM - 7 AM. I'm flexible on this if it's not loud.
Wifi is available upon request. I use a wired network, so wifi is normally off. Home connection speed is not very high, so bandwidth may be limited. AT&T and Verizon signals are both decent for phone and data. Had a guest with T-Mobile tell me they lost data signal when turning onto this road, but had it until then.
Didn't notice that holding tank rule at first. Seems unfair to me. I don't feel obliged to uphold it, so the many travelers I've seen using composting waste systems are welcome here.
Gravel road. Remains easily passable when wet. Only about a half mile from paved road. Plenty of overhead clearance on road and in my driveway for tall vehicles. This whole area is very flat. No hills or sharp curves in road. There is a little over 20 feet of space between ditches to work with when entering/exiting driveway. I had a guest with a 40' foot fifth wheel that seemed like it was just enough space for. If you're comfortable maneuvering a longer trailer or class A in that opening, you're welcome to request a stay. There is adequate space once in. No problem to stop in road and detach a towed vehicle, if that makes entry easier for you. Depending on size/weight of rigs, I may be able to accommodate an additional guest. Feel free to contact me if calendar shows spot already reserved.
In driveway. My driveway is gravel, about 220' long, and shaped like a backward L. The gravel ends in front of my house, but there is another spot to get out on the other side of the 330' lot if you drive across the grass. I do this with my boat in the summer, so I don't have a problem if visitors need to use it. However, please ask about the conditions before arriving if you would like to use this. During extended wet periods, the ground gets soft. I had a guest get stuck attempting to use this path and would prefer to avoid that happening again.
The small local village about 4.5 miles away has grocery, auto parts, hardware, pizza and ice cream parlors, restaurants, pub, lumber yard, laundromat, dollar store, parks, bowling, library, fuel and propane stations, and motor sports shop.
There are several other larger cities with popular attractions within a half hour drive or less. Grand Haven, Muskegon, and Grand Rapids are some of those. Grand Haven is popular for its beach, musical fountain, boardwalk, pier, and Coast Guard Festival. Muskegon is popular for its beaches, piers, museums, drive-in theater, parties in the park, Bike Time, and Irish Festival. Grand Rapids is popular for its museums, breweries, Meijer Gardens, John Ball Zoo, and Art Prize.
Lake Michigan is about 15 miles away. There are many other smaller lakes and rivers nearby. The Muskegon River is popular for tubing, canoeing, or kayaking. There are 4 different rental places for that nearby.
Muskegon has several RV dealers. Should you require a part, there's a good chance you'll find it locally.
In the summer and fall, there are blueberry fields and orchards nearby to pick your own fresh fruit from.
Michigan's Adventure, Michigan's largest amusement and water park, is in the area.
This was our 1st Boonedocking experience & a last minute trip. Our host was quick to correspond and was very friendly, helpful & shared some amazing homemade beer bread and fresh, home grown watermelon.. We especially loved the sweet Momma kitty, her kitten & visiting with the host. He presented us with a helpful print out with info that might be needed while we stay. This arrangement couldn't have been any better.
As you can see, host provides plenty of helpful details, and even an info pack of area sites that may be useful. Was kind and very generous, far above expectations for a Boondock.
Would definitely stay again if passing through.
Very nice host shared his home grown vegetables and fruit. Nice and quiet location. Thanks for hosting us.
Had a one night stay here when another spot fell through. The host was willing to take me on at the last minute, saved me staying somewhere on the highway. Very quiet here, host shared veggies and some fine watermelon for desert.
Our host was very helpful and accommodating. We requested a same day stay and he was very generous to let us come by right away. He provided us a typed listing of services in the area and gave suggestions on things to see and do in the area. His garden is enormous and we left with a bag of veggies! We enjoyed our stay! Thanks so much!
We were only there for an overnight, but Boondock Ravenna was a pleasant guy and was very nice in offering us veggies from his garden. There was plenty of room to throw the ball for the dog.
What a lovely stay! The area was private, the evenings quiet after our days of regional exploration. Most memorable of all was our BDW host! Unassuming and deferring, M was great! We enjoyed his peaceful and hospitable company- and the DELICIOUS, homemade beer bread he generously shared with us. M was kind and attentive to our 2 big dogs as well.
In a nutshell, if you appreciate serenity and simplicity don't pass up an opportunity with this BDW host!
We'll most definitely return to "Boondock Ravenna" if we pass his way again!
Very nice, quiet stay. This was our first trip with Boondockers welcome. Host was very accommodating to our needs. Enjoyed getting to know one of his little kitties, and he brought us a cucumber from his garden. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet, and chatting with host. Would definitely recommend BoondockRavenna.
Thanks for the warm welcome and last minute acceptance
We enjoyed our stay and our dogs were happy to have a place to run around and play for a bit.
Enjoyed the beer bread and conversation
We had a great visit. Host had printout of many local resources. Nice very quiet area.
We stayed 2 nights at BoondockRavenna. The host is very nice and welcoming! Even had printed info about what’s around for us.
We set up by the pond. Heard lots of frogs at night and our daughter was happy to see rabbits around.
Thank you for the great stay, tasty bread and friendly visit!
:)
Splendid. BoondockRavenna was a great experience for our family. The host was enjoyable to be around and easy going—he even took me fishing and had dinner with us.
If you’re traveling to the upper peninsula of Michigan, or down from Canada, he’s a great representative-a kind soul like many of us RVers. Truly glad he was part of our journey. Stay here if you can!
BoondockRavenna was such a gracious host! We really enjoyed getting to know one another. Wayden Farm is lovely with a natural pond in the front. We parked right in the front because the rain had been so extensive, but the property is beautiful and our host gave us great ideas about the area for site seeing. This was a wonderful experience. Thanks BoondockRavenna!! We will definitely call on you again when we're in the area!!
