Close to some of the best fishing on the Kenai Peninsula. Situated almost halfway between the Kenai River and Homer, Alaska. About 45 - 50 minutes either way. My land is on the bluff overlooking Deep Creek with views of Mt Illiamna, Mt Redoubt, and on a clear day, Mt Spur. All three are active volcanos that erupted last time in the late 80's. Redoubt is about 45 miles across the inlet and is still actively venting steam (which is a very good thing.) Fishing access is at the mouth of the river 2 miles away. Catch and release for salmon and steelhead at the property since there are spawning grounds directly below the bluff. You'll be able to see them if you are wearing polarized sunglasses. Dolly Vardens are keepers there. Lots of eagles to watch (they will sometimes fly low and scold you, but if you are not a tiny dog or cat, you will be safe. (LOL) Picnic table, a children only swing set, and BBQ grill are under a protected canopy. Outhouse available. Please feel free to use them all. No fireworks at camp, but you can go to the Ninilchik beach if you want to shoot some off into the ocean. Some tent spaces available along driveway. 3 Bears Grocery store and Tesoro gas station (can refill propane tanks) in Ninilchik. Suggested Local Attractions: Visit the Russion Orthodox Church on the oceanside bluff in Ninilchik. Local deep sea fishing charters. I use AFishHunt Charters in Ninilchik, but have been told by previous guests that Reel 'em Inn and Fishing Fool are also good. Hiking, Homer wildlife sanctuary, Kenai River fishing charters (The Dip Ship is 100% handicap accessible), Float trips down the Kenai River The (Drifters Lodge in Cooper Landing is who I use), clamming at Clam Gulch. Local fish processing available. 3 hour drive to Seward and a 4-1/2 hour drive from Anchorage. If you have time, either charter a flight or take the water taxi from Homer to Seldovia. Bring a kite to fly on the beach. Watch the tractor boat launch into the surf in Ninilchik. Favorite Restaurants: In Ninilchik: The Buzz for awesome coffee, tea and baked treats. Inlet View Restaurant (clam chowder fresh from Clam Gulch on Fridays only.) Roscoe's for one of the best Philly sandwiches on the West Coast. They also do great pizzas and calzones. I've been told by several guests that the local Thai restaurant is very good...tried it myself and I 100% agree with my guests. Food was really good (and plentiful). In Homer: Cosmic Cafe for soups and sandwiches (I definitely recommend their BLTs). Fat Olive's - best Pizza and gourmet soups and salads in Homer. Both feature fresh farm to market fare. Speaking of farm to market, there is a Saturday market in Homer. Favorite campfire treat: Straw'mores. Clean and cut tops off fresh strawberries. Pat very dry with paper towels. Skewer onto hot dog roasting sticks, coat with Marshmallow Fluff and toast over the campfire. You won't be able to eat just one!

House Rules

No smoking. No cigarette butts on grounds. Haul trash out. Do not try to burn cans or bottles in the fire pit. Please abide by forestry burning regulations. Make sure you have an extra water jug or a fire extinguisher handy when using the fire pit. Also, please make sure all embers are cold when you leave. No generators after midnight or before 7 am. Wild animals may wander through camp...please leave them alone and do NOT leave trash, food, or coolers outside. Please do not clean fish, game, or clams on the property since there is no way to wash those bear attractants away. Use public docks for that. Leave it as pristine as you found it so everyone can enjoy this beautiful spot. Most of all, have fun.

Location

GPS Coordinates: N60.021173 W151.643628 Access Road Conditions: Compacted dirt road with a tight right turn onto the driveway. I can make it in my 36' Class A with the toad detached, but it is tight, so use caution. A 42' Class A made it in without problems this year. Note that maneuvering room is tight, especially for 5th wheels over 40'. Main road leading into the property is packed dirt/gravel for about a mile. Wide enough for 2 RVs to carefully pass one another. Parking pad info: Please do not drive off the parking pad onto the grass. It is very soft on the edges and you could get stuck. We've had a few people who did not heed my warning and they had to wait for and pay for a tow vehicle to pull them out. The parking pad is solid and I easily park my 22,000 lb 36' class A on it, but the surrounding ground is deceptively soft. Easily supports humans walking on it and drains quickly when it rains, but will not support your RV. I marked the spaces for you to back in to. There are two long spaces for longer rigs marked #1 and #2. Numbers S3 and S4 are for smaller rigs or overflow. Please stay within the marked spaces. If you are assigned to space #1, please back in and put your passenger side wheels on the orange outside line. That will give you enough space to put your slides out. Space 2, please be sure that your rig stays within the lines when you have opened out your slides. Otherwise, the folks in Space #3 don't have enough room to back their rig in. I will let you know if there are other rigs coming in, otherwise, you can park your car/truck in the areas marked for the smaller rigs. If you leave your vehicle to go exploring (and I hope you do), please pull your awning in. First, it can suddenly get quite breezy on the bluff, and it could tear your awning or damage your RV. Second, it makes it difficult for other RVs to pull into their spaces to park their rigs if your awning is fully extended. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Tow vehicle must be disconnected from RV. Please plan to depart by noon of your last day unless I tell you differently. This is a vey popular BW place so demand for spaces are really high, especially over holiday or event weekends. I will be working in Denali as a Guest Services Representative for the McKinley Chalet so my family or I will probably not be in Ninilchik while you are visiting. My telephone number is 1-830-461-9632 if you have questions. If you are going to be going to Anchorage, Denali, or Talkeetna, I can give you some tips on things to do there. However, I usually don't have my phone on when I'm working since there is not much signal in Denali, so I will be answering texts when I'm off work. If you have a non-life threatening emergency and can't reach me, please call my son, Sean at 907-229-1727.

We did see some eagles & the mountains. It was nice & quiet. This was our 2nd stay at Deep Creek. We enjoyed our stay & hope to return again next year.

I only stopped briefly for the night, but in the morning when the clouds parted I could see the Resoubt volcano. Spectacular! Vikki was very helpful and I hope I’ll get to stop again someday. Make sure you look at the picture in the listing to figure out where you are assigned to park; the lines on the ground have faded and I had trouble reading the spot numbers.

Such a lovely place to spend a few nights. We had the entire place to ourselves but the communication with our host was very easy. Beautiful area, peaceful neighborhood, super quiet besides the river in the distance. A big thanks for hosting us!

Thanks so much for allowing us to stay two nights on your beautiful campsite! It was a great place to base out of for fishing near Ninilchik and seeing Homer. Eagles were a bonus!

What a beautiful & peaceful place to stay! We enjoyed our coffee in the morning and glass of wine at night sitting in our chairs over looking the river. Eagle’s soaring above us, and the distant mountains peeking out. We’ve been in AK all summer and we finally experienced our first real sunset here! ahhhhh I wish we were still there! Highly recommend. Thank You to a wonderful host! You have a magical place❤️
