Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostYou will be parking on a gravel driveway at the west end of our property. We are a mile outside of town, on a 1.3 acre lot, with a creek and many large, old trees. Quiet time after 9 PM, no generators running then, and outside music speakers off, too. This is a lovely area and we aim to provide you with a base so that you can explore the wonderful Columbia River Gorge. We have water there, and 15 amp electrical hook up in the driveway, if you are in need of a battery charge up.
We are practicing physical/social distancing.
No smoking on the property, outside your RV
No running generators or outside music after 9 PM
Electrical hook up only available if you are staying one night, or need a night to recharge your batteries.
Pets must be on leash out of the RV. Please clean up after them
This is a residential neighborhood with normal 2 lane roads. You should be able to back into the driveway - it is basically flat.
Park on one side of the driveway or elsewhere on the property. We have a graveled spot 200 yards from the house/driveway. You are welcome to park your tow vehicle or toad elsewhere
Due to COVID 19 restrictions, everyone over 3 years of age is required to wear a mask in public, indoors and out. The vast majority of our wonderful trails and waterfalls are closed to the public.
The Columbia River Gorge has more waterfalls than anywhere else in the US. There are many, many hiking trails available, to see the waterfalls - from easy strolls to some that you would need technical climbing equipment. You will need your own transportation around the area - this is a rural area. We are in Skamania County, the only county I know of that has a statute prohibiting the hunting or harassment of Big Foot. Downtown Stevenson has a number of eating out choices and some nice shopping. We live in the windsailing and kiteboarding capital of the US, as I understand. Come and see for yourself!
Had a great little getaway.
Got to spend one on one time with my daughter and see the gorge it’s a beautiful place.
The hosts were very accommodating and answered my many questions in a very timely manner.
They have nice quiet location.
I hope to spend more time again in the future.
Two thumbs up!
Cheers and happy camping.
Our hosts were very accommodating upon our arrival and they provided us a nice level space next to their yard. Kate and her husband were nice and very friendly. We had a great time!
Thanks so much for sharing your space!
Welcoming and enthusiast hosts. K was very helpful with local travel information. Nice quiet, flat parking. A great base for exploring the Gorge.
Host met us and was very friendly and helpful. Nice, quiet spot.
Wonderful stay and great hosts. I enjoyed the view, the conversation, and the peace and quiet.
Our hosts were friendly, outgoing and gave us lots of suggestions for any activities or needs. They even offered us the use of a local hiking book. Their spot for our trailer was very level and a breeze to set up, with plenty of room for our tow vehicle. We were offered water if we needed to fill our tanks and were able to use their wifi.
It is a great location to explore the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge. There's so much to do, we hope to make a return visit sometime soon.
Thank you!
We had a fantastic stay and enjoyed meeting the host. The location is level, and quiet. We enjoyed exploring the area, and hope to return one day! Would love to spend time with the hosts when Covid19 is no longer an issue!
Thankyou so much!😊
The hosts were wonderful!
We arrived before they got back from camping but they were gracious enough to allow us to stay.
When they got home they were super thoughtful setting up sprinklers for the kids to cool down and invited the kids and I to swing on their rope swing in the backyard. We were also invited to pick wild blackberries on their property.
They showed us where we can enjoy a creek on their property as well.
During our stay we got to enjoy the town and get to see windsurfers and the ice-cream in town is super good.
We loved our stay here and enjoyed getting to know them at a distance.
They even gave us a bag of apples and potatoes,it was great!
Highly recommend this location and these great hosts!
Our stay was so easy, convenient, and GORGEOUS! Kate was awesome and although we social distanced, we were still warmly welcomed and felt comfortable. Kate’s property is beautiful and we enjoyed plucking ripe black berries from the bushes and listening to the sound of the creek. Highly recommend!
We were greeted with such warmth! Our hosts were kind enough to offer suggestions for all of the "must-see" places in the gorge. The parking spot is quiet and private, with easy water access. There were plenty of bunnies, deer, and even a couple of adorable fawns that visited our site during our stay. We would definitely recommend a stay here!
What a wonderful experience. Hosts were there to warmly welcome us and help us get settled into the new home-away-from-home, right in the midst of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. We took our bikes to a short ride into town and enjoyed the ride along the river shore park, picked up some groceries at the local supermarket (very good selection). We had lots of space and privacy. Spent some time conversing with our hosts and comparing travel stories. Couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you for a fantastic first experience with Boondockers Welcome.
Thank you for such a wonderful 💓 first experience with Boondockers Welcome! Wish we had more time to get together. We appreciate your hospitality and all the information about the area. We really loved the surrounding nature and animals who visited us throughout our stay... Deer, rabbits, and birds. We wish you all the best and would love to visit next year!
My previous stay at this location was so pleasurable that I had to quickly return.
Please read my previous reference for this location.
Thank you,

I very much enjoyed visiting the Columbia River Gorge Away location.
The Hosts were both very accomadating to my comfort & needs including
informing me about the local easy to access public dump station.
Also, the Columbia Gorge is simply beautiful to drive through,
however, I am very glad that I did not arrive on Hwy 14 from the East.
The height of the multiple tunnels may have been a problem for my 12'4" CL.A.
Yes, I would happily return if invited back.

The Columbia River Gorge Get Away is in a fantastic location to numerious attractions. There are plenty of hiking trails, breathtaking waterfalls and the wonderful town of Hood River all within a 30 minute drive. Unfortunately most trails and public parks were closed due to COVID, so we spent most of our time in the town of Hood River enjoying microbrews and walks along the river watching the kite surfers. Our hosts were very hospitable and friendly, we spent an evening chatting about camping and travel on their front porch and sharing local beers. Will definitely visit again once everything opens back up.
Very pleasant overnight experience with this interesting couple who were very hospitable. Their property accommodated our Class B van perfectly in a beautifully wooded environment. We shared camping experiences and tips on the local attractions.
Beautiful setting overlooking a creek. Very accommodating, felt very safe.
Thank you for welcoming me into your home and making me feel welcome. Good luck with all the prep for your upcoming summer tour. May you have peaceful travels.
The hosts were a pleasure to chat with. Very interesting couple and quite informative about the area. Would definitely stay again.
Prompt response, clear directions, super travel recommendations and fabulous, friendly folks. Thanks so much!
We kept in contact and made this stay work for both of us.
your great.

Once again, big kudos to Kykate and the Smiling Bus Driver for having us right back for a quick stay to address some urgent matters. These folks love people and it truly shows trough great hospitality. We can't wait to be back in the area for another visit!
Kykate and partner are uniquely kind and helpful people. Some might say, "salt of the earth." They repeatedly went out of their way to accommodate us and our large family, dog included. Great advice about enjoying the Columbia River Gorge, helpful tips for resources in town, and genuine kindness are what you can expect if you choose this location.
Our whole family was invited to a neighbor's house to press freshly harvested apples into cider! Afterwards, we not only had gallons of apple cider, but two additional friends, who live across the street. The next day we had apple cake, apple jelly, apple butter delivered to us in our RV. Wow!! Super yummy!
We also suffered a minor personal setback while staying here and they graciously allowed us to extend our stay until the problem was resolved. They really care and it shows in many ways. We are deeply grateful for our stay, and hopefully we will drop in again the next time we are in the Pacific Northwest.
GoGracefully
Kykate and her husband are interesting and welcoming hosts. We toured each other's rigs, picked and exchanged apples for pears and plugged in just long enough to brew morning coffee. Kykate is well versed in area history. It was just an overnight stop, but I hope next summer we can plan a longer stay and explore the area.
Stevenson is a beautiful little town, on the 'quiet' (north) side of the Columbia River Gorge, just down the way from White Salmon and Hood River. It's a perfect spot if you're a kiteboarder or windsurfer, within easy reach of several launch spots. Our hosts were very kind and helpful, letting us use their electric, water and internet. Thanks so much!
Boondocking in the Columbia River Gorge area—anywhere you go is simply gorgeous. The location, and our host were perfect. They both are very outgoing and supplied us with mountains of information. Thank you for your hospitality!
A lovely friendly, chatty couple. They are very knowledgeable about the area. Their place is about 1 and half mile up the hill from Stevenson. Felt very safe in this quiet street. From here you have access to lots of hikes, although crossing the toll bridge in an RV cost $3 each way. Enjoy a Beer at the Walking Mans Brewery. Easy back in with our Class C 26 foot.
kykate was a wealth of knowledge about the area, and the flowers around their home are to die for!! It is a quiet, beautiful place, with so much to do in the area. She and her husband are fun to talk with, and we really had a great stay. I highly recommend their place!!
We had water and electricity, peace and quiet, friendly accommodating hosts, and a close proximity to the beautiful gorge. Kate and Dennis lent us a very helpful book, shared tips on things to do and see, spent time visiting with us, and even gifted us with home made jam as we Departed. Kate gave us a tour of the property, including the beautiful Creek. They recommended the nearby Gorge Interpretive Center and it greatly exceeded our expectations, don't miss it. We loved their custom built camper, very creative and charming, would love to have one like that. Saw bunnies and plenty of birds in the yard each day. We highly recommend this boondockers option!
A very nicely located quiet, level spot, and chatting with them was icing on the cake. 😃. Thank you!
