Our home is on 40 acres just outside of town. Wildlife abounds here! We have a large number of white-tailed deer, birds of every sort and size, raccoons and coyotes (you'll probably hear them!) We mow some walking paths and welcome you wander the property when to stay here. We hope you'll visit and enjoy the peace and quiet of our property in beautiful southeastern Minnesota!
- Firewood is available on-site & free of charge
- Well water available on-site from frost-free spigots, but there are no hook-ups. This is the water we use for our home, so it is safe to drink, but is hard water with a high iron content
- Electricity is available on-site - but there are no hook-ups. You're welcome to use any of our outdoor outlets for charging phones, etc
- Dump Station is 6.4 miles away - at Chester Woods Park - for a fee of $15
- Bagged trash and un-bagged recyclables can go into our bins (by the pool.)
Please drive slowly once you've entered our property (at the gates - where the pavement ends)
No unsupervised children
All pets must remain on a leash and fully under your control any time they are not in your RV. There is a lot of wildlife here; this is for their safety as well as the safety of your pet(s)
- pick up after your animal(s)
- no unattended animals
- if your dog barks excessively you will be asked to leave
Our driveway is 1/3 mile of gravel that is typically in good condition. The RV and tow vehicle parking is just off of the driveway, in a large, fairly level, grassy area. If the ground is saturated when you stay, we'll ask you to park on the edge of the driveway to our barn rather than in the grass. We ask that people drive slowly as there are many wild animals on our property and also to minimize impact on the grassy areas.
Our site will require some backing of your rig. There is ample room and the driveways are wide. We have had semi-trucks back through all areas without difficulty, but if you are not comfortable backing your rig, our location is probably not the best choice for you. If you simply need another pair of eyes, please let us know and we'll gladly come down to the site and help out :)
There is ample parking available where the RV can park.
Please avoid sending stay requests during times when our calendar indicates our host location is unavailable. When we travel we usually do not have internet or cell service, so will not see stay requests and cannot respond to them. We tend to go quite a ways off the beaten path :)
Quarry Hill Nature Center, Chester Woods Park, Mayo Clinic (their self-guided art tour is well worth a visit!), Plummer House, Assisi Heights and the Wilson House, Silver Lake Boat & Bike Rentals.
J..&S.. were an incredibly authentic couple, sincerely interested in our travels and openly sharing many of the experiences they have learned from. Their location is secluded and exceptionally quiet. It was an honour and privilege to meet with them and we really pray we will encounter them on the road sometime.
Very friendly people and very, very nice place. We recommend it for sure!
The best way to describe our evening is perfection. We received a warm welcome as soon as we arrived. It was like staying in a wildlife refuge. The firefly were amazing! Very private, quiet & beautiful!
These hosts were extremely kind and generous in opening their place for us to stay even though they would not be home during the time we planned to stay. Unfortunately for us, we were unable to stay due to the large size of our 5th wheel as we were unable to get in to the place where we needed to be.
We saw a beautiful wild turkey as well as a large white tailed deer doe in our brief time while there. I highly recommend this place and we'd love to return here in the future with a smaller RV. They are extremely friendly.
