Our home is on 40 acres just outside of town. Wildlife abounds here! We have a large number of white-tailed deer, birds of every sort and size, raccoons, and coyotes. We mow some walking paths and welcome you wander the property when to stay here. We hope you'll visit and enjoy the peace and quiet of our property in beautiful southeastern Minnesota!
- Firewood is available on-site & free of charge
- Well water available on-site from frost-free spigots, but there are no hook-ups. This is the water we use for our home, so it is safe to drink, but it is hard water with a high iron content
- Electricity is available on-site - but there are no hook-ups. You're welcome to use any of our outdoor outlets for charging phones, etc
- Dump Station is 6.4 miles away - at Chester Woods Park - for a fee of $15
- Bagged trash and un-bagged recyclables can go into our bins (by the pool.)
Please drive slowly once you've entered our property (at the gates - where the pavement ends)
Do not bring firewood onto our property. We are fortunate to not have Emerald Ash Borers or other tree-killing pests; please help us keep it that way. We provide free firewood and kindling.
No unsupervised children
All pets must remain on a leash and fully under your control any time they are not in your RV. There is a lot of wildlife here; this is for their safety as well as the safety of your pet(s)
- pick up after your animal(s)
- no unattended animals
- if your dog barks excessively you will be asked to leave
We let our Boondockers Welcome guests set the level of contact they want with us as their hosts. We try to greet you when you arrive, then leave you to seek us out if you have questions or want to visit. We get that sometimes you've had a long day and just want to chill out in solitude. If we're out in the yard and you feel like visiting, walk over and say "hi", or come to the house and ring the doorbell.
We have chickens (laying hens) behind the barn. They enjoy visitors, but no matter how much they try to convince you to, please do not open the gate. Also, be aware that the fencing around their area is electrified.
Our driveway is 1/3 mile of gravel. The RV and parking is just off of the driveway, in a large, fairly level, grassy area. If the ground is saturated when you stay, we'll ask you to park on the edge of the driveway to our barn rather than in the grass. Please drive slowly as there are many wild animals on our property and also to minimize dust and impact on the grassy areas.
Our site DOES require some backing of your rig. If you are not comfortable backing your rig, our location is not the right choice for you. If you simply need another pair of eyes, please let us know and we'll gladly come down to the site and help out :)
There is ample parking available asjacent to where the RV can park.
Please avoid sending stay requests during times when our calendar indicates our host location is unavailable. When we travel we usually do not have internet or cell service, so will not see stay requests and cannot respond to them. We tend to go quite a ways off the beaten path :)
Quarry Hill Nature Center, Chester Woods Park, Mayo Clinic (their self-guided art tour is well worth a visit!), Plummer House, Assisi Heights and the Wilson House, Silver Lake Boat & Bike Rentals.
Absolutely beautiful property with a picnic area for our rv. Enjoyed the wildlife. We hope we can stay here again!
A lovely and private and quiet site. The hosts were top drawer and offered to help us get set up. They were gracious and very friendly. Recommended!
Great host, beautiful property, secluded & quiet. And fresh eggs to boot, can't beat that! Would stay again for sure.
We were very pleased with our stay at Firefly Ridge. The hosts greeted us with farm fresh eggs when we pulled up. The woods around us were beautiful and I wish we had a little bit more time there to explore. The fireflies in the evening put on a delightful show for us. Thank you JazzyzGurl!
Very pleasant comfortable stay at Firefly Ridge! I didn’t get a chance to visit very long with my hosts but could tell they are very friendly and kind people. I hope I get to stay there many more times when I’m visiting family in Rochester!!
Quiet, secluded setting with wildlife and fireflys. Wonderful hosts! A gem!
We enjoyed our stay very much!! You can definitely tell that the hosts put there heart and soul into this place. The property is absolutely beautiful (right when you enter the gate). Our friendly hosts greeted us when we arrived and gave us some ideas on where to park, but left it up to us. There was plenty of space for us to enjoy. We walked the trails and up and down the long driveway. We did get to see the deer and fawns. The best part was in the evening/night time with our bonfire going and the night is getting darker, you can see the stars above and then you look towards the trees and see it...the flickering lights from the fireflies. So amazing to see and experience!! Our host thought of everything that would make a person feel welcome. The firepit and chairs and even a nice bench and table. They had a brochure of the different attractions around the area and also what to avoid...particularly the wild parsnip.
We enjoyed a little chat before we left. This was truly an amazing experience!!
Thank you so much JazzyzGurl for giving us the opportunity to have this experience. We absolutely love your place!!!! And thank you for the travel tips and ideas, and suggestions on the different apps to check out. We definitely would love to come back.
We were warmly welcomed as we arrived on site. We were directed where to park which was in a beautiful meadow, we were told to expect to see lots of wildlife but only saw a couple of turkeys. Host brought us 1/2 dozen eggs from her chickens. The next we were told the pool was open, which we took advantage of. Would definitely stay here again.
It’s our first time using the website and the amazing experience with the hosts definitely gave us a lot of confidence for the rest of the trip. The hosts welcomed us upon our arrival, and we also chatted a bit before departure. It’s a large yard so there is plenty of room for privacy. We enjoyed it!
Our hosts welcomed us upon arrival and we loved visiting with them! We were just passing through so I wished we could have stayed longer. Hopefully someday! Highly recommend!
Beautiful property with plenty of room , and places to go for a walk. We seen several deer, an owl and wild turkeys. Quite and peaceful area. Would recommend to anyone and would stay again. Very much appreciated 😊
J..&S.. were an incredibly authentic couple, sincerely interested in our travels and openly sharing many of the experiences they have learned from. Their location is secluded and exceptionally quiet. It was an honour and privilege to meet with them and we really pray we will encounter them on the road sometime.
Very friendly people and very, very nice place. We recommend it for sure!
The best way to describe our evening is perfection. We received a warm welcome as soon as we arrived. It was like staying in a wildlife refuge. The firefly were amazing! Very private, quiet & beautiful!
These hosts were extremely kind and generous in opening their place for us to stay even though they would not be home during the time we planned to stay. Unfortunately for us, we were unable to stay due to the large size of our 5th wheel as we were unable to get in to the place where we needed to be.
We saw a beautiful wild turkey as well as a large white tailed deer doe in our brief time while there. I highly recommend this place and we'd love to return here in the future with a smaller RV. They are extremely friendly.
