House Rules

We do request at least 48-hour advance notice for all new reservation requests. Thank you. Please pick up all trash and leave the site as you found it. If you need something just ask. We have a large family with active grown sons. Therefore there will be times when we may be practicing target shooting, practicing bow hunting, driving tractors and atvs. Overall the majority of the time our place is very quiet and peaceful.

Quiet Country Couple Details: We are a quiet, friendly couple with 1 child at home yet and 5 grown children who have flown the coop. We are non-intrusive but available to help when needed. Home Town: Our place is a small farm located on a gravel road approximately 2 miles off the highway. No other houses can be seen from our property. We have a pasture with a pond, a barn, a pole building, and a few other small buildings. We are within eye sight of the Turkey River and within 15 miles of the Mississippi River. Elkader (nearest town) has a population of 1273. There is a family owned grocery store, a small movie theater, and numerous quaint shops. The closest town with a Walmart is 21 miles away. You won't find a more peaceful setting than our place. Favorite Boondocking Locations: We haven't boondocked much but would like to start doing so. Skills or Expertise to Share: Agricultural knowledge and experience, canning and preserving, sewing, crochet, knitting, tatting, business experience (start-up, ownership, finances, etc), and construction.

... with grand plans and excellent Honey. Somewhat complicated by a family issues (sound familiar?) and a genuine need to upgrade their Electrical infrastructure. They have my genuine Best Wishes! C

Brian and Chris were great hosts. The spot was level and we had a lot of room. Chris had a whole book of things to see and do in the area which was very helpful. Chris has many homemade and farm fresh items. The area is very beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. Would defiantly stay again.

We arrived after a long drive and were happy to have a place to stretch out and sleep for the night. We loved the cool nights and fire fly watching. The hosts were gracious.
