Art studio and home on 2 wooded acres where I do my art. About 50 miles from New Orleans, near nature areas for walking, canoeing, fishing. Beach area about 30 miles away. Large grass area to park rig and toad. Rain causes grassy area to be slushy. Easy access to Interstate 59 and some fast food joints.
No party, quiet home area.
No late night noise, generator or music after 9 PM.
No trash left behind, take it with you.
No barking noise after 9 PM.
No unruly children or pets.
No dumping on property, but nearby.
No real long stay.
Art studio is off flat paved state highway, through gravel driveway to open field of grass. Smaller RV can use open area to turn to face highway before parking. Some areas have a few trees that can be parked under but not much space so can only pull in and back out. Larger RV must back into grassy area to turn around and face out. With rain the grassy area is slushy. Long rigs may have issues if the ground is wet. Class B's have no issues,
I have about quarter acre grassy open area that can park car and RV together. All grass and soft in heavy rain. Long driveway with gravel to share if needed. Have areas under trees that are tight must drive into them and back around to face out. Long trailers being towed may have difficulty turning in yard if it is rainy. Knowing how to back a rig is a must. Gate is narrow, but passable with driving skill. Busy highway at traffic hours, but large shoulders. Can use subdivision across highway as turn in to turn rig around to face my gate to drive in without need to wait on highway for traffic to clear.
Practicing safe distance and mask to keep host and guests safe.
Honey Island Swamp, COE Day Use area at Lock One, Nature Centers, Pearl River boat launch into Pearl River local seafood places. Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches and casinos about 30 minute drive. Can drive to New Orleans about 50 miles away. Or simply camp out in large wooded area in backyard with walking trails.
The fig street art studio spot is a great stop if you are checking out NOLA! We were able to hookup, recharge and relax a bit on a rainy day. Our host was friendly and knowledgeable of the area. It was a bit of a narrow entrance but we had no problem with our smaller fifth wheel. Also ran into some fire ants so we tried to stay in. We went to visit the nearby wildlife refuge- Bogue Chitto which was a nice walk and we had dinner at “Da Kitchen Too” near the beach. Would definitely recommend staying here!
Bluecat-NOLa is a great host! He shared great tips and stories. Awesome time! Thank you again!
Our host was so thoughtful and kind. He greeted us at the driveway showed us around, and made sure we had everything we needed. There was plenty of wood for our fire. Really enjoyed our one night stay!
Such a lovely, relaxing stay. Beautiful place. Kind host. We maintained social distance and I wore my mask as a usually do because of the pandemic.
Hubby and I arrived planning on a 3 night stay but quickly knew 3 days with our awesome host was not enough. He generously offered for us to stay on a few days on the gorgeous property.
Our host was very friendly and welcoming. He showed us several different spots to choose from.
We were nestled among shade trees and flowering shrubbery.
After only a few hours we determined that we now had a friend for life. Actually a family member.
The location is convenient for a trip to New Orleans or to the Mississippi shore. But the best times were spent relaxing in the yard and in the evening by the fire.
We loved being with BluCat-Nola. And will be visiting again!
Our host was very welcoming. Too bad we were staying only one day. The site is quite private. We had a fire with bambou stick and discovered that they blast. A first experience for us.
Thank you Bluecat-NOLa
Well, what can we say about our stay with this kind man?! He was so accommodating, gracious and welcoming. Not only to myself and my dog DUKE, but to the other 4 RVers we met during our stay there. He is so kind, he even allowed us to arrive earlier and stay a few extra days just so we could soak up all Louisiana and New Orleans had to offer. Can’t say enough good things about this man. Thank you so much. We hope to see you again this next year. A must stay!!!
We had a nice rest at this spot after a long day of driving. We enjoyed meeting our host and appreciated all his helpful tips about travelling in this area. Safe travel!
We stopped for one night. Nice guy and easy parking. There is a preserve about 30inutes which had nice nature trails.
We had a great stay here. Jerry is a wonderful host who had great suggestions on what to do in the area. We will definitely come back next time we are in the area and suggest staying here to anyone!
I spent 3 wonderful nights here. It’s close enough to New Orleans that I went there 2 days in a row. My host was very friendly and helpful with information about his area and NOLA.
Jerry was a warm and welcoming host. Couldn't do enough for us. Made sure we had everything we needed. Fun time sitting around the campfire sharing tales. Highly recommend Fig Street Art Studio as a BD host.
Very good stay! The property was nice and quiet and only 40 minutes from NOLA! We didn’t get to meet the host due to the time we got there but everything was great! I would recommend!
We really enjoyed our visit to Fig Street Art Studio. Our host was very gracious with his stories being a native of New Orleans. Great suggestions on places to go. He’s got a great spread, lots of space, some walking trails, we would love to come back again and spend more time.
Nice place, nice host... although this stop-over is close to town, it seems like it is out in the country. Bamboo groves, magnolias, azaleas and cedar trees line the property. Our host is quite a talented artist, as well. Very gracious and accommodating host. Best recommendations.
We didn’t get to meet our host, but found his place no problem, it was a rainy evening, but had a good night sleep in a quiet place. Would have loved to talk to him and learn more about Louisiana, would like to stay again if in the area, thanks again Bob and Sue
I had a lovely time staying At this host. He is very caring, funny, he knows louisianne very well, we had a good time talking. I would recommand this place anytime and take the time to talk to the host he is one of a kind!!
Excellent host. We had a good night talking with the host and another boondocker guest.
We had a lovely stay. Host was very helpful, chatty, and happy for the company. At the same time, he was respectful of our privacy. We fit our 28’ trailer next to his house and enjoyed the bambo and greenery on the other 3 sides.
Propane was available just a couple minutes away. Very convenient location overall. Definitely recommend.
We had a great experience at Fig Art Studio! The host was so friendly and gave us a tour of his property. We also were able to see his artwork and creativity all over the property. We were only staying one night and were able to tuck back into a spot on the left side of the house. We felt very welcomed and safe. We slept great. If we are ever in LA we will definitely stop by again.
Blue Cat is quite the artistic gentleman. We enjoyed his art, and had some great campfire chats. He is quite knowledgeable about the entire area and the history. There is quite a bit of downed firewood on Blue Cat's property, still evidence of Hurricane Katrina's visit.
We had a nice relaxing visit before heading East towards Mississippi.
Thanks Blue Cat for being part of the Boondocker's network.
Thank you so much we have a greet time visiting all of New Orlean and your information was verry good for us
Nice place you have 😊
Had a very enjoyable stay here and some great chats with the host. He gave us lots of ideas for things to see in the area and we chose to explore Bay St. Louis. We truly enjoyed the small bay-side town with the large Live Oaks and attractive southern architecture. We watched the movie "This Place is Condemned" before going into town which made the visit even more enjoyable - since the movie was filmed there.
I was able to get our pickup truck and 28 foot trailer into the host's spot with a bit of care and appreciated the access to water, 30 amp hydro and really good wifi. I also appreciated the opportunity to collect a couple of bamboo poles from the yard with a machete to use for for tarp-tent system in the upcoming desert portion of our trip. We appreciated getting a tour of his artwork including his Van Gogh interpretations and portrait work.
We highly recommend this host and his property. We will definitely drop by for another visit the next time we are passing through. He definitely made us feel very welcome and was very interesting to chat with, whilst sitting on his front porch.
Nous avons passé une nuit à cet endroit. Tranquille et bien situé.
Nôtres hôtes n’était pas là et nous a accepté quand même. Merci beaucoup.
Bluecat-NOLa was out of town when we wanted to stay but welcomed us to his property anyways. What a welcome respite from our previous night in a very noisy rest area. The property is wooded - we felt like we were back in the forest! Bluecat-NOLa sent lots of info about how to get to his location and about the surrounding area. I hope we get to meet our next time through.
I had no trouble finding it or parking, really cute house and secluded area to park. Very nice host.
Enroute from Houston to Raleigh, NC, I needed a one-night stopping place. Bluecat-NOLa responded almost immediately to my request, generously offered for me to stay on his place even though he was away, and sent me instructions about how to get in. It was JUST what I needed, and only a very few miles from highway 59, which I was following North into Mississippi. Thanks so much!
Such a nice kind and generous person! His place was a perfect location for sightseeing Nola. He is very knowledgeable about the area and gives helpful suggestions what to see and in which order. We hope to see him again 😊
What a lovely spot, just as described...an artist studio in the woods, so quiet, just perfect. I so wish I hadn't been on a mad dash x-c drive and could've sat a spell! I'll be back...thanks so much Jerry!
Bluecat-NOLa was a wonderful host. Although we only got to spend a few brief moments with our host, his generosity and kindness shone brightly. Thank you for a wonderful stay, and perhaps we will be able to see you again!

We had a great time staying with this host. Lots of good conversations, walk around the property. We even went out to lunch at a local eatery too. Great source of info about the area especially New Orleans. Would love to stay with this host again if we pass through again.
Wonderful stay in a beautiful area. Feel like we have made a new friend.
Very nice and fun Host. Took us on a real nice sea nick drive. Great place to stay, knows the area very well. Thanks for all your hospitality and we made it home safe! May see you again some time in the future! Take care!
Lovely secluded site. Very hospitable host with great local knowledge. Would certainly enjoy another visit.
Wonderful time we had with host. He is very helpful, friendly, welcoming and accommodating. He gave us great information and good advice for visiting New Orleans and cajun area. He has a good background in arts and history so he is very interesting. Nice and peaceful place.
Bluecat-NOLa was very accommodating including giving us the correct directions by phone and standing at his driveway gate waving like a mad man when Google maps led us in the wrong direction. He helped us maneuver our rig and car trailer to be positioned for our early morning departure. Unfortunately we had to depart within a couple of hours of setting up to accelerate our arrival at relatives.
My stay was great & Jerry is a friendly host.
I hope to return again.
Thank you Jerry!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bluecat NOLa. Wonderful host who shared his knowledge of the area and gave us tips on where to go. Had fun making a campfire and sharing two meals and great conversation with our host and some fellow Boondockers.
Plenty of room for our 33’ RV and great property for walking our dogs.
We look forward to visiting again when our travels take us to Louisiana.
Couldn’t have asked for a better first experience! We enjoyed a campfire on our first night and lots of good conversation. Our host gave us great advice on how to see New Orleans that helped us fit in much more to our short stay than we would have been able to do on our own. Would definitely stay here again!
Enjoyed learning about the area and went to a Mardi Gras boat parade. Drove to New Orleans and across Lake Pontchartrain. Shared some wine on the porch, played some ukes, told some jokes, burned some old bamboo and learned a lot about each other.
Jerry is a very interesting individual whose background includes working as a lawyer and Justice of the Peace. Our host welcomed us with open arms and had a terrific place spec’ed out on his property. He has some of the most interesting bamboo specimens we have ever seen. Jerry is very well read, has a great sense of humour, and a most welcoming attitude. We look forward to meeting him on the road.
What an amazing stay! Not a dull moment at this location. We started by promptly getting stuck in the mud but fear not! The sheriff pulled in not 5 minutes later and helped pull us out with his big truck. We had great conversations here and we will definitely come by again when we are in the area. The neighbors stopped by to chat as well and they were just as hospitable as our host. They even do swamp tours during the warmer months so make sure to explore that option if you can!
Thanks again we absolutely loved it!!
I was late getting there because of camper repairs that couldn't wait
Then I realized I was I was actually a day early.
Pretty surroundings and quiet peaceful night.
