Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostWe are located in the small town of Hinckley. It is a quiet area. Keep in mind our home and land is a work in progress and we are continually working on it and trying to make it a better place. Our family is very friendly and outgoing.
No getting drunk. Not a party house.
Our property is dirt and gravel just depends on where your wanting.
We own about 8 acres and there is plenty of spots for just about anything.
We have many different attractions within a reasonable distance. We have several national parks within a couple hours, we have the Japanese interment camp site, Little Sahara sand dunes, reservoir, rock hounding, historical sites (including our home), movie theater, bowling and much more.
Can't wait to come back and see the progress of your project!! Lovely family, peaceful stay. Thank you..
Thank you Caldwells for your generous hospitality! Who shows up on Halloween? Well, we do and the Caldwells were so gracious and kind! Absolutely stop here if you’re passing through and need a place to stay. They will treat you like family. Blessings to you and your family!!
A pleasant host and a nice place to stay, with great flexibility. In fact, it was the funnest BW stay that I have had, due to the host’s unique home.
Arranged a one night's stay but it was so pleasant and quiet we stayed an extra night. Had a great dinner with the hosts our second night. Tour of the school house, electric and water made our stay that much better. Thanks Old School!
Small town but big heart!!
Got a nice tour of school to home restoration project
Inspiring
Hope to come back and see good progress
Thanks for your fine hospitality

What an amazing location and host. This town, Hinckley and Delta (nearby), are the friendliest ppl I’ve ever met. Host was so helpful and left no item unattended to.
Property was clean, grass was green and we can’t say enough good about our host and location.
There is a reason why these folks have so many positive reviews: because they deserve them!
We only stayed for one night, and we appreciated the spot. It was easy to get in and out to their quiet spot.
Really had a nice stay. Very quiet night. Host was very friendly and offered water electric, and even hot tub. Will be staying here again!
We can’t overstate how wonderful our stay was! What a great town and great spot! We will definitely be back to explore Hinkley, UT. The hospitality extended to us by the Caldwell’s was unparalleled.
Kevin and family were awesome! They gave us a tour, our kids played and the site was quiet, quaint and beautifully set! Would totally go back again and stay longer and invited them to join us at our place if they are in the Seattle area!
Doc and I enjoyed our stay it was very quiet and peaceful. We had the opportunity to relax and enjoy our stay. His son was very nice and accommodating. The school that was turned into a house was absolutely amazing. I appreciate them letting us stay on their property.
Unfortunately we did not get to meet our hosts, as they were out of town. Very quiet level spot, didn’t even need to unhitch. Very easy in and out.
Thanks so much for having us.
Enjoyed my overnight stay. Very peaceful, quiet location. Would definitely stay again!
Thank you for letting me stay. Lovely place and peacefully quiet!
Wonderful hosts, very helpful and nice. We got a tour of the school, which is their home, and they’re doing a great job renovating it. There’s a park near by that my kids enjoyed. It was a great place to stay. We’re very thankful for their hospitality.
A little bit out of way for us, but definitely worth it! The family was out of town but their son was an amazing host! Very attentive and concerned about our needs. 3 or 4 other rigs there at the same time, but we all had our own”private” space. He gave us an awesome tour of the school his family had purchased and the labor intensive work they are doing to give it life again. Has to be a labor of love! Will definitely come back in a few years to see the progress!!
Meant to write this review earlier, better late than never. Absolutely the best experience we could have asked for. Kevin took the time to show us around his home, which is the most unique home I’ve ever seen, and I own a real estate brokerage! The whole family is awesome, and I’m thankful to have experienced this place. Look forward to seeing Kevin and his family again.
Such an amazingly nice guy. He responded within five minutes of my request to stay here. Extremely hospitable and friendly. Huge amount of room for our large rig. We really enjoyed staying here so much and look forward to coming back.
We had another great stay here. It was our second time. Great tree shade. 110v was not working well this time. No big deal for us.
Easy access from the highway. Level parking area with plenty of room and nice shade trees. Good neighborhood for walking our dog. Generous and welcoming host. The old school house is very impressive. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely stay here again.
We had a great time with the family. We found a cozy tree to hid from the sun and relaxed in the grass during Labor Day weekend.
The weather was unseasonably warm and we were grateful to have a shady place for the night. Beautiful lawn where are pup was able to get some much needed playtime. Gracious host, very welcoming.
Enjoyed our stay at the Old School Hinckley. The host was very helpful and informative. Loved hearing about his family and his school-to-home project!
Once again... Great stay, just a quick overnight, but lovely spot for a peaceful nights sleep
This host was amazingly welcoming. Beautiful quiet spot. His home is an incredible work in progress. I would love to return and see it when he gets it finished. Entire family was very friendly and made us feel right at home.
Would highly recommend a stay here.
I very much enjoyed my stay. I didn't get to meet.his wife as she was out of town and I didn't get to spend much time with with him. It was Pioneer weekend and he was very busy. Great place and great host.
We had a great time in the small town of Hinckley, UT. We had a great host and this was a nice stopping point between Great Basin NP and Zion NP. We also took in the Pioneer Days parade before we left town. Would recommend this Boondocker’s location.
Big hearts, big family, and a big house. From start to finish, our stay at the Hinkley school was wonderful. If you like privacy you can have it. If you want company, it is there too. The school house that they are converting to their home is huge. The grounds outside are huge and far enough off the main road so every night was peaceful. Thanks again to the Caldwells.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit with this sweet family who are so accommodating. As a carpenter, I really appreciated Kevin taking the time to show me their amazing mammoth project! I hope to visit them again soon.
I was exhausted from too much driving, too much heat, and too much visiting with family. The family was welcoming and kind. I appreciated their invitation to eat dinner with them, and see the work they are doing on restoring the old school building they live in. I was too wiped out to be social - hope to visit them again sometime and see their progress on Old School Hinckley!
The stay was great.....Kevin and the young adults were great hosts.and that includes little River.....Thank You so much....the tour of your home was wonderfull...will stay again and hope to meet your wife....Thanks again Joe and Earlene
So thankful for this host site! The host and his family are proof of the GOOD in this world!
Very nice family with an ambitious project. A generous, thoughtful man of great vision. And Yes, we asked about the elephant.
The location is quiet and the area has lots of amenities. We highly recommend it.
We had a wonderful time touring their schoolhouse home and watching their two year old chase ducks. Our host was kind, accommodating, and helpful. We would definitely recommend them as a friendly place along the loneliest highway!
Kevin was very nice. He came out to chat and to make sure we had everything we needed; he wanted us to know that he was there to help anyway he could. His son met us when we arrived and helped us hook up to their electricity. It was a quiet and pretty place to spend the night. But I did forget to ask about the elephant in the photo.
This was a very special place being that the owners are renovating an old school house. Great hosts and they even gave us a tour of their home/renovation. They offered electric hookups but we declined as we really didn’t need it. They are very friendly and generous!
Response time through this site was great. Via email we were approved to stay even thought the host was out of town. Got to the school a bit early and no one was home as the family member that was to greet us was at school. When he got home he made sure we had what we needed. Since we all had an early day the next day, we did not see him again. It was a pleasant stay, very quiet and comfortable. We will remember this one for future reference.
Very friendly and helpful. We left early and didn't get a chance to thank them. Thank you.
Our hosts and their loving family were as good hearted as they could be.
Easy access tonThe Loneliest Hwy.
They offered 20 amp and we gladly accepted as it was hot.
We were invited to dinner a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and the tour of their home.
Thank you so very much for your hospitality!

I feel as if I won the lottery! This was my very first boondocking experience. They all were so kind and compassionate. I arrived as the sun set and they helped me hook up to electricity in almost dark. The teen children did the job for me. The next day they troubleshooted and were very solicitous of my needs. I got a tour of their massive renovation and had plans to stay a few extra days to help them out. I would recommend doing that if you can! These people are the salt of the earth. SO very worth the 'out-of-the-way' trip. I will use BoondockersWelcome.com again.
I feel as if I won the lottery! This was my very first experience and it did not disappoint! They were so compassionate and sensitive to my needs. This is only my 3rd time towing my RV, quite a novice. They helped me hook up. They troubleshooted. They gave me a tour of their massive renovation, making me want to stay longer to help them out. That is something I will do the next time I return. And, believe me, there WILL be a next time! I will plan it into my trip. Their children are not a whit behind them. The fruit does not fall far from the tree.
With Kind Thoughts, Carmen San Diego!
Very nice place to stay and relax. What a nice surprise to see their project to convert an old school house to a future B&B.
My husband and I spent a night at the Caldwells' home a week ago, and were warmly welcomed by Kevin and his family. He has done an enormous amount of work transforming this unused school into a home, and possibly in the future, a Bed and Breakfast. We got the tour and marveled at how the large spaces they use for their family still manage to feel cozy. It was a quiet, peaceful night, and we completely enjoyed our stay there. Good luck with your project, Kevin!
They were so welcoming and very gracious hosts. The site was perfect, they hooked up power for me and refused to take any money. They went out of their way to include me in the local events and even took me to a rodeo and invited me to stay an extra night. This was my first trip as a full timer and first time as a Boondockers Welcome, it was a great beginning for my journey.
Extraordinary nice host family. We got a shady spot, water and power plus a tour through the old schoolhouse. What a cool project they are tackling...worth the stay alone. Our daughter was delighted to play with the ducks and watch the friendly dogs. If we are allowed we will be back. Wish Kevin and family all the best for their project.
The family was very welcoming. We ended up staying two nights. Nearby town has museums worth a stop. Thank you so much for opening your home to us.
A quiet and peaceful spot! We spent two nights and felt very welcome by family. Lot’s of room to spread out. Family invited us to dinner, good fellowship time!
Thank you, look forward to our next visit!
These are the kindest people. They made me more than welcome. Opened their home to me for showers, laundry, etc. Let me use their wi-fi, and fill up my water tank. Let me have packages delivered to their address. The schoolhouse they are renovating is amazing. Such a lot of work! I enjoyed getting to know them and their children a bit. If you get a chance to visit them, I'd highly recommend it.
I had a lovely visit with this family; including a tour of their home. I am amazed at their vision for their old schoolhouse and gym. What an undertaking!! Lovely, peaceful spot to spend the night. Thank you for your hospitality. Wishing you all the best as you continue with your endeavors.

Caldwells were away for the dates we requested, but they allowed us to park on their property anyway. Directions were given and questions answered by messages via Boondockers Welcome. It worked very well. The location was very peaceful.
What a great shame we didn't get to meet our hosts.
Very nice experience. The owners son graciously showed us where we could set up. The owner gave us a tour of the family project to refurbish the historic building. Very impressive and ambitious undertaking. Thanks for a pleasant stay. Visit us in Florida on your trip next year.
We arrived mid afternoon b4 our hosts were home from work, but son Maverick came out to greet us and offer any assistance he could. We didnt need anything as we dry camped. Kevin arrived home later and was very gracious and gave us and the other BDW couple the grand tour of their restoration project so far 8 years in the making. What a wonderful man (and children) Unfirtunately did not meet the Mrs as she was working. Smooth level parking area on the south side of the gymnasium and 15 amp power is available if needed
Our brief stay was met with very welcoming hosts. We were offered everything you could possibly need. This Old School turned home is amazing! It was great to be given a tour of their home and shown how they are transforming it into a beautiful home centered around family. Come here and you will be happy you did drive the extra bit to get here. We were heading to Zion National Park and it worked perfectly. Worth it!
The Caldwell's were very accommodating. Nice quiet place. They invited me to dinner, I felt like part of the family.
The Caldwells were a delight. They invited me for dinner, which was delicious. I felt like part of the family gathered around the big table. Nice and quiet area. Thank you for your generosity in providing a safe place for travelers.
After my GPS misdirected me, Host's teen son graciously walked out to main st to direct & welcome me. Great spot - lots of space to park any size Rig. As I wanted to accept their offer of 15amp, I parked in front of the old Gym building and they brought out a long extension cord. They're across the street from a large Church so very quiet & peaceful place for the night.
Host welcomed me after returning from work and offered me a tour off their "Project". Amazing vision, labor of love, and will be a Great home & BnB once completed! Another great BW experience!
The Caldwells were fantastic, friendly and welcoming. The town is nice and the site was quiet and spacious. They hooked us up to their power. Thanks SO much!
Also, this was our first Boondockers Welcome.
It was our first boondock experience and it was totally awesome. We came there later than expected, but the really nice host was more than friendly waiting for us. In the morning he showed us his house, a former school, which was really impressive. We definitely could recommend a stay here!
