Quiet location with fields directly across the street in an unincorporated town with about 16 inhabitants. We are 32 miles from the Okoboji Great Lakes region of northwest Iowa. Spencer, IA is a quick 14 miles east on a nice blacktop. The home is about 120 ft from the blacktop on gravel. We have a gravel driveway with rock. You can be as private or engaged with us as you feel. No need for the obligatory gift. Your friendship and conversation is a gift in itself. NOTE: Our neighbors are bee keepers, so you will see honey bees from time to time. They only keep one hive in town to pollenate our gardens. I have never been stung in the 20 years we have resided here. I just want to let everyone know in case you are severely allergic. Suggested Local Attractions:Arnolds Park Amusement Park, Maritime Museum. and Iowa Great lakes (Okoboji), Worldest Greatest County Fair (Clay County), Vic's Corner Holiday Flea Markets, Yesterdays Memories Museum in Sanborn, IA. Abby Gardner Cabin, Arnolds Park, IA, Lost Island Nature Center/Palo Alto County Conservation, Prairie Heritage Center | O'Brien County Conservation, Parker Historical Museum and Clay County Heritage Center, Spencer, IA

Adventurous Country Dweller Details: My wife and I have a quiet location in an unincorporated town with about 16 inhabitants, 32 miles from the Okoboji Great Lakes region of northwest Iowa. Spencer, IA is a quick 14 miles east on a nice blacktop. The home is about 100 ft from the blacktop on gravel. We love the outdoors, boon-docking, and boating. We are also just as happy sitting by a fire listening to the wildlife. Deer, raccoons, and an occasional fox are often seen in our yard. We thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and hearing of their travels. So, your presence is our reward, and no gift is needed. Besides, we are purging so we can hit the road in a few years! Home Town: Moneta, IA Favorite Boondocking Locations: Beach camping in Texas. Padre Island, Magnolia Beach, Brazosport. Besides the amazing view and sounds, it’s free!! Casinos are also wonderful because of the 24 hour security. Skills or Expertise to Share: I am a fabricator and very mechanically inclined with a multitude of tools including air driven, a welder, and hardware on hand. My wife says I am a John of all trades. We have gutted and remdelled our home, and I cannot resist taking anything apart and making it function better.

Such a wonderful host! We arrived later than expected and John was so gracious, so friendly and made us feel so welcome at his place. Communication was excellent and prompt whenever contact was made with him. He was so helpful & easy going. He encouraged us to plug in and use the electrical outlet on his shed, and even offered us water. He has the gift of hospitality, going above and beyond! Thank you John for a wonderful experience! ♥️

We stayed one night with complete solitude. We were passing thru and used this stop for a little geocaching on our way west. Cheryl was a gracious host and we enjoyed chatting with her and her friendly neighbor. We would come again when passing this way.

Wow!!! What a delightful stay. The country is beautiful. The water supply was terrific. Great tasting water. Our hosts were involved with family duties until Monday morning. We had a most delightful visit with them on Monday. Can’t wait to camp with them again.
