This was our first time boon-docking and our experience couldn’t have been better. Host called and gave us recommendations for activities In the area and made us feel right at home. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.
I was delayed because I broke down, so I ended up arriving late. They were so accommodating and welcoming to me :-)
Wonderful host! I spent 3 nights while enjoying the Rt 66 sights in Springfield. Very friendly, easy going, nice level spot with great sunrises & sunsets. If they'll have me back, I'll visit with them again.
This location. Was very easy to get to off the high way. The site was level and wide to easily accommodate our 32 foot fifth wheel and truck. We appreciated the light being on so we could see it in the dark. Would utilize again if our future travels has us out this way. We asked for social distancing due to COVID so did not interact with host other than through this site. He responded quickly to all of my inquiries. Thank you for accepting our stay.
We were lucky to be able to stop back by this year on our way south. We only were able to stay one night previously so we enjoyed coming back through and staying a bit longer to check out more of Springfield and the lovely hosts. The spot is large with ample room to maneuver around and it's very level. The hosts' dog and cat are two of the best animals, every day we were greeted and got to watch them play and wrestle outside our door. It was too cute. The spot is just about 10 minutes outside of the city but you feel like you are surrounded by farmland. Great spot and we highly recommend it!
We only stayed one night, but we really enjoyed our stay. Our host was super friendly and very accommodating. The kids loved meeting Rusty & Flash. The property was very quiet and the site was spacious. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset & full moon. Highly recommend seeing the Bass Pro Shop "mother" store while in the area.
JMilligan44 was a very welcoming host. He was wonderful to talk to, he had so many interesting stories to tell us. He also has a really cute cat and dog. He gave us some good tips about Springfield as well. Thanks to him, our stay in Springfield was so much fun!
Friendly hosts who had lots of great stories, advice and a sweet pup that our kids loved! They have a nice level gravel site with electric ($5) and was located not too far from downtown for things to do and see. 10/10 would recommend. :)
We accidentally requested the wrong weekend, we had just looked at the calendar wrong! Jim was so kind to let us stay anyway! He made us feel so welcome and allowed us to use his large backyard to walk our dog. We parked in his large, level driveway and were very comfortable.
We really enjoyed our stay and used our time here to explore Bass Pro Shops.
We are so thankful for his hospitality!
Milligan's Retreat is the ideal boondocking site: easy access off the freeway, 30 amp, level driveway and peaceful. JMilligan44 is the ideal host: kind, gracious and interesting. This is our second time staying and we plan to return when we pass this way again.
Great hosts. Very welcoming with lots of good local info. Easy in and out for our 40 foot fifth wheel. Host even offered 30 or 50 amp hookups for a small fee! Large open area for the dogs to play. Quiet neighborhood and great location to visit Springfield. Cars on the road in front of the house do travel very fast so watch your dogs and/or children.
We had a real nice stay at Milligan's Retreat. Only a couple miles away from freeway. Was another couple there and was no problems with each of us having dogs. Would highly recommend this location.
What a wonderful stay we had. The couple was so sweet and welcoming, and the location was quiet and rural, yet easily accessible from the highway. Best stay ever.
Perfect stay for my first time as a guest! Location was awesome and hosts were very friendly. Definitely will stay again if headed that way!
We were so relieved to have our first Boondockers stay be as positive as this one. These kind people had a small young dog that got along with ours, had a fire pit with chairs they generously supplied with firewood, and space for our kiddo to run around and explore. They were so thoughtful. We are currently in a Camping World up the street and so grateful they offered us to stay tonight if need be.
Cheers to these wonderful folks.
Thank you thank you!
Nice quiet spot. Easy in and out for our 43 foot toy hauler. The host was very friendly and told us about the nearby Bass Pro store. A must see! 500,000 square feet of everything outdoors!
We had a great time staying with this host.
It was easy to find and easy to park and they were great people to chat with.
We will definitely stop by again when we're in the area.
Wonderful hosts, exceptional spot!
The hosts are two of the nicest people, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay & will request another stay next time we’re in the area.
The location is peaceful & very relaxing, rural but near enough to town for supplies & sightseeing.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful property with us :)
Our visit with our host couple was outstanding - great communication from the first contact, beautiful and relaxing spot to park, fun conversation. Everything about our stay was wonderful. Rusty, their cutie pie dog, was a joy to have come around!
We loved our stay and will return again!
Thank y'all for being superb hosts!
Great spot close to town, level and easy to pull in. We loved meeting a chatting with the host. Definitely recommend!
Wonderful couple with lots of Fulltime RV experience and knowledge. Great conversations and a blessed stay.
Hope to enjoy their company again in the future.
Our hosts were gracious and warm. Their property is idyllic and quiet. It was easy to park our 40-ft 5th wheel in the large driveway. If foreign guest were to stay, our hosts will be great Ambassadors of our country.
They hosted me for 3 nights when I could not find any weekend spots on Route 66. Spent time talking with Jerry and his neighbor and watching them mow grass! Very pleasant
Wandered through Springfield for a day, including the town square where Wild Bill Hickok and Davis Tutt had the first quick-draw shootout in the US. Wild Bill won.
If I am back that way again I will arrange a stay.
Jim is a great host. He met us when we pulled up, helped us back in a perfectly level double driveway and has a 30 amp plug right there. We had a very pleasant conversation for quite a while and we played with his super friendly Snoodle pup. He has had quite a life and is very interesting to listen to. It as raining off and on and we got settled in for the night. This a great place to spend the night and we will return in the future
We stayed here after a 400 mile day 1 of a 10 day adventure on route 66. The site is perfectly level, quiet, easy to access, and has 30Amp clean power. We rested very well and our dogs loved the ability to stretch their legs and sniff cows. We'll stay again soon! Thank you so much!
Our hosts were welcoming, kind and gracious as always. We have family in the area, but they don't have room for our rig, so we plan to return to JMilligan44 again in the future!
We enjoyed our hosts and would have liked to learn more about their life. We had a good nights' sleep and were on our way the next day. If ever this way again, we certainly would try to stay with these fine folks.
While we were only staying one night, we had a great stay at Milligan’s place. We will definitely be back as there’s so much to see in the area. Getting into the space is very easy. We enjoyed chatting with our hosts and watching their pets play in the backyard. Lovely stay, we highly recommend.
This was such a wonderful place to park. It is out in the country, but not too far out of town. Thank you for having us! It was so nice to stop and rest for a couple of days.
A quick trip this time, a little late getting in and left early the next morning, but our host was very understanding and accommodating. A quiet and restful setting - hopefully we'll be able to spend a bit more time there on the return trip!
Quick overnight stay. Host comminicated clear directions via app. Did not see host on site, no need, instructions were crystal clear. Level, gravel drive, quiet rural setting. Would stay here again.
We enjoyed our time (short as it was) at Milligan’s Retreat. It was easily accessible from major highways, yet had a country ambiance. Our hosts were gracious and personable, and had an interesting story to tell. I would definitely stay again if in the area!
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location. It was peaceful and quiet and just what we needed after a long day of traveling. The hosts were wonderful and so accommodating. We would definitely come back if we are in the area again!
This place was really easy to get to with our 40ft motorcoach. Nice level gravel driveway. You really feel you are out in the country. The hosts are so nice. We enjoyed visiting with them. We are staying there again on our way back through.
The hosts are so friendly and have so many interesting stories to share! Our kids loved their pup and wanted to bring him with us when we left. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!
This is a peaceful country setting, hosted by a very sweet and welcoming couple. We enjoyed walks along the paved county road (very little traffic) and watching the small herd of nanny and baby goats in the nearby neighbors' pasture. There were also a mother and father killdeer watching over their nest with 2 eggs in the field next to us. We highly recommend staying with these kind folks.
We had a great time visiting with JMilligan44!! Great couple with lots of RV experience and wisdom! We already have plans to stay at Milligan's Retreat again the next time we travel through the area. Highly recommend!
I am a healthcare worker and currently on a cross country sprint from one assignment to the next, it was truly such a blessing to have this familiar spot to rest in while in Springfield. The space is large, level and so quiet...got a great night's sleep here. Dearly appreciate the 30 Amp hookup and the offer for fresh water. Due to coronavirus concerns we didn't get to socialize much this trip but luckily we had gotten to hear a bit about their awesome circus journeys on our first pass through in November. Thank you so much for your kind hospitality!
Huge thanks for a lovely welcome and a safe night's stay. Would love to have chatted more, but not easy with all the social distancing!
Will hope to visit again one day.
Highly recommended if you need somewhere in all this nonsense, or any time!
Perfect hosts for the circumstances (Coronavirus, so social isolation); rather than communicate in person, we did it by text. When the Missouri State Parks suddenly closed down, JMilligan44's location and immediately accessible was just right for me to set up quickly in the evening and to leave first thing in the morning on my way home to New York . My traveling companion (puppy) was sure he was in Heaven when he saw the big green grass mowed yard and then realized he was allowed to run all over it, and we both enjoyed listening to the early spring peepers (frogs) when it grew dark and to the birds' magnificent chorus at dawn.
Thanks for making our very first Boondockers experience wonderful. Loved the quiet country setting north of Springfield, MO. Just bought the 34' Montana 3400RL and parking it was a piece of cake due to the wide driveway. The water from their well was perfect and tasteless as it should be. Will be back and they score a perfect 10 out of 10 with us. Grateful to meet these folks. Salute!!
I stayed two nights at this location, easy electric hookup, wide, level driveway. There was plenty of room to safely exercise my dog. The host was warm and welcoming and gave me tips on where to go the following day. The city of Springfield is fairly close by and well worth a visit!
First time Boondocking! Great experience and wonderful hosts!
We enjoyed meeting the hosts and hearing about their adventures! Wonderful couple with a big heart! Great place to stay, a lot of room and it was so quiet! Best night's sleep in months!
This was our first time using Boondockers Welcome and our stay at here was a delight. Easy access, easy set-up, great communication -- what more can we say? We hope to visit again! Thanks
Milligan’s Retreat was a wonderful stop, easy to get to and wide/flat drive when we arrived. Very grateful for the fresh water fill-up and 30 Amp electric. Pretty, quiet country surroundings made for excellent sleeping. Enjoyed chatting with these folks about their circus days, how cool! Thanks for your warm hospitality.
What a great way to share your circus retirement adventure with us when we visited you in your cosy house. Thanks for sharing your experiences and making us feel at home.
Not going too fare as the weather is worse than in Canada☺
Regula and Walter
A nice and warm welcoming at a beautiful clean spot.
Thanks so much for your kind hospitality and all the tips about the area to visit.
Since the weather is so awful, we just do what you recommend:
RELAX and ENJOY
These hosts were over and above wonderful. Our stay here was wonderful. We enjoyed the peaceful property and good conversation as well as what the town of Springfield had to offer. As a mom of four young kids I absolutely recomend staying here.
Wish we could have stayed and visited more with these warm and interesting folks. They care about their guests and extend themselves to make sure guests find the location and have what they need.
Another great Boondockers Welcome experience!
Warm welcoming ... we feel like visiting family 😊
Jerry was very friendly and give us a lot of information about what to see in the area... really appreciated!
Quiet, secure and really nice place. thanks a lot !
Gracious hosts with an easy in/easy out of their property. Our request to stay two nights was not an issue for which we were grateful.
We spent time with our hosts talking about a variety of things including things to see and do in their area.
We’ll probably stop again on our return east in Spring to do the suggested activities.
Perfect almost halfway stop for us and look forward to visiting again.
We had a great experience at the Milligan’s! We weren’t there long but it was easy to find and everything was exactly as said.
Very easy to find and easy access to Springfield, MO. Although J and P were not home they accepted our request, and even provided power. We will stop by again when our travels bring us this way again. Hopefully we will get to meet J and P next time.
thanks to the host for helping us with a quick overnight. was feeling under the weather (aka sick) but they helped with letting us hook up and relax.
