Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostPets allowed if cleaned up after. I have a 3000' workshop here, when I'm around the workshop and my services can be utilized, I have both 30 Amp and 50 Amp connection. 20 security cameras monitoring the property as well as two alarm companies monitoring the Workshop. 1/2 acre lot.
If hooked up to electric please make a $10 contribution to cover costs, if we aren't here just drop it in the mailbox. Water and sewer no charge.
If longer stays are needed for repairs or some other reason we can talk about it.
Pets must be cleaned up after, and not be loud! Clean up after yourself, please report and pay for any damages you may cause. Also report anything not working as I may not be here when you are, and I want it everything working. Have fun and be helpful to anyone else staying on the property.
Additionally if you have, or know of any theft or experience any sort of other difficulty report right away as I can play back the camera footage as needed. Video is stored both onsite and live to the Internet, so keep your clothes on when outside your RV (or not, your choice).
Paved city street, 400 feet from Highway TX 97.
Street, next to vehicle, or anywhere there is room.
Feel free to say even when we are not here. The entire property is monitored with many cameras, for everyone's security. 30 and 50 Amp connections are on the North Side of the Workshop, sewer hookup is next to the tree on the North side of the workshop, there is another dump access in the alley on the South side of the Workshop. Water hookups are at a manifold on the North/West side of the workshop.
The Longhorn Museum about 1/4 mile from our site is interesting and free. But not a lot to see in Pleasanton, TX actually, but if needing a place to visit relatives or some of the festivals in the area, like the Poteet Strawberry Festival, or the Pleasanton, Turn N Burn State Championship BBQ Cook-Off.
Or even just a night or two rest in route to the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico or a trip into Mexico. And a place to possibly work on your RV. Many guests stay a few days and make day trips to San Antonio.
Many great things to see and do in the San Antonio area. Pleasanton also has a full size H.E.B. grocery and a Super Walmart, and a few places to fill Propane.
Highlights for SAT are Riverwalk, Old Pearl Brewery (since 2001 converted into a culinary and cultural destination), Missions National Historical Park (best seen via the paved bicycle path between all 5 missions one of which is of course THE ALAMO). Another favorite of ours is the McNay Art Museum. Also if kiddos are going to be tagging along the Duseum is great. Oh and I can recommend a meal from the Tower of the Americas revolving restaurant mostly for the view. The last time we were there 2019 June the food was even quite good. Or even better the historic Grist Mill in New Braunfels.
Here are a couple of videos that show more things to do in SA:
50 things to See and Do in San Antonio https://youtu.be/83dOAaXdAro
and: Top Things to Do in San Antonio (Hidden Gems) https://youtu.be/1gkUdsacJ3U
And for those with a hiking inclination some of our favorites are Gov't Canyon Park (real dinosaur foot prints in the river, and they allow mountain bikes), Enchanted Rock Area. And if you want to do a little backpacking for a night or two Lost Maples Park (that's a bit further but they also have a campground with RV hookups) and is especially beautiful with Spring wildflowers and Fall leaf color change.
Also since I get asked a lot, you can walk your pets in the neighborhood but don't leave them out all night as many cats, dogs, fox, coyote, and deer frequent the property. Also the Pleasanton City park is a great place to even let pets off the leash as long as they aren't the type that will attack the ducks and geese.
If you are heading West from our place you may want to make a plan to go by Camp Verde General Store and Restaurant on your way, and that could be part of a trip to Lost Maples Park. Great food and a nice place to take a little walk by the river and very scenic drive. http://campverdegeneralstore.com/main/restaurant.php open I think everyday from 08:00 to 17:00 best to make a reservation. Many things in the old general store too. We probably go once a month when we're in Texas.
All the best,
Gerald & AiXia
Very helpful host very nice stay thank you so much we appreciate it very much
Had a very nice secure stay. Host has had an active and full life and enjoys sharing. We enjoyed our time and would definitely stay again.
On our way through and we stayed a couple of nights. Slept great and enjoyed an opportunity to get a couple of smaller projects and organization taken care of. The host was very friendly and enjoyed our conversation about camping!
Great Host. The location is convenient to get in and out of with your rig. They have water, electric and access point to dump, which is really great.
This is a rural area so you will have to be okay with the sounds of chickens and dogs from the neighbors.
The host is an awesome person and has a LOT of stories to share. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. We met his family and had Tea together. He is a DIY hero..! He has the skill and tools to build anything from scratch. We had a great time there and will definitely revisit if possible.
We were very pleased with Acme 71. They were very welcoming and showed us everything we needed to know. You would’ve thought that we knew them for years. We are very pleased and will return again in the future
My sons and I had a wonderful stay here. I was also able to get some repairs done on the RV. As soon as the part came in he had it on the same day. He is a wealth of knowledge about so many subjects. (Rvs, motorcross, bicycles, just to make a few) I loved listening and watching as he showed me the ways that he created things and plans that he had. If only I had a tiny bit of those skills.
We also got to meet his family who were very sweet .
There are chickens next door including a couple of very large beautiful red rooster's. Their names are tweedle Dee and tweedle dum. We didn't mind hearing them Crow in the morning because they were so beautiful to look at.
We enjoyed a trip to the longhorn museum (free). Only one longhorn there, but lots of windmills and some train items including an old caboose that you can still climb up and wave out the upper windows.
I highly recommend the stop if you're in the area.
Lots of conversation (travel/ inventions/ Rv) a rum chatta and some work done. G will hook you up for $60/ hr he can fix and do most anything. He has a large shop and tools to fix repair or install most Rv issues. You will need to bring whatever parts and supplies to facilitate.
30 miles to San Antonio
Local Walmart Heb grocery and auto parts store.
Great host. Easy to talk to and gives great suggestions of things to do in the area. We took his suggestion to bike between the missions and enjoyed it very much. It's a bit crowded going into the Alamo without dedicated bike lanes however.
We were so impressed with this man's mechanical talents. He can fix or build anything! He was friendly, and helped us with our fifth wheel issues.
We're so glad he was able to host us on short notice after our other plans didn't work out. We had a great time telling him about our travels and hearing about his many interesting projects. Thank you!
We stayed at Fullers Fun on the Flatlands for several nights and enjoyed our stay. It was awesome having 50amps and water as well as a place to dump our tanks. Along with meeting Acme71 and his family it was great talking to him about all his adventures and many projects. While the location was a bit unusual, we felt completely safe in the neighborhood with the friendly neighbors and dogs. There are a ton of security cameras and lights as well as regular police patrols in the area.
As far as shopping and fuel there are a couple of big box stores and the Tractor Supply carries propane to refill tanks (call to check availability). Pleasanton is a short 30 mile drive to San Antonio and we went in to check out the River Walk and Padre Park. Both accessible from bike trails along the river. We would highly recommend Fullers if you need a stopover on the way to Big Bend or any other major destination.
This was one of our best BW welcome experiences to date! The host and his family were very welcoming, great location, easy to park our big rig and an extra bonus with the hookups! He offered us plenty of suggestions for sightseeing, future camping and even showed us how he modified his van for van life! Thank you so much for helping us out during the epic Texas freeze of 21!
Very nice host. We enjoyed talking about RV modifications, folding e-bikes, engineering, manufacturing, and more... Acme71 was quite an amazing host, and we hope to stay here again.
Another perfect place to stay in Texas! Very friendly and helpful people and even got some stuff done on my RV. Enjoyed the hosts company very much! Will definitely go back when I can.
Was a great place to stop and relax for a couple of days. Our host was very friendly and accommodating. He's a very interesting guy with a lot of good ideas and advice. Enjoyed our stay. Would stay there again.
We stayed two nights and could not have been treated better. The host is very knowledgeable about RV'S and we plan on going back to have some repairs done on our way back home. It's also a lot of fun to see his shop and hear about all the things he is up to. Hope to return soon.
We enjoyed the Fuller family with their many stories of China, camping and moto-cross competitions. Gerald is good at and willing to help with any RV issues you may have. San Antonio is a short drive, but don't overlook Pleasanton. Nice small town with friendly folks We hope to come back.
Easy to locate and park our 38' mh. We had read comments about the sand burs, couldn't imagine them being as bad as they were. We were bringing them in side on our tennis shoes! We have two small dogs so it was very difficult to take them out. Would not recommend this for travelers with dogs, but other than that, it is close enough to San Antonio for short trips into the city. Friendly hosts that loves to share stories.
Smartest mechanic I've ever met. Great place to take a load off and relax for a while.
acme71 and his wife are friendly and we hired him to fix many things on our scamp to great success. he was helpful with water, power, and dumping. this is a great stop for getting things done!
Easy in and out in parking by their shop. Appreciated having option to plug into electric. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting our hosts - a lovely family.
Location looked sketchy at first but it was a good stop! It was easy to pull through and the ground was level. It was quiet and safe. Host was very friendly and knowledgeable. If we ever need help fixing something we will be back there! Be cautious if you have dogs. The sand burs are bad. Don’t expect to have pets outside a whole lot. Overall awesome stay and we will be back :)
Perfect place just outside San Antonio! Very welcoming and really informative about things to do in the area! I really enjoyed talking shop about solar, motorcycles and RVing!
Would definitely stay again!
We had all the amenities we needed to be comfortable. Host was nice enough to help us troubleshoot some problems with our fridge. About 35 minutes from San Antonio which was fun to explore. Watch out for spurs in the yard, there was a park about a mile away that was helpful for taking our dog for walks.
Don't stop here if you are in a rush! Your host is a fascinating guy and can fix anything on your RV, and therefore you will want to stay a while. We were not sure about this place based on 1st impressions of the area, but we had a quiet, peaceful night. We had a few things fixed on the ole RV & went merrily on our way to San Antonio the next morning. Wish we found this stop earlier in our trip when we were having major issues!
It was a very good experience staying here. The hoast is an great engineer having some very cool stuff! He repaired a loose panel on the Monaco from running on the railroad tracks called interstate 10.
Him and his wife are wonderful people and we will stay again when in the area.
The landlord is a very good person, he has a special talent for repairing RVs. He is a motorcycle racer and develops bicycles by himself. I admire it very much, it is a pleasure to get along with him, I will come back again, thank you.
Friendly, helpful hosts. Interesting conversations. Highly recommend.
Owner is amazing at RV repair and so willing to help out. His 3000' shop is amazing to see. Full hook up on site and this is a lovely family story spend time with. Highly recommend this site for one night or even more. Easy to get into San antonio to see sights and then come back here to see deer grazing, and have an evening campfire (on his portable propane campfire in a can) with the family.
Nice two day stay so we could run down to Laredo for the day. Easy to find. Easy to park (back in our 5th). Did not meet hosts but Online communication Was great.
Thanks for the spot.
This was the perfect home base to explore the San Antonio area. We didn't get a chance to meet the host, as they were out of the country during our stay, but he was sure to check in to make sure we were settled in. Highly recommend!
My second visit and although the owner isn’t on site, he’s always very attentive to our needs!
This worked out well for us. We wanted to see San Antonio and the area south to Corpus Christi. We were able to do all that. Pleasanton had all we needed and our host was very communicative! We are pleased with our first Boondockers Welcome experience!
This is a great site for visiting the San Antonio area or just passing through to somewhere else. Not in a scenic spot, but close to many major highways. The hosts were in China when we arrived, but gave us a lot of information by e-mail. Just beware of the "stickers", not a good place for children or pets.
Anyone with a pet should not stay here: the yard is full of sand spurs. They stuck in my dog's paws and the soles of my shoes.
Be sure to bring power adapters and a long hose.
Even though we did not meet in person, our host was very welcoming and kept us informed of who our neighbors were.
We had a very quiet night.
Nice spot to be able to commute into downtown San Antonio - maybe 45 minutes? The spot closest to the tree (and tank dump spot) didn’t seem super level to me so we parked further from it, and moved closer to dump it when we needed to (which may not have worked out if others were parked there when we needed to dump).
The host was very responsive and on top of watching out for us to arrive. 10/10 would come again.
Our host was super with communication arrangements for our arrival! Perfect location just south it San Antonio while traveling to Weslaco. A quiet nights rest and on the road again!
Thanks so much.
This was just a quick overnight on our way to the Rio Grande Valley. Acme71 keeps a close eye on things, even when he’s in China! We felt safe and secure and enjoyed a quiet night.
The location is easy to find and exactly how it was described, no surprises! The host checked in with us regularly and gave us great ideas for the things to do and places to eat.
Acme71 has extensive knowledge on RV's and is willing to share. I wish we had a chance to meet in person, they were gone while we were there... Maybe next time!
Thanks again for your extended hospitality!
This is the second time we’ve stayed here. Very safe and quiet. The host provides a lot of great info about places to see in the area.
Thanks Acme71
Just over night stay. One other motorhome here. Used the 30 amp.....Had water and dump didn't need for one night. Left RV connected, took our bikes out and rode them for dinner. Several places within a mile......Would differently stop again. Host was out of town...😁 Sorry we missed them
Acme71 provided a great little place for us to stay when we were in the San Antonio area. the property is really pretty level, has electric hookups, and even a place to dump your sewer. All in all, pretty amazing, and the town of Pleasanton was a nice little place too.
Acme71 was really communicative even though he was out of town when we visited. We hope that someday we can return the favor when they are traveling around the country again.
Thank you! the site was just as described. Easy in and out. We stayed 3 nights and found it convenient to San Antonio. We enjoyed biking the river trail from San Jose Mission to downtown. Had lunch and walked the riverwalk and went to The Alamo. For those with Dogs, we found the Pleasanton Park( about 1 mile away) to be a great place to walk our very active dog, we were able to let him run safely without a leash just outside the park. There is a walkway under a underpass that is to an open Pecan orchard, easy to walk on and along the Atascosa River. We did not get to meet our host as they were traveling as well. We hope to meet them on another pass through.
We enjoyed a great 3 night stay to check out San Antonio. Easy drive into town to see the Alamo, Missions, and River Walk.
Owner was very responsive with messages. Suggested LongHorn museum in town which was good for the free admission (kids liked the coloring and hands-on area). BW location about 30 minutes from River Walk/The Alamo on the interstate in a small town. There is a Walmart and HEB for groceries. Could not find propane as most places were shut down by regulator and the 2 places that were not shut down were out of order. If you have kids or dogs be prepared for the Texas grass with sand spurs (pokeys that stick into anything soft). We stayed for 5 nights, and had other rigs with us for 4 nights. Was a little tight w/ 3 large 5th wheels, but we made it work (glad to be the first to park). There is some street noise, but nothing that bothered us. There's a business that has an outdoor PA beep/chime that we heard numerous times, but not during the night. Overall good place to stay and explore surrounding areas.
Exactly as advertised and exactly what we needed. Thanks so much, hope to see you down the road.
Highly recommend, had a very pleasant two day stay, very short drive to San Antonio, would definitely stay again if in the area again, thanks again Bob and sue
Didn’t see anyone while spending the night. Was easy to find, appreciate the stay.
We stayed 4 nights, it is centrally located, quiet and level boondocking site, has 30 amp and 50 amp outlets, water connections even has a dump station. Only about 30 miles from San Antonio so relatively easy access to Alamo, the River Walk, etc. Host was in China but his grand daughter lives right there. Thank you for letting us boondock would definitely stay again.
Convenient stop and easy to get to. Our hosts were traveling so unfortunately we didn't get to meet. We really appreciate a quiet safe night of sleep.
We were able to hookup to water, sewer, and electricity while we spent a day at the Alamo and another at the San Antonio river walk. Both were so worthwhile and impressive. One night we went out for Mexican which was tasty and authentic. We made the right choice to stop and stay at Acme71. Thank you to our host. P.S. safe location.
We enjoyed our stay in this quiet community. It suited our visit to San Antonio very well - to the Riverwalk and also a nice bicycle ride on the Mission Trail. Although we didnt get to meet our hosts during this stay, we had excellent email communications with them. Would definitely recommend them!
We were unable to meet our hosts since they were traveling. At one point we shared the space with two other rigs. We did not need the electric, but did add some water to our tanks and dumped at the end of our stay. The location was easy to find and the trip into San Antonio was easy. Safe location.
Quiet place to stay outside of San Antonio. Pleasanton TX has all the amenities you will need and is a great place to stay while visiting San Antonio or Corpus Christi. Did not meet our host as they were out of the country, however we did keep in contact and our host gave us great information about things to do and see in San Antonio. One traveler was there when we showed up and another arrived right after us. There was plenty of room for all of us.
A big thanks to the host for their hospitality! The location was perfect for exploring San Antonio. As a retired business owner who fabricated many unique tools and jigs for my own purposes, I was hoping to get a chance to chat with the host, but he was out of town. I hope to one day get a chance to meet him either the next time we're in the area, or perhaps we'll see him on the road. Again, thanks!
We enjoyed our stay and we were only about 30 minutes from San Antonio which was so awesome. We felt safe with the security and were able to fill our water tanks. Thanks for having us!
Very nice communicating with owner. He does keep an eye on things! Nice quiet night. 👌👌👌
Great place to stop.
Hope to meet the host next time.
Enjoyed info he provided about boonedocking.
We stayed there to visit San Antonio and we felt comfortable leaving our 5th wheel unattended.Although our host was in China with his 20 camera's on the property is was as it he was there. We received regular communication with him via the internet.
Very convenient to San Antonio. Even though the owner was in China he stayed in contact with us. There are several cameras watching the property. We felt safe and secure. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.
We stayed here for three nights. Host was travelling, so sorry we missed him! We were joined one night by another boondocker's couple and that was nice. A nice drive into San Antonio and enjoyed our time there. Appreciated the security system that's in place. Quiet evenings were really appreciated. Thank you for a good stay!
Good location just south of San Antonio.
Enjoyed staying here again, despit the fact that nobody else here
Host wasn't here, but we enjoyed our stay. It was very quiet. Nice big level yard to park in. Big Rig friendly. We had 50amp power. But didn't need to use it that much as the weather was mild. The field across the street had a herd of about 20 deer 3 of the nights we were here. We felt secure here. We originally asked for 5 nights but had to change to 6 nights. The host was very accommodating and said no problem. He even offered more nights if we wanted. We couldn't stay any longer due to obligations elsewhere. Host was very good at communicating via email. He emailed back and forth almost every day. He even suggested places to see. We will stay here again next time we visit San Antonio. It is 30 miles outside the city, but the roads are fast and easy. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
Thank you, we had a peaceful time and enjoyed meeting another boondocking couple who were very friendly and welcoming. Much appreciated!
I parked here only one night and, unfortunately, the host was overseas. I would have liked to hear his stories! But he emailed lots of tips for the area and even suggestions for my wonky furnace.
Just needed an overnight stay and this worked out perfect. Host is generous enough to offer electric option. We took advantage of it and left a donation😀
We went to my Husband's ships reunion in San Antonio and parked our RV at his place while we stayed in a hotel with all his Navy buddies. We were able to relax and enjoy the wonderful group of Veterns and not be concerned about the safety of our RV. Thank you very much. Brook side
Location was great local there where plenty of thing and not to far from San Antonio.
We had a great time here, and our host was so helpful! He's a great guy, many interesting tales to tell, and he also got our generator working for us, so we are very glad we stayed here! Hope we pass by again so we can do and see more in the area!
The security system there definitely made me feel safe. He helped me with a loose battery connection, sold me on the Hot Logic for cooking hot food while you travel (ask) and spent time with us guests in the evening around the propane fire ring. He told us about the local attractions. I went to the Longhorn museum, really a must see!
This host location is very handy to San Antonio, and also Gaudalaupe State Park. Very friendly and helpful host, in a lovely quiet area.
Very talented interesting host. He helped us with what to see in the area. Location is very good. Thank you. Would definitely stay again.
Gerald was so kind to allow us to start our stay early. Very kind host. Excellent 1st day. Looking forward to staying 3 more days. Really talented host. Love hearing stories about his ventures.
Our host was so very interesting with a wealth of information and stories. Located in a quiet area close to all the necessities.
Our first night was spent with 2 other Boondockers around a fire with food, drinks and good conversation.
We enjoyed watching videos and listening to his stories of inventions, of the numerous motocross adventures, bicycles he has built, recreational vehicles / shipping containers he has designed and about his family here and in China.
Cats have 9 lives and G has more than that !! He is a man of adventure and speed 🏁
It was awesome meeting you and we would love to visit again if we are in the area 😎
Our stay with was great! He helped us back into our site as well as two other rv’s. He was very kind and hospitality was amazing. Brought out a gas fire ring where all guests and host spent several hours visiting. Felt very safe. Hope to be back! Thank you for a great stay!!!
Missed staying here last fall, but thoroughly enjoyed his company and fireside chat
Even though we cut our visit short (we decided to explore further out) our stay was a good one. Host is very knowledgeable on pretty much everything! Thank you for the stay and good luck on that motorhome rebuild.
We truly enjoyed our stay in Pleasanton. Our host was an amazing guy and was a wealth of information and interesting stories. Nice quiet area to stay with plenty of place to walk our dogs in the neighborhood or at a nearby park.
As a bonus, if you need any work done on your rig you can have it done there.
We left as friends and look forward to stopping by again the next time we’re around San Antonio.
Great exchange of ideas and appreciate getting his old roof vent cover.
My husband and I had a great and easy going stay at Gerald’s! We enjoyed chatting with him and hearing about the area and his stories.
We enjoyed our short stay at Fun on the Flatlands! The host is super friendly and knows about a wide variety of things. He helped me jack up the trailer when it tried to roll and fell off the front block. He also told me about some wonderful products that are out there for nomadic travelers. If you stay here, be sure to ask questions! Knowledge is always good!
Very pleasant stay extended another night for weather reasons. Enjoyed visiting with the host great stories. We would stay again if in the area. Thank you Boondockers Welcome.com.
Our host was very welcoming and we had a good night's sleep. A little surprising since we were close to a highway. Maybe will stay longer than one night another time.
...another super stay with this host. Unfortunately, circumstances prevailed otherwise and it will have to happen down the road. Thanks, Acme71, for the opportunity to make use of a great layover spot.
Very safe and comfortable stop. Host was out of town but still kept in contact to make sure we were all hooked up and everything. Hope to stop by again when he is there to meet him!
We had a nice stay and enjoyed talking with Gerald. He was a great host and has a nice location for visiting San Antonio.
The location was great for checking out San Antonio area. Quiet and safe feel with easy access from the interstate. Almost level site on grass/dirt lot. In a neighborhood and mixed industrial area. Other close by parts of town offer shopping, restraunts, laundrymatt, car wash and others travelers needs. Host helpful and interesting stories about travels and experiences with RV life. Nice 2 nite stop for us, longer stays accommodated also. We enjoyed the stay.
Gerald is a very interesting individual. Although he is a very generous and gracious host, his most insightful quality is his engineering genius. We enjoyed listening for a couple of hours to his descriptions of inventions he has created and sold, of his numerous motocross championships he has won, and the bicycles he has built for racing and for recreation. He is a mechanical engineering marvel and you will certainly enjoy learning about his exploits.
Host is a world traveler, speaks more than 2 languages (one Chinese), inventor and true jack of all trades, including holder of the world speed record for an RV (I kid you not! lol). 30 minutes south of Austin.
Thanks G, it was great fun meeting you......
We appreciated our time staying here. He was very helpful in suggestions for a repair on our trailer and completed it for us. His knowledge of world affairs is amazing as he has travelled the world. A wonderful host.
The host was very kind and welcoming. We shared ideas, conversation, and he was extremely helpful. His property is safe and easily accessible from the highway. He kindly offered electric, water, and he even has a place for dumping. We would gladly stay here again.
Easy to find, quiet, and very safe. Thanks to the host for an easy stay!!!
...to tuck your head down for a night or two with water and electric available and a quiet neighborhood. Although our host was on the road elsewhere, we did converse via email and he made us perfectly welcome. We were greeted by the two little boys from next door who were obviously the security guards and friends of our host. We would stay again.
Friendly and Excellent host. A nice quiet spot that we were able to enjoy for a couple of evenings. He even helped me check out the front end of my truck as I was concerned about some unusual heat and smell coming from the front tires. If I find myself in the area again, I will make sure to reach out again to stay here and to see how his GMC motorhome "build" is going.
Friendly, welcoming and helpful. Easy in and out. Quiet. We stayed in 40' fifthwheel.
I didn’t get a chance to meet my host, but was allowed to use site and facilities. All went very well! Thanks!
Great, quiet place to spend the night after a long day of driving. Our host even welded the cracks on our tow dolly.
Thanks for everything!
