This is just in my level yard over looking a creek and waterfall. Close in but feels like you are in the middle of no where. Close to I81 and lots of things to see and do in Roanoke
No real rules so to speak, just please use common sense...LOL...
Grass road at an incline that looks worse than it is. A buddy of mine pulled a 39 ft. 5th wheel in last year and had no problem. I would be available to direct you in. Just give me a couple hours notice.
Plenty of room for parking tow vehicles, anywhere in the yard
Our stay at Peaceful Waterfall was excellent. Our host met us upon our arrival and essentially gave us his backyard to set up as we wished. He was extremely friendly & offered to act as our shuttle for a short canoe on the stream that borders his property. Speaking of the stream...what a beautiful place. As soon as we got settled in, we took our chairs and books down by the waters edge and spent most of the rest of the day reading & enjoying the peacefulness. We even watched a river otter swim up and back down the stream, what a treat. That said, there was a little bit of road noise but thats to be expected when you live in close proximity to town. Besides he offers his yard up for free use, if you want complete seclusion don’t pick a Boondocker host so close to town. We really enjoyed our time exploring the local attractions and our short time visiting with our host. With the Blue Ridge Parkway, bike trails, mountains, etc. it’s a beautiful area to explore if you so desire. If not, Peaceful Waterfall is also just a great place to relax. We would stop here again for sure, if in the area. Thank you S for your hospitality, it was great.
What a wonderful urban oasis. Spot was convenient and beautiful. Host was friendly and very helpful and good communication.
“S” (my host) is a gem and so is his spot on the Creek! He was extremely helpful and communicative, sadly due to Covid I am not socializing much, but I would come back just to be able to chat with my Host by the creek! My dog was also thrilled to have a playmate- how lucky to find such kindness 💖 I am even staying another night!
We really enjoyed our stay here. We had a great view of the river, could hear the waterfall and see the ducks & geese. The spot was level and secluded.
Our host was very helpful and accommodating and shared his electricity with us. Would have loved to talk to him more, but we both respected the social distancing guidelines.
Highly recommended staying here and enjoying the hiking in the Roanoke area.
This host met me when I arrived and showed me elec and water if I needed it. We stayed our social distance. I just parked and relaxed for two days. Such a peaceful spot. Saw canadien geese and baby possum.
Would recommend this spot for anyone who needs a peaceful rest.
For being my first time to use Boondockerswelcome, I could not be more satisfied and impressed with Peaceful Creek. Host was very helpful and I enjoyed our conversations; and I cannot describe how peaceful the setting was- this was mine first stay but definitely not my last. Thanks
Peaceful Waterfall .. A kind and and friendly host. A breathtakingly beautiful part of the country. Thank you so much.
The place is very pretty with the little creek and is a perfect spot for a one night stay.
What a great place to stay. The host was so accommodating and nice. Great communication. Thank you so much!
We pulled in and from the start had an absolutely beautiful and peaceful experience. Our host greeted us with a smile and such kindness. We highly recommend if you are passing through to stay the night, and if it’s cold you will keep warm as the host so graciously allows you to use their electricity. We would like to note even if there had not been the option for electricity and you are able to go without, this would be a most delightful stay!
This is my third stop at this great little spot.
I travel north and south on 81 frequently.
It’s easy off of I 81.
There’s a nice golf course to walk along.
picnic tables provided and wonderful host enjoyable to talk with.
I felt a genuine connection with our host. It's not very often you meet someone so honest genuine and in general a great listener. I talk too much and he was happy to listen and listen to my stories and tell me a couple of his own. The property was absolutely gorgeous and like he described it actually felt like we weren't even in a city local is beautiful with the trees surrounding it and it's peaceful waterfall is very peaceful. This was my number one favorite Boondock. Partly because of the company partly because of the property. I sincerely wish you could give him double credits but at the same time I don't think he's here for the credits he is a people person in extreme. I wish him the best and happiest life I can possibly wish anyone. Thank you for everything.
We had a fantastic time in Asheville. Our hosts we're expert communicators, and extremely welcoming. They had wonderful suggestions for things to see and do while in town. We felt extremely safe on their gorgeous property.
The host was welcoming. The site was flat and grassy next to a creek with a swing and picnic table. The host was able to give us a great recommendation for a local RV service person as our slide was not working.
The host was very welcoming. The site was so peaceful and beautiful even though we were close to town. There was some traffic noise once in awhile but you could also hear the waterfall.
Peaceful Waterfall was a great place to stay on the outskirts of town. We were running a fair bit behind and he was more than understanding and somewhat concerned that we were OK. He mentioned the fire hall not far away and the possibility of sirens - though we were not interrupted through two nights there. The creek and waterfall just upstream loaned themselves to the name of this host location.
Nice stay for one night during a bit of a windstorm. Thankfully no branches or trees came down. Lots of room to maneuver around for the best views of the creek and waterfall. Many thanks to our Host!
We enjoyed our stay and especially liked relaxing on the swing next to the river. Host was very accommodating and generous. He gave us good directions as his place is a little bit tricky to find. There was a bit of traffic noise through the night as his place is right next to the highway. Thank you for allowing us to stay and enjoy your home.
Sherman was a great host with a very beautiful camping spot and quiet. we didnt not get to visit very much as he was very concerned that we might. Catch the bug he felt he was getting. But he made sure we had anything that we needed. If you are ever in the area. I would recommend that. You. Do not past. This. Place. Up. Once again. Very beautiful
Very peaceful place! Easy in and out. Just lovely. Nice meeting Host and other camper. Thanks!!
CreeksideVa has a beautiful spot for BW guests. Very peaceful setting overlooking the creek with the waterfall just upstream where it can be heard even inside with windows open. Two rigs could enjoy it all just outside the door. CreeksideVa met us ahead of his location and guided us in. I would encourage waiting for him to meet and explain the entrance. If we are in the area again we would definitely visit this host again.
Mr H was a superb host, really friendly and his dog Shay is adorable! We had neighbours which was cool, (Hi!!) who were also lovely boondockers on Mr H's location.
The parking location was just beautiful, the waterfall and creek is lovely! Wish we had time to stay another night. Thank you for having us!
We were welcomed with open arms and camped next to the waterfall. The dogs and I loved the spot. The property is beautiful and close to highway 81. I hope to return one day and have more time to chat with our welcoming host.
Had a great stop. The host and his dog couldn’t have been more pleasant and helpful. Loved the location.
Peaceful grassy site next to a rippling Creek. Our host helped get settled and even brought us some tomatoes from his garden.
We had a nice stay next to the creek. It was great!
Our second stay at Creekside was a cool August evening listening to the water move while watching a great sunset.
The creek side spot with a picnic table and swing would fool you into thinking you are in the country. My host was very proactive to make sure I found it and that all was ok.
Great place to unwind and relax. I hope to get to stay there again. Easy to find and plenty of room to turnaround.
Had a very pleasant visit. The host, Sherman, was so very nice and accommodating. Gave us electricity and anything we needed. Beautiful surroundings and a swing next to the stream. Some chickens as well. Really enjoyed our time there. Thanks again Sherman for your hospitality!
This was a peaceful location next to a beautiful creek. Our host made sure we got parked and were level and comfortable. Thank you for the hospitality. Hope to return when we travel this way again.
Wow what a great location to relax with a small waterfall to sleep by. Sherman treated us first class and we had fun fun fun. We wish we had more time to spend with both. Hope to host them in the new future in Delaware!
What a wonderful spot. Sherman was there to guide us in during a thunderstorm! Beautiful spot! Enjoyed conversation with him and Jo later in the evening. We swapped stories and laughed like we were old friends. Hope to get together with them again.
This was just a lovely location to relax for a few days. The creek is just beautiful and the ducks, geese and beaver that came to visit were an added bonus.
A bit of road noise and a little bit of confidence is necessary to pull into the designated area by the creek, but extremely worth it!!!!
Would definitely stay here again!!
Sherman is such a good soul! I would not hesitate on returning and would love to do so in the summer to tube down the creek.
Thank you Sherman for such a lovely, peaceful place to spend the night. Your location is aptly named. Peaceful Waterfall is indeed what I experienced. I am truly grateful for your hospitality. Thank you for providing a safe, tranquil spot for a fellow traveler.
Great spot on the river by a small waterfall right near town. Host is a great guy, fellow camper. Such a great spot we decided to stay 2 nights instead of 1. Thank you for the great stay on our journey.
I loved the spot next to the river. Host was very nice, the spot is on the grass and the drive way is a little tricky but not bad. I would definitely recommend.
The question here is: which is more charming, the host or the location? Both are highly recommended.
Mr. H. was gracious to postpone our stay by a day due to a weather event on our end. He was also extremely helpful getting us in to his location, talking us in by phone from the end of his property. A very engaging fellow, we wish we had more time to visit with him.
The area he has boondockers stay in is a hidden, peaceful gem. Sunrise over the creek is not to be missed.
Host was out in the rain helping me get electricity hooked up, even though I said it could wait till the rain stopped. Very thoughtful hospitality oriented.
I hope to visit again.
We really appreciate this site near the river with waterfall. It was quiet and near Roanoke. Our host was generous and really friendly
I have traveled several days and stopped here. It is so refreshing that I stayed 2 nights. Very generous and thoughtful host. I would love to come here again.
Will definitely go back!
What a beautiful site: right on a little stream and so close to downtown Roanoke. Wonderful host, was very helpful and friendly.
I attempted to stay here in route to Shenandoah National Park. Unfortunately, a hurricane pushing up from the Gulf and never ending rain prevented my stay. Sherman typically brings RVs in on a dirt entrance into his back yard. It was much too wet for that, so we (Sherman and I) thought I could park in his driveway. Big mistake. Got my 30-foot RV and truck stuck in a very bad situation. Unable to turn around after an hour of trying, it was decided to realigned the rig and back out. Long story short, I did some cosmetic damage to my RV and destroyed my 5th wheel hitch with some extreme jacking angles. RVs pin box bent the hitch release to the point where I could no longer release the RV. Hitch could not be repaired.
I would not recommend staying here unless the ground is dry and solid with no rain in the forecast. Those with 5th wheel rigs, do not attempt entering Sherman's property using the driveway. It's too steep and your tailgate area may dig into the underside of the rig. Only use the dirt entrance on the left side of his house that he recommends in his writeup.
With all that being said, Sherman is a super friendly guy and his property is very nice. I felt so sorry for him. He stood out in the pouring down rain while directing my attempts at getting my rig turned around. I also trenched the poor guys yard.
We only stayed over night but would love to have stayed longer. Sherman has himself a little slice of paradise. He directed us in and helped us get to a nice level spot with electricity then left us to enjoy his property. A walk down to the waterfall and creek was wonderful. There had been a shower before we got there and there was mist rising off the creek it was just perfect for our first experience being hosted with Boondockers welcome! Would love to stay again if we are ever back in the area.
Peaceful waterfall is a nice spot. It had rained heavily for a few days leaving the prime spot next to the creek soggy. The host met us upon our late night arrival and helped us to a level spot on his property. He was very hospitable and friendly. We were there just a few hours of the night as we were heading up North and just passing through. Will definitely stop at this spot again if we are in the area.
Beautiful piece of property. Unfortunately due to the amount of rain they’ve had we were not able to park next to the creek. However, Sherman accommodated us in another location. Very close to downtown. Thanks - if we’re in the area again we will definitely go back.
Creekside Va is exactly as the photos show. S. was an excellent host and was willing to help me with anything I needed. I suggest parking up on the higher areas further away from the picnic table if it's been raining a lot.
I needed a nice place to sit & rest, this was perfect for my needs.
The babbling creek had a gentle flow w a short man-made waterfall at the left-rear of this property that supplied some white noise to overcome some of the nearby street noise.
I enjoyed watching the seasonal visitors of geese & ducks hop the falls & be playful.
Sherman the host was very hospitable including mowing the lawn before I arrived &
assisting me w his air compressor to refill a flat tire that I discovered when I arrived.
It was caused by a very slow leaking valve stem extension. It was easily repaired the next day by a local very nice Mobile Tire Repair Mechanic.
I would definitely return again & I do highly recommend this place.
Thank you Sherman, it was a pleasure!
Host was very nice and helpful. Immediately brought a 15 amp hookup to site. Dogs played together. Both waded in the stream. My first Boondockers Welcome stay. Great to have a secure, tranquil spot for a night en route. Highly recommended.
i had a great night stay here! There is plenty of room to park and you can't beat the view right on the river.!
The host was very friendly and had I not had a schedule to keep I would have stayed another night.
We had a wonderful stay. Our host was very generous. His property just by the water is incredible. We will come back for sure !
This spot is so relaxing, and the people who live here are so friendly and kind that you're not gonna want to leave! I sure didn't! In fact I ended up staying an extra night.
Our family LOVED staying at CreeksideVa. The picture can't really capture this peaceful little spot. We woke to the sound of the waterfall and our boys spent the morning skipping stones on the creek. Sherman is a lovely host. We so appreciated his kindness and conversation. If you need a place to stay in Roanoke, this is a great one.
Sherman is a most gracious host with a beautiful piece of property, located a few minutes from I-81.Our parking spot was on a half acre of mowed lawn next to a creek and waterfall (low head dam). An extension cord was left for our convenience. Sherman has a gift of hospitality and will be pleased to share a cup of coffee or 'leave you be.'
Pay attention to the directions to enter his property and you will have an superb experience.
