ADDED March, 2019 - We have blocked out most dates for the Spring and Summer of this year. That doesn't mean we are not here, but we like to be able to leave on a moment's notice - and we do have a long summer trip planned. If you're interested in staying, please contact us, and we'll let you know what's happening. Safe Travels :)
Doug & Tom's home at Rascal Ranch is 1/4 mile off the main highway. Close to many tourist attractions. Gravel driveway. Electric hookups are mostly back-in sites, unless you have a coach, then you can park it how you want... if requiring pull thru parking, no hookups available, tho we might be able to run a 15amp extension out. There's always dry camping in many spots.... both graveled and dirt. Still... we have many friends who come to stay with us, so limit our BW visitors to two at a time.
There is ample parking for any sized rig, especially the large "pull-thru" area where you don't need to unhook, if that's what you need. Water can be arranged at two locations, sewer dump is available at one of those... these are free for the taking, as they cost me little or practically nothing (we are on our own well). If you are needing electricity, we can hook you up but request a small, daily 'donation' to cover that greater expense on the homestead.
There are two 50-amp receptacles but they are currently 50-amp, only. If you require 50-30 downgrade, do you have your own pigtail? We have only the one, which reduces 50amp to 30amp... it might already be in use.
One site has all hookups, with one of the 50amp plugs. Another site on the opposite side of the garage has either the other 50amp, and parked however you can get in for an 'overniter' only (your rig will kinda be in the way of coming and going there for longer)... or the 20amp connection which allows you to back in out of the way (planning on getting a 30amp over there, but that's for later).
Both of those could have a hose run to them... if you have a long enough potable or will use a regular garden hose.
And the rest of the driveway is available - within reason - with both an "in" and an "out" gate, for dry camping and that "pull thru" I mentioned.
Observing normal quiet hours. Well behaved pets are very welcome, but as their owners/parents... please pick up their poop, prevent them from barking incessantly, or digging up/destroying any of our property. Our availability only applies when we are at home, not when we ourselves are traveling. Contact for that availability, and check the 'blackout' dates.
1/4 mile of dirt road off highway, never too rough, then thru a 12' wide ranch gate.
There are approximate 2 acres of open area to park tow vehicles in. Two gates to access the RV areas, from either direction, or just drive thru.
Kartchner Caverns, Bisbee, Tombstone, Fort Huachuca Army Base Historical Museum, Chiricahua National Monument, San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area, Arizona Folklore Preserve, Ramsey Canyon Preserve, Saguaro National Monument (Tucson), Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (Tucson)... and many, many others. One hour to the border town of Nogales, AZ/Nogales, Sonora... a beautiful drive from our place.
Doug was an amazing host! His property was close to everything we wanted to see and it was quiet and peaceful. Thanks Doug for a great first boondockers welcome experience.
As I write this, we are actually still here. We had some issues and asked Doug if we could arrive two days later; he was very accommodating. As we were driving here, we discovered a mechanical issue with the motorhome and had to order a part. Doug was very laid-back about our request to stay an additional night so that we can replace the part. It’s SO nice to know we won’t have to attempt the repair in some remote BLM land!
Rascal Ranch is about 2 acres of southwest bliss ... we can hear the coyotes at dusk, neighborhood chickens and roosters cluck and crow just far enough away to be entertaining, not close enough to be annoying. We can even hear donkeys somewhere, and there’s a small flock of Gambel’s Quail that scoot past our motorhome during the day. We haven’t seen the roadrunners yet. It’s a short 15-20 minute drive to 3 grocery stores, Target, Walmart, Autozone, etc., in Sierra Vista, which is a surprisingly “new” looking town and easy to navigate. They have a nice dog park in Sierra Vista, too! The Ranch is an easy and pretty drive to Bisbee and Tombstone. We hope Doug will visit New England one day ... you’re welcome to park in our driveway, Doug!
We really enjoyed the location with the views of the mountains! The host gave excellent directions and met us at the gate. The site is a back in spot but was able to do it with our 40 ft 5’er. Great spot to branch out to Bisbee or Tombstone
Doug was a great host who made my first stay with Boondockers a true pleasure. My cat and I enjoyed walking the paths around his property. It was located close to sites I wanted to visit. The stay was quiet and relaxing, just perfect!
Doug is incredibly accommodating and has a fantastic setup in the beautiful Arizona desert. Super close to many attractions with a strong Verizon signal! One of our favorite stays yet! We look forward to keeping up with our new friend, Doug!!
Turns out I'm the first visitor at Rascal Ranch. And for his first host, whetstonedoug couldn't have done any better. Great location if you're heading between Phoenix and El Paso. Power was a plus. My pup loved running fee around the multi-acre property. Doug was a responsive and welcoming host. Had no problem finding the place and the drive in was smooth despite a recent thunderstorm in the area. Not far from Tombstone and Bisbee, AZ for those wanting some old western tourist options.
