3 Acres in heavily wooded area near deep water mountain lake with 800 miles of shoreline.
Located in the Cumberland mountains of Tn, an hour north of Knoxville and two hours from the Smokie Mts, 30 mon from Cumberland Gap
This area is a treat from city noise so we ask for no generator noise. Star gazing not the same with generators abuzzing. Please leave area as nice or even nicer than when you arrive.
Friendships is what kindles the fire pit area!
Road from town is well paved but is quite curvy with few guardrails and several steep wooded drop-offs. Just before Springs Dock Resort and Marina - GPS often takes u up a very narrow lane. Continue PAST Springs Dock to Dogwood Acres (2 quick lefts after Marina). Climb up the hill of Dogwood Acres -fourth house on left is Dancing Dog!!
Plenty of ample parking space in beautiful wooden settings
We rv during summer months ourselves from end of May till first week of Aug. The remainder of year ‘our casa su casa’, at least the rv spot!!
Full service marina a four min walk away with boat ramp, hiking trails and lots of room for pets to wander. Giant fire pit!! Cumberland Trailhead 20 minutes away in Lafollette which has several hundred miles of hiking trails.
Our stay at Dancing Dog was wonderful. The Dogwood trees here are amazing! It is a bit tough to catch them in bloom since it only lasts a couple of weeks, but if you are lucky enough to hit it right this is the place! Our hosts furry friends were quite friendly and welcoming as well. We enjoyed quite a few conversations by the fire as well. Too many good memories to list. A must visit location!
So nice meeting these hosts! Thank you for your hospitality and conversation around the campfire. I enjoyed meeting your dogs as well!
I loved the private pull through campsite on the side of hill with power and water. (a bit of leveling required) The hosts were genuine, kind and even owned the same brand of fiberglass trailer I have! I enjoyed the adorable boating community and would love to come back through to explore it some more. Please be aware that this is harrowing drive (as the host described) If you're not comfortable towing on narrow curvy roads without guard rails, you may want to reconsider. My only regret is not being able to formally say goodbye as an ice storm was threatening. Thank you again for providing a safe and beautiful place to land!
We had a couple of days around New Year’s Eve open up so found Dancing Dog and requested a stay. Lovely spot - even in the rain! The spot was perfect and easy to access with our truck and camper (although the road there had some pretty tight turns). Manuel and Dana were perfect hosts: great communicators and so welcoming. We pulled in at night and had a sweet time around the fire before our travel weary bones required our undivided attention. If they have room this place it is an A+ place to stop. The lake and surrounding scenery is stunning as well. Thanks again Dancing Dog!
DancingDog had 3 sites available, we chose the one down the driveway. They had a very nice patio-type setup there, with fire ring, chairs, and even a rug. It was freezing cold, so we didn't avail ourselves of these, but we sure did appreciate the power! We did take a nice long walk and had nice views of the lake. The winding roads were fine for our minivan and teardrop, but may have been a little challenging for a bigger rig. Worked great for us and our hosts were very friendly and kind!
Loved our stay with M and D. Perfect parking spot on their beautiful property. Close to Norris Lake, but we were so busy sightseeing to Cumberland Gap and Museum of Appalachia we never broke out our kayak! Enjoyed the chat around the fire and the dogs, too. Hope our paths cross again.
A stunning view of the lake to one side, a beautiful mountain view to the other, and a huge rope swing to see them from is just the beginning. Our rig was showered with dogwood flowers, and hospitality. Although we only stayed one night, these folks were very warm and welcoming. We will definitely be seeing them again!
Wonderful hosts, quiet neighborhood on the lake. Unfortunately we we're too tired for the campfire but enjoyed talking and sharing stories. Lots of squirrels and birds. This may be along way off of the beaten path but well worth the drive.
Great stay, great views. Roads are difficult to navigate for a bigger camper though.
Super host, very helpful, a beautiful stop, was a bit chilly for our visit to be outside. Loved it here. Definitely would recommend for smaller units. Thank You
Great hosts. Enjoyed camp fires. Sharing conversations. Able to introduce hosts to Martinis, cheers. Thanks for the use of your kayaks. The shower was greatly appreciated. Lovely time😊
We’ve only been a Boondocker member for 8 months or so, and this is only about our 7th Boondocker stay but I gotta say that this concept, and the host that have sponsored us, just get better and better. Dancing Dog owners quickly went from host to friends in the short time we’ve known them. They literally treated us like family and the hours spent visiting around the campfires have made this stay our best ever. The balance of socializing vs all of having our own space was perfect. Our only hope is that we can stay in touch ... and convince them to come stay with us sometime soon. If we are ever in this area again, you can bet we won’t hesitate to stay here again. In a nutshell....I don’t believe you will find any better host. Thanks so much M&D.
We immediately felt welcome, nice quite place in the woods. Couldn’t have asked for a better host family!
