Great place to boondock and amenities if you choose! The host & hostess are wonderful people. Turned out we know several of the same people. Small world.
I arrived early and they invited me to park eatly as thuer plans had changed and coukd accomodate me. Sweet couple, nice spot with power & 110 electric if I choose. And I did, fir a small reasonable fee to keep my doggie comfy if I needed to keave her.
And my own fire pit!
Thanks so much Linda & Grandpa!!
If you like good old fashioned friendly hospitality, you’ll find it here! Not too much, not intrusive, and so welcoming!! My little Journey dog and I had a great week at Racers Retreat!
Thank you very much for the excellent pit stop! We really enjoyed our time with you! Hope you are able to visit us sometime!
This is an absolutely great spot with plenty of room. The hosts are super sweet and helpful. We were having some battery issues and they helped us get them fixed up. We would be happy to come back and stay here anytime. Their dogs are super sweet as well.
Linda and Marion are the sweetest of hosts, very welcoming and generous in all ways. Fun, interesting, and knowledgeable, they are absolutely open-hearted in their sharing of their home. What a lovely restful time we had there!
2 days at their place. Have a great time. Love the hosts. Wish to come back. We recommend their place. They made everything good.
Two very helpful and considerate people , learned a lot about rv s . Hope to meet up with them again or when they come to Canada. Thanks Lynda and Marion glad you where our first stop .
Lynda and Marion are delightful and very accommodating. Each evening when we returned to our camper, their dog Camo would happily greet us. It was truly a comfortable and secure location to explore the Ft Myers Beach/Sanibel Island area. Thank you SchoolmarmandGpa! ...A+
Linda and GrandGpa are the best host you can have. Interesting, interested, We could stay longer that's for sure. We now have friends in Fort Myers. We shared food, stories and more.
Thanks so much for who you are,
Laurelle, Roxane and Guy xx
We learned so much during our stay, and we left a less “wet behind the ears” than we were, for sure! Thanks for sharing the week with us and the kids!
Linda & Marian were so kind and gracious. Great hosts. We loved talking and hearing racing stories. Will definitely return to visit someday. We loved meeting their other guests also. Enjoyed the children. Absolutely a great experience. Definitely recommend this spot.
Great hosts. Nice large area to park our 5 th wheel. Very friendly and shared lots of stories about Drag racing and travelling
Shared great campfire with the host and other boondockers. You felt like one of the family. Our paths will cross again. We felt we were one big family. Thank you for being fantastic hosts.
Virginia and Bob
Our second stay was even better and once again we can't say enough about this host couple. They are super friendly and helpful giving us all kinds of tips as well as doing friendly acts of kindness. They helped us search and pick out a new vehicle, and then set it up for towing. Also, they are helping us sell our pickup camper top. They "adopted" us and feel like family. We have made lifetime friends and plan to stay in touch.
Accommodations were great. Plenty of room for our large 5th wheel and boat. But the icing on the cake are the hosts. So friendly, helpful, accomodating, fun!! We even had a campfire one evening. We highly recommend Racers Retreat. We would definitely stay here again!!
This was our first Boondockers Welcome experience. We originally scheduled a five day stay but Linda and Marion let us stay two extra days while I recovered from kidney stones.
Warm and wonderful people who went out of their way to make us welcome and comfortable
Used water and electric and their yard was perfect for walking our cats.
Thank you so much,
Brian and Jane Salus
We were inundated with rain on the day we were to leave and Marion and Linda invited us to say a few extra days. We found them exceptionally helpful with a number of RV-related items and are looking forward to return again next year.
Linda and Marion are two of the most generous and helpful people we have met. They were at the gate of their large property to greet us when we arrived and spent time with us conversing about our experiences. Marion is a wealth of information about mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Linda and Marion are very experienced RVers, brimming with knowledge that we found very useful.
We could not have asked for better hosts! SchoolmarmandGpa are a great couple who go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome. We enjoyed talking with Linda and Marion and hearing of their racing life...WOW!!!..so
Our stay in their lovely yard was most appreciated. Our dog Clancy had a great time running around in their yard and making friends with their two great dogs. A fun time for all!!
Marion and Linda are very special hosts and anyone who has the pleasure of staying with them are in store for a treat! They are most knowledgeable - about camping and anything mechanical as well as the area...so staying with this "Winning Team" is a WIN WIN for any guest.
Happy Trails Marion and Linda.....until we meet again!
Linda (aka SchoolMarma) and Gpa are good folks that have a heart for helping people. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to stay another day due to the high winds. They have a very nice home and the rv parking is in a good spot. Great place!
We really enjoyed staying at Marion and Lynda's home outside Ft. Myers. It was exactly what we needed after a busy week at the Florida RV Super Show. The yard is big and expansive with room for several rigs. The dogs enjoyed the yard as well with some play time with the hosts dogs. Shopping and services are close by and easy access from I-75. If ever rolling thru this host location is easy to access and the hosts are great to work with. We will be back if back in the Ft Myers area.
Can't say enough good things about these people. We are new to RVing and have been traveling in Florida for several months. Stayed here and with the guidance, help and generosity of the host couple were able to solve several issues with our travel trailer. Cleaned trailer and awning, added new generator platform to back of trailer through one of their contacts, secured generator to new platform, painted trailer platform and tongue, removed rattle by securing truck hitch, trouble shot water heater. The hosts are very knowledgeable and generous with their tools and advice. Great location with lots of room. Definitely plan to stay in touch with our new friends and stay again sometime in the future. Highly recommend them.
Such a great location. In addition to the wonderful hosts, you're very conveniently located to groceries, shopping and whatever you need. Naples or Sanibel Island beaches are only an hour away.
These hosts are wonderful, we will be back next time we're in the area!
Grandpa and Schoolmarm were the best hosts! Our dogs got along beautifully and we felt very much at home. We enjoyed a lovely New Year's Eve dinner with them and happily extended our stay. They were such friendly and generous hosts and we had a great time!
We had some good conversation and a nice spacey site.
We look forward to coming back if in the area and the host is available.
Couldn’t have asked for a nicer couple. Very informative with rvs and cars if having any problems. Hope to see them down the road and hope to see them drag racing sometime as well
We stayed here for almost a week, and are sad to be leaving. Quiet spot with great pool, nice dogs and even better people.
Grandpa runs an excellent grill and Grandmarm was a kind and charming hostess. We enjoyed stories from their many years of racing, and history/life together. They definitely love to socialize, but also gave us all the space we needed to get some things done and do lots of exploring around too.
It happened that we got here at the same time as another couple from WA state! and we all enjoyed a New Years Eve dinner together :)
We will most certainly back next year, and will talk to them about reserving our place a year ahead of time so we don't miss out next winter haha.
A fantastic experience in every way.
So in short, you will love the place and these two- but don't even think about coming here when we are passing through :D
Excellent location near Fort Meyers, hosts are great people with outgoing and fun personality. Easy to park near water and 15 amp power. We were rained out almost the whole time which limited our exploration but enjoyed the stay.
Nice big area to pull into, parking spot almost perfectly level, water & power.
The hosts were awesome, very welcomeing, loved listening to Marion and Linda's stories.
Thanks a lot for the good time
This was a most pleasant stay at a time when we had to do some warranty work in Fort Myers. We enjoyed sitting on their patio with great conversation and watching our dogs romp around off-leash. I can’t say enough about how wonderful and accommodating they made our stay. Thank you and your two very sweet pooches.
Very interesting couple. Loved hearing about their racing. We had a comfortable place to hook up to electric and were made to feel welcome. Hope they can make it to Ohio sometime.
We met a wonderful couple, Linda and Marion (aka SchoolmarmandGpa) on our very first Boondockers Welcome adventure. They were unbelievably helpful in every regard, including fixing some issues with our motorhome and giving us towing advice. We had a chance to check out their new motorhome and GrandPa's racing car. (This is not something one can experience every day!) They offered us to stay longer and we gladly did so in they nice and spacious backyard. Their dogs were as welcoming as them and we made friends with them right away.
All in all, our stay was awesome and we hope to meet them again in the future.
Linda and Marion, your hospitality was terrific, we'll recommend you to every boondockers!
We had a nice peaceful stay here. Linda and Grandpa were both very friendly and welcomed us as soon as we got there. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area!
Well this was a surprise. A comfortable parking spot with hydro and water what more could you ask for. We also made friends and stayed longer then anticipated. They are two wonderful people and we had great conversations and they even showed us around town. I would recommend this spot. WE plan to meet again on the road. Thank you again Marion and Lynda.
