Friendly neighbor hood setting. Camp fire pit ready, water and electric available. Pet friendly.
You may smell a pig or two cooking, deal with it!
Paved road easy access off I-75. Just pull into the yard and camp.
May 1 through October 31. We are home most of the time except when we are out roasting pigs. We do not need to be home for you to set up camp.
Canoeing and kayaking close by. State parks all around. Hunting and fishing close by. Many nearby lakes.
I didn't get to meet our host because he was out roasting pigs. He gave us good instructions, we were able to set up on our own, including no charge 15 amp electricity and good WiFi. We didn't need water but it was available. The site was nice, grass covered and level. We met his daughter and son in law, both super friendly. There are a couple of empty lots nearby good for walking the dog. This was our first Boondockers Welcome stop and it was a very positive experience. We would stay here again.
Very gracious host. The family is in overdrive in the summer.
Tool us to make ourselves at home. Quite and a nice neighborhood too walk the doqg.
Thank you much, look forward to stopping again when passing through.
Great folks, very accommodating. They are very busy this time of year. We made ourselves at home.
Easy on and of freeway. Plenty of room to park.
Thank everyone so much, Mike, Sara and Tanner
Our hosts were great, very hospitable, offering water and electric! This is a perfect spot for a overnight to break up your driving!
07/24/20-07/26/20 (Had to leave a little early due to incoming weather and our heavy rig).
Close to town – Country neighborhood.
Hosts were very friendly and accommodating by email, telephone and in person. We were invited to participate in a pig tasting. The food was extremely good. Hosts routinely cater during the summer. It’s word of mouth and that’s all they need! Everyone in this area knows all about the meals they smoke. We parked right there in the front yard near a fire pit. We talked about travel plans and family. Host graciously provided 15A hook up and if needed, water. A really quiet area. Nice Bakery in town (Grayling) called Goodales Bakery. You can’t miss that while you’re there. Great pastries and breads (be sure to get the Apple/Cinnamon loaf). The Hosts are an easy on and off from I-75. A great stop off point heading to the UP or back down south. Verizon signal is 1 bar without the extender. Using our WeBoost, we were able to get 2-3 bars. Telephone and text works great. The internet side must be 3G. Not real fast. It does work though. Just don’t expect to stream. Email, web searches are about all. Local TV Stations are many. Just use antenna.org and plug in the location in order to find the right TV Stations. Many thanks to the hosts for allowing us to meet, greet, eat and stay! Will definitely stay here again with the Hosts OK.
Verizon Service – 1 bar w/o Extender. 3-4 bars with Extender. Phone Svc Good. Text Good. Internet 4G/3G OK but not great.
Over the Air TV – 31.29°, 153.95°, 82.29°, 33.16° - (Multi Channels – Point toward Traverse City, Kalkaska or Cadillac depending – Use Antennaweb.org and insert address)
We appreciated the roomy place to park for the night. It is a very quiet neighborhood. It's close to I-75, kayaking, and world-class fly fishing. Thank you to our hosts.
This was our second time ant Penmars place. It was great. Good area for kayaking the rivers and biking to towns. We had a great time catching up and eating a phenomenal dinner with them. Recommend staying here if you will be in the area.
Hope to see them in Florida and 🙂
Great place to stay. Easy to find and level. The host are wonderful. Friendly people who love to have boondocks come in. They are wonderful cooks. We had a great BBQ. They included us with their children and grandchildren and put out a spread. I enjoy the area and would certainly like to come here again.
Though this was a busy time for this host, he greeted us promptly and friendly.
With rain most days, we did not venture out, but enjoyed a relaxing time at this site.
We arrived later than we expected but Mrs. met us, in spite of her having her extended family there for a pig roast. Mr. had already crashed and we didn't get to meet him, because we hit the road the next morning at 8:00 a.m. There location is easy to find and close to I-75.
Penny and Mark are wonderful hosts who greeted us with a lovely roaring fire in the outdoor fire pit- a most welcome site after the cool day of travels. We had a great late afternoon chat with Mark around the fire. Their location is quiet and has plenty of room. We highly recommend Penmar826 if you are travelling this way.
Mark and Penny met us with smiles and we got to talk by the campfire into the night! Plenty of space for our rig.
Mark and his wife were busy at a barbecue. Saw them late at night and early next morning, but they were busy the following day. Spot is quiet and a safe place to spend the night. Hope your Saturday barbecue was a success.
Thanks for the place to stay
Words won't do justice to these folks. We were invited to a wonderful dinner in their yard, talked for hours about the deepest things. Such generous, brave and honest souls. We left full of lessons and inspiration. Thank you!
As we pulled up to mark and penny’s house after a long drive we were welcomed to their home with a fire, ribs cooking with all the fixings, desert and drinks ready for us after we got set up. I don’t know if they do this for all their boondockers but we were so grateful for their kindness. (As a side note we just contacted them a few hours before arrival!!) Mark and penny have a catering business and deal in bbq. Best bbq we have had out on the road. We spent the evening sharing stories by the fire as the dogs found all the greasy morsels on the ground. They were so happy too!! If you get a chance to stay on their property you will be delighted to meet new friends. Thank so much you two. Hope to see you out on the road!
Penny and Mark were wonderful. They made an unbelievable smoked turkey dinner. We sat around their fire pit laughing and talking while having a few drinks. Mark was so kind to shuttle us to the kayak drop off. By the time we left it seemed we were friends for a long time. We look forward to going back and would recommend Mark and penny if you are traveling through this part ofmicigan.
