Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostWe live right in town, about 1/2 mile off the main highways through Redmond. We have room in our small side yard next to our garage. You'd have to back in on to our lawn to have your RV door exiting toward our home. The space is too narrow unless you have no slides to permit use of BBQ or lawn chairs and we have neighbors within 30' the house so generators couldn't be used either. If you have a pet, you may park in our backyard, along the fence and then you could also run a generator if it's quiet. You'd have to put your pet in our fenced backyard, right behind where you'd be parked.
If you are parked in our backyard, no running of generator between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
If you have a pet, pick up after it, we have a bucket to dump the waste in.
Children are welcome as long as they are under control. :)
Smoking is allowed but we don't participate in the habit.
Nice paved roads throughout town and your route from the highway to our home. You'd be parked on grass with nothing to worry about overhead.
On the street if they want to disconnect or they may park their RV on the street if desired.
We are home most the time. Most nights from fall through the spring we have freezing temperatures.
We may take trips on short notice, so you'll just have to check and see if we can accomidate you.
During the winter, we are snowbirds so are gone from Oct to April.
Smith Rock State Park, High Desert Museum, Lava Lands, Lava Cast Forest, Newberry Crater National Monument, several microbreweries, farmer markets in season, outlet mall, Costco, Trader Joes in Bend.
HighDesertTravelers were wonderfully accommodating of my gang, including kids and dog, despite late notice, a late check in, and and last minute addition of a second day! Great playground a block away, and big fenced backyard where they let my kids and dogs run. Thanks!
Had a great stay at High Desert, warm and friendly couple that were great hosts. Would stay again.
Good to see the hosts again. Was a last minute request, grateful they were able to provide space. It’s always nice to sit outside and chat with the hosts.
It seems my original review got lost in the internet ether. I really enjoyed meeting and visiting the hosts. Truly welcoming and a relaxing haven after a long day of driving. Grateful for the time and same offered, good people
It was nice to have some conversations and stay there. I look forward to meeting and staying again. I felt most welcome which is a nice experience vs. typical traveling.
This was our first host site and a great one it was! The hosts and Fritz were so welcoming and inviting. Thanks so much for allowing our pups into your yard! Loved our visit with you and your town is great!
We had a flat tire, which delayed our arrival, but High Desert Travelers accommodated us accordingly. Our rig easily fit in their level drive. They offered water, electricity, drinks, & conversions, but we politely declined as we needed sleep.
Gracious hosts who made us feel more than welcome. In addition to good conversation (socially distanced!), and electric and water available if needed, they opened their beautiful backyard and patio to us to enjoy at our leisure. Fenced backyard is also great for pets. Close to trails for a nice walk or bike-ride. Would definitely love to see our hosts again!
Enjoyed my stay and would certainly stop back when next in the area.
This was our first Boondockers Welcome experience.... and it totally set the bar high for our next experience. They were very accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure that our time spent there was truly memorable and effortless. Location was in great proximity to the Redmond airport (where the host was even kind enough to drop one of us off at). There's plenty of things to do within walking distance and the the area was very safe and quiet.
Hope to see the HighDesertTravelers again during our travels, if not in Oregon, perhaps somewhere on the road together!
Very sweet couple who I would recommend to anyone! Thanks a million for everything!
Best,
HighriseToHighway
HighDesertTravelers were super great hosts! We had a few special needs for this portion of the tip and they were totally willing to help us. Very much like them and hope to visit again! Their yard is setup nice for parking and is super close to downtown redmond. Would definitely stay again!
The High Desert Travelers are very experienced RVers and were very helpful to us newbies. They wonderful, very nice people. The site level nice and level and peaceful. They also offered water and electric if needed. I would stay again in a heart beat. Hope to see them again in travels. Take care and thank you again. M&D
Thanks HighDesertTravelers. Lovely quiet street. Nice backyard and lovely hosts. Thanks for having us.
HighDesertTravelers are both great hosts and we enjoyed our conversations on their beautiful patio and yard, as well as play with their friendly dog Fritz. We had time to explore several suggested points if interest as well.
Hope we have the opportunity to revisit when we are back in the area
Easy to find off main highway into town, Host welcomed me and helped direct me onto grass side lawn. We visited as he showed me his large fenced backyard, great motorcoach & welcomed my lil dog Scout. Had a pleasant visit, offered me an extension cord to 15amp garage outlet, which was perfect for me for the night. He wife was working late so we didn't meet. Surprisingly it got below freezing in the wee hours so I truly appreciated ability to use my space space heater. A nice host and overnight spot if stopping in the area.
HighDesertTravelers are very accommodating and are great hosts.
Mado
We truly enjoyed our two night stay with HighDesertTravelers! We dropped our cargo trailer on the street in front of their house, and they put us and our pickup camper in their fenced backyard instead of in their side yard so our 12 year old Lhasa Baxter could be off-leash. The first evening, we sat with them at their patio table enjoying adult beverages and good conversation, and Baxter just sat at his feet. The next morning we unloaded our scooters from the cargo trailer and headed off the Bend. We came back in the afternoon, and enjoyed another afternoon of good conversation on their patio. We had left the camper door open so Baxter could go in an out at will, but they told us when they checked he mostly just stayed inside the camper but finally did come out. HighDesertTravelers are "Baxter approved" folks and are first class BW hosts by us, highly recommended!
We had a fantastic stay with HDT’s. They are friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had troubles with our truck and they went down with us to get it sorted at a local shop. We couldn’t have asked for anything better and would love to stay with them again. Thank you for everything x
Such a hot day and so nice to come home to the High Desert Travelers.
They provided us a cool and refreshing Oasis on our way through town,
and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
Despite a long shift that day and another looming the next day,
Mrs HDT took the time to visit with us both in the evening and the next morning over coffee.
We stayed in their quiet side yard and had a wonderful sleep that night,
and were able to have an early start the next day after a coffee.
We shared mutual traveling tales and information and would hope to meet with them again!
There are lots of good people out there in the world and these two are tops!
I’m batting 1000! Yet another wonderful couple who make you feel like your visiting family. I will them and I’m grayedul for the safe and warm-hearted place to stay. Thank you and God Bless you both!
High Desert Travelers were lovely hosts. Very accommodating.
If you need a respite in central Oregon, be sure to reach out to them. They are friendly and just lovely people.
Sweating bullets, all the local parks filled due to the eclipse, local parking lots filled with RV's with no where to stay. HighDesertTravelers took us in....Let us park on the street in front so we didn't have to even unhook our car. We got to sit in the back yard for some pleasant conversations and our old desert dingo could wiggle on the green grass and sniff to his heart's content...(no green grass at our desert hide out!) Didn't need to hook up because as soon as the sun went down the temp dropped to a nice sleeping range. Thanks guys for the pointers on the road north, we could have ended up in North Dakota!!!! Yikes!!!
HighDesertTravelers answered our mail imiddiatly and even ofered to pick us from the Redmond Airport as we arrived by flight from Toronto.
They were our first summer 2017 stop and they helped us get ready to get on the road including recommending a place to serve thr truck and give us a ride to and back from the garage.
We enjoyed every minute with them, hope to see them again.
The are GOOD PEOPLE.
Tony and I loved these two wonderful people. They were very helpful in so many ways. We felt very welcome camping in their yard and our pups enjoyed romping in the fenced in yard. We hope to stay friends and see them again in Redmond or on the road. Happy Trails to you both.
Our request was answered promptly, and we were made very welcome.
We had a quiet night in nice location.
