We live on a small farm in the country about an hour from Kings Canyon National park and 1.5 hours to the south entrance of Yosemite. We have goats, chickens (including a rooster), cats and dogs who patrol the property and as such, it can be lively and noisy at times.
We live directly across from an active citrus farm set up and therefore orchard fans (running continuously at night in frost season) and other farm equipment may be in use during your stay.
There is wonderful produce all around and many great day trips you can take to Forestiere Underground Gardens, the Blossom Trail and more. If you are visiting during the Spring/Summer, there are many local fruit stands to buy juicy strawberries (April/May) and peaches/stone fruit (June - August). We'd be happy to point you in that direction.
Parlier also boasts some wonderful Mexican food. We have a local place that sells street tacos for $1.75 each that is a favorite easy meal option (Taqueria Zihuatenajo located at 13129 Parlier St).
We host a number of guests throughout the year. Due to the increasing number of people we are hosting and rising power costs in our area, we are asking for $5 per day for those who would like to use power. This is for an overnight stay or a multi-day stay where guests are sightseeing or don't need to power their rig all day (A/C units etc). If you would like to stay for multiple days and continuously use power we will need to negotiate a different rate again due to the high cost of power in our area. We don't have continuous water hook up to offer, but can fill up tanks upon request.
We are not able to host guests with dogs.
No smoking or fires on the property except in our fire pit. We live in wildfire country and guests should keep this in mind and make plans/arrangements for rapid departure if necessary.
Road access is on paved roads. The access to the RV spot is paved and allows for a K turn to maneuever in and out.
Parking next to rig
We are pretty available but may not be able to accommodate requests with less than 48 hours notice due to unforeseen out of town trips or events happening on our farm. We'll do our best to accommodate you if possible.

What a nice place to stay! It was very quiet and we loved watching the ground squirrels and bunnies out our window. The three dogs they have are very friendly (I really miss having a dog so it was fun to get some puppy love) and the goats and chickens were fun too. We highly recommend this host!
Thank you so much to HilscherFam for providing us with a safe and quiet location. The fresh eggs were an extra bonus! The host gave us wonderful suggestions for visiting the nearby parks, and we had a wonderful time visiting Kings Canyon. We would definitely stay again!
We had a very restful time here at Hilscher Farm. Hosts were very accommodating. Definitely recommend.
We had a great stay at the Hilscher Family Farm, Heather came out and introduced herself and gave us all kinds of useful information on the area and places to eat as well as visit. Easy in and out, and the chickens and goats were fun to see and hear.
Thanks for the hospitality
Bob & Pearl
It was just a quick stop for us but it was really cool checking out all the citrus growing there. A real novelty from those of us from up north!
Nice quiet spot in fields of citrus trees. Such a nice and gracious family, grateful for their hospitality.
Great place to stop for the night! Quiet and neat location! Thanks!
Our stay was great at the Hilschers. They were flexible with a weather delay and quick to respond. Helpful with where to park and plug in along with sharing from their plentiful fruit trees. The kids had a blast petting their friendly dogs and seeing the other farm animals. We will definitely be back to these gracious hosts farm. Thanks again for the hosptality!
This was our first time using boondockers welcome and it was great! Very nice family with friendly dogs and a wonderful night of sleep.
We stopped here so we could drive to a couple of national parks during the day. Our home on wheels is too large to take with us and it was nice to know it was in a safe location while we were away. Both parks were a couple of hours away, but we enjoyed seeing the diverse landscape between their home and the parks.
The host is delightful and the fruit trees are just gorgeous! We walked away with a few persimmons and lemons from their trees. Thank you so much for having us!
Convenient for what I needed and… Love the animals. Roosters crowing, dogs barking and protecting me, goats bleating. And though Covid safe I did have the opportunity to meet the hostess from a distance and have a wonderful conversation. I would repeat in a minute.
Nice one night overnight stay while headed South....Encountered Host and daughter very friendly, dogs and farm animals fun.
We enjoyed another stay the the farm thanks to this sweet family. The spot is easily accessible for our 43 ft rig, Level, and very convenient to our route down south.
We had a wonderful stay at this family’s farm. They were super flexible with our arrival time & encouraged me not to rush. My children were in heaven with their farm animals & friendly dogs/cat. They were so generous with their recommendations, time & assistance. Their children are beautiful & kind and even shared new toys with our children. We loved our time here & visiting Kings/Sequoia NPs! I hope our travels connect us again in the future.
My partner and I rested our heads here for several nights on our travels and had such a wonderful time! The hosts were so helpful and such lovely people :). We were gifted with so many delicious, home grown products like eggs, fresh fruits, and even wonderful artwork from one of the younger, and very talented, hosts! Our dogs loved having some space to roam off leash and got on well with the host dogs on the property. We also walked around some paths outside of the property and that was fun to do with the pups as well. We highly recommend you consider stopping here on your travels. We know we’ll be back!
We stopped in for a night on our way up north. The hosts were friendly and helpful even brought us some extension cords to hook our trailer to the electric. It was quiet and we enjoyed their dogs and other animals.
Great communication and directions. We were met and guided onto a level, paved driveway. We spent a peaceful night and headed off in the morning after breakfast, looking out on the Sierra mountains. Thanks so much for your generosity. Hopefully next time the threat of the Corona Virus will be in the past and we can share a campfire. Stay healthy!
We had a great experience - parking was easy (lots of room and a long/wide driveway to back in). We were always greeted by the dogs who we loved - they were so friendly!
Host was gracious and we loved the fresh oranges from their tree - they were so sweet!
Unfortunately the kids didn't get to play (coronavirus precautions) but we were so grateful to be allowed to stay on the property for a couple days!
Had a great time at Hilscher Farm, especially with their friendly dogs! Their farm was on a country road, but still close to town if you need some supplies. Tangerine grove across the street, beautiful sunsets at the camping site, and just overall great atmosphere.
I highly recommend this wonderful quiet Boondocker spot!
HilscherFam were wonderful and so very accommodating! Our water pump went out and they were gracious enough to allow us to hook up to their water.
HilscherFam are great hosts. They spent time welcoming us and filling us in on local attractions and the best way to get there.
I loved the chicken and goats and their 4 friendly dogs! It was a quiet place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of town.
Had a restful time at Hilscher's farm. They have chickens and goats. Quiet at night. They are a delightful and very busy family who and travel when they can. Easy to find their place and level sunny site for our solar. Hope to stay there again when we come back to visit Sequoia NP.
This was a very peaceful and quiet place to stay and see the Central valley and the Sequoias.
Thank you so much, Hilscherfarm!
Our stay at the Hilscher Farm was great. Very friendly and kind host and dogs, quiet and safe location. We had a very good nights sleep. Would stay again most definitely! .
My family spent just one night at the Farm, but the Hilscher were really welcoming and helpful. Thank you!
We didn’t see much of our hosts since we spent most of our time driving into the Sequoia Park and Kings Canyon. An excellent location to use as a base for sightseeing, and gracious hosts who provided recommendations for sightseeing and meals.
The Hilchers are an amazing family living with purpose and intent and a true focus on raising their children well. We wish we had more time to get to know them.
The valley here is full of fruit and nut farms offering a oddly attractive beauty. It is over a mile in elevation lower than King's Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. The thought of coercing our class A up that grade in the approximately 100 degree temperatures was a bit worrisome. Hilchersfarm to the rescue! We based here and drove our car on the southern loop of the parks one day and through King's Canyon, to the end of hwy 180 the next. Put down a lot of miles, but also got in some hikes, waterfalls, and lots of giant Sequoia. King's Canyon is not to be missed (drive it slowly and really take it all in).
Thanks again Hilchers and thanks for the Mexican restaurant recommendation; outstanding!
This being my first Boondockers Welcome experience was wonderful quiet and a great time for learning. My hosts were kind and considerate. Thank you for the very pleasant visit.
As a back to the land wannabe we really enjoyed our stay here. Great weather good advice on our upcoming Yosemite visit. Tough decision to stay longer or in the Parks.
We really appreciated having a safe place to pull off the road. And we enjoyed meeting the pups, goats, and chickens!
Really enjoyed my stay here. Limited time with hosts, but time spent with them left with me feeling they were very kind & considerate. I appreciated the generosity that they showed, by allowing me to pick some fresh citrus from their small farm!
Loved the farm animals, the little goats were so cute & made my laugh & smile quite a bit
Fell in love with their three dogs, who reminded me of mine back home, always excited to say hi, greet me in my comings and going’s & made me feel loved. I still miss them! Hope to make it back some day and say hi.
Thanks Riley & Heather!
Riley and Heather made us feel very welcome and put up with a few delays from us happily. The three dogs added to the visit and also made us welcome. Thank you so much for a relaxing time, although too short
Thank you for having me again. Very nice quiet farm spot. Your dogs were happy to see me again too!
We enjoyed our stay, even with the orchard fans going off in the wee hours !
I got to hold and play with little tiny baby goats. This has now become my favorite place in all my travels!
This was a great stay, quiet farm, friendly family! We appreciated the mandarins and grapefruit shared with us too! I just wish we could have been able to connect more during our stay.
It’s often challenging to find a quiet spot for an overnight stay. WalMart parking lots — a diminishing option—and rest areas in states where it’s allowed, are practical but noisy places. The Hilscher Farm offers a quiet spot, close and far enough from urban services. Our host was very welcoming and accommodating. This was our first guest experience with Boondockers Welcome, and it was excellent! Thank you!!!
PS: highly recommend Ortega Taqueria in Reedley for great tacos! :)
Worked perfectly for us on our trip south from WA.
Nice chat with H, but it was a school night and we only talked for a bit.
I'm sure we'll see them again.
Looking forward to it.
Thank you guys so much! Close enough to Fresno/Visalia/Tulare, but far enough out that you are away from it all! Awesome family!
I adore this family. They are always so nice and beyond friendly. And I love their farm. Baby animals everywhere!
Was greeted by 3 nice little dogs. Very friendly hosts. Thank you!
This is a great location to explore the area. We spent full days checking out the Fresno area as well as Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. They offered us 20amp power too. Their family of dogs were very friendly and protective of us which led to some barking but overall a quiet place to stay. Thanks again for the great hospitality.
We stayed here for two nights while visiting the national parks. The Hilschers let us have some of their delicious peaches and gave us a couple good tips about local Mexican food. We beat the 99 degree heat at the local libraries, as we were visiting in August. We would stay here again!
I liked your farm. The fire ring would be nice in cooler weather. Your dogs were friendly and kept the critters away. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you personally. Thanks for the stay!
We enjoyed our stay very much. Our host was very kind and informative. The location is great as well, only an hour or so to different national parks. Thank you for letting us boondock.
Kasia and Steve
Hands-down the best Boondocker place to stay. The family is wonderful, the scenery is amazing, and if you love animals it’s a total bonus.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! There was a great private place to park Clark (our trailer), our kids loved playing with the dogs and checking on the chickens and goats. The highlight for us and our kiddos was being offered to swim in the pool after a hot day and puck some lemons and oranges off of their citrus trees!! Thank you for being so welcoming!
These folks are my favorite. I wish I had time to spend with them today, but my insomnia kept me up so late that I slept past their dinner outing. But there will be a next time! And I can already tell you- it will be fantastic!
We arrived late due to mechanical problems and had to leave early. Reilly greeted us and introduced us to the dogs. The parking place was level and easy to get to. Reilly offered us 15 amp electric but the connection out by the parking place was low voltage so we went with our batteries and the generator for breakfast. We had asked about the generator and were told it was okay.
We were sorry we didn't have time to get to know the family. We would recommend this pleasant stop to anyone needing a place headed for the Bay Area from SoCal.
Booked in for 2 nights but only stayed 1 after a day trip into Kings Canyon turned into an 2 day adventure. Sorry for any inconvenience. Easy driveway to back into. Thanks for the opportunity to stay.
H and R are both very accommodating and kind. They helped us in and gave us tips about our upcoming travels in generous fashion. The farm was peaceful - a really nice place to both rest and visit the national parks in the area. Thanks so much to the hosts!
The Hilscher family was the perfect place for our first time boondocking. They were amazing hosts, letting our kids all play together and swim in their pool. My kids enjoyed seeing the animals, and the location was perfect and easy to access with our 38’ rig. Highly recommended and many thanks!
The Hilsher's are SUCH nice people! So accommodating and friendly. It was a beautiful place to stay, but really the best part was their family. Truly. They gave me a tour and let me walk around and play with their farm animals. They have 2 very friendly goats, a whole bunch of chickens, a few #UglyKittes and 3 #UglyDogs and all of the animals are super friendly. And they had 2 little baby chick that were so #Adorable. They offer 120V out of one of their barns and before I left offered me some of the strawberries that they just picked up at the local fruit stand.
It was quiet and peaceful. I slept great and they let me fill a few of my water jugs from their well water spigot.
If only everyone was this nice. I would definitely stay at their farm again!
We can't say enough great things about Hilscher Farm. Very quiet, private area too park. They are surrounded by nut, grape and citrus fields. Riley, the host, was great to visit with and offered tons of local knowledge. We are very thankful for the opportunity to boondock overnight as we make our way to Sequoia National Park.
We had an awesome time at the farm! Rylie was so accommodating and gave us tons of recommendations for what to see in Yosemite National Park. He also had suggestions for restaurants in the nearby town.
This was our first Boondockers Welcome experience and it was so great. The electric hook up was the icing on the cake, and there is also water available, if needed! We would highly recommend the Hilscher Farm, their three dogs will be very excited to greet you!
We scheduled four days but something came up and we arrived a day late and then left early due to the heat. Still, our hosts were very gracious and eager to help us any way the could, not to mention flexible. One word of caution, GPS's will want to take you down tiny, bumpy farm roads because it's a shorter route. Stick to the major highways. You'll be glad you did.
Such a nice place to boondock with friendly dogs and chickens and goats. Weactually stayed 2 nights and are so grateful to our hosts for their hospitality.
You will stay amidst the groves and orchards of central California within jumping off distance to Fresno and several renowned parks. I highly recommend this courteous host family.
Easy to find and good Access for camper. welcoming Hosts, quiet area. Much Appreciated as we passed through.
100% awesome people. We had such a good time hanging out with all of them, they were incredibly fun and hospitable. We are looking forward to keeping in touch with this sweet family
