Sorry - we are not able to host in 2024. We are about 10 minutes from Lower Sackville, about 25 minutes from downtown Halifax or Dartmouth and about 8 minutes from the main highway (Hwy 101). Your parking spot is in our driveway (gravel) in the suburbs. Reasonably level (we have planks to help you if needed). Suitable for Class B and smaller Class A and C units up to about 30 feet or so. For a motorhome, driving in is best for privacy - your RV door will overlook the side lawn. There is a small public beach on a freshwater lake about a 2 minute walk from our house. Lovely for a refreshing morning, afternoon or evening dip! We don't mind if you need to run your generator for a while, but please respect our neighbours by keeping it off overnight (10pm-7am). We can offer a 30 amp or a 15 amp electrical hook-up if needed, water if needed (from a well). We share our space with two medium sized dogs who are off leash in the yard - so pets are welcome - but must be dog friendly, on leash (unless we have discussed it), and you must pick up after them! Aussi, je peux parler un peu de francais (mais mon mari ne peut pas), alors si vous ne parlez pas beaucoup d'anglais, je pense que nous peuvons encore communiquer! NOTES FOR BIGGER RIGS: Slides on both sides may be an issue as width is a bit restricted, but we'll see what we can do! Bigger trailers might have a harder time manuvering into the driveway so not suitable for large trailers or 5th wheels. Recommend no more than a 25 foot trailer as even this is a bit tight to back into the driveway, but can be done! Suggested Local Attractions:Lower Sackville has most major services (library, hospital, grocery stores, service stations, banks, walking trails, off leash dog park etc.) Also close by are several attractions - Uniacke Estate Museum Park, Fultz House Museum, Atlantic Splash Adventure (Atlantic Playland), Scott Manor House (Bedford). In Halifax - visit the Halifax Waterfront Boardwalk, Historic Properties, Museum of the Atlantic, Alexander Keiths Brewery, Citadel Hill, Discovery Centre, Museum of Natural History, Pier 21, Point Pleasant Park, etc. In Dartmouth - visit Shearwater Aviation Museum, Shubie Canal, shop at Dartmouth Crossing, take the ferry to Halifax etc. The Peggy's Cove/Swiss Air Memorial area is a nice day trip from here, as is the gateway to the Annapolis Valley (Windsor, Wolfville, Blomiden, Cape Split etc.)

House Rules

Please plan to arrive before dark! We understand things happen...if they do, please contact us so we know when to expect you. No smoking on the property unless you are in your RV please! Generators are ok, but please keep them off between 10pm and 7am. Our two dogs are loose on the property - we do try to keep them from bothering company, but you may still get the odd visit! Please keep your pets on-leash and remember to pick up after them...thanks!

Location

Access Road Conditions: Paved but winding residential road...easy drive! Be aware that there are speed bumps on this road!! Driveway is probably only suitable for a 25 foot trailer or smaller as it is tight to back in. Motorhomes up to 30 feet should be ok. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Overnight street parking is ok except in the winter. There is also a public beach just down the road (about a two minute walk) where a vehicle could be parked if absolutely necessary. Depending on the length of your rig, the tow vehicle may fit in front of it.

Age:

Retired and lovin' life! Details: Retired and enjoyed adventures exploring Canada and the US with our two dogs! Just normal average folks... :) Did tent and tent-trailer camping for years, then changed to a Class B RV (van). Our first great adventure was across Canada, through the Yukon and Alaska, and back home - quite a start! We had several other excellent adventures, then decided to sell the van and settle down for a while. Not sure what the next chapter will bring yet! Home Town: We are just outside Halifax, Nova Scotia, in an area called Middle Sackville. We are about 25 minutes to downtown Halifax, and about 20 minutes to Windsor, NS, the gateway to the Annapolis Valley! Favorite Boondocking Locations: Outside the Pinnacle entrance of the Badlands National Park in South Dakota...oh my! Skills or Expertise to Share: We're do-it-youselfers for lots of stuff whenever we can - and pretty good at figuring out how to do a temporary fix if we can't do it ourselves.

I met nice people who gave me great travel tips. The swim in the lake was definitely a plus. I would go back.

That word says it all. These kind folks completely redefine "welcoming, accommodating, and generous"! Our boondocking experience just keeps getting better and better. We will be in the area for a while and have every intention of revisiting them on our way back through Sackville. Who could miss such a treat?! Thanks so much! Warmest regards, D&P
