Have you stayed at this host location?
My rural property is nestled between cherry and apple orchards. I have a 70' x 10' gravel pad tucked between a pole barn and the woods, with water and a 30 amp RV outlet. Also have a spot for a smaller RV or trailer in a grassy area at the far end of the property, and a fairly level spot along the front of the pole barn that can be used if a pull through is needed.
Nothing particular, other than my business is also on the property, so excessive loud cursing would be frowned upon :-)
I am on a rural road, but I drive in and out of here with my bus conversion and toad all the time. About 6 miles from Lake Michigan at either Arcadia or Frankfort.
Lots of room with campsites
Available most of the time from the beginning of April until November 20ish. I don't mind if you are a new member, but if you haven't at least filled out your user profile so I can get an idea of who you are, don't expect much availability :-)
M22 (National Scenic Byway, )Point Betsie Lighthouse, Lake Michigan Beach at Frankfort, Downtown Frankfort, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (voted the most beautiful place in America), 45 minute easy drive from Traverse City.
dadesigns4u took us last minute and we had a wonderful 3 days there. The weather was not the best, but we strolled the orchards with our host. It is an easy drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
Great place to spend a nite. Easy good road from US22. Very interesting host. We can now claim we know the guy that designed the "Frankfort Fish". Thanks again Dan for a great stay.
Dan and his family made us feel very welcome. Dan gave us info on the area and let us tour his bus(s), and his momma (who is visiting him for the summer) took me on a tour of the woods and orchards around their land. It is only an easy (little traffic) hour from Traverse City, and very close to the quaint town of Frankfort and the southern portion of the Sleeping Bear Dunes. We highly recommend Dan and hope to stay with him again when we return to Michigan!
We really appreciated once again our stay with dadesigns4u at Frankfort. Go Turbo!
We had a shady, level spot to park in. This was a beautiful area and a nice drive in through the hills to get there. Host was welcoming and accommodating. Had a good night.
We stayed overnight with Dan. He met us early so we could drop our rig and explore the local attractions. He even had brochures ready for us! Really nice man and overnight stay. Highly recommend!
We did not have access to the internet and only requested a stay the morning of, when we found free internet. Our host was more than accommodating, he was laid back and most helpful. The welcome gift was awesome - talk about feeling special!. I met a lady that I feel will be a friend for life. I wish I had time to stay longer. The surrounding is calm and beautiful. We hope to get back in 2019!
Our family had an amazing stay here! Though we arrived later than expected, our host came out to visit around the campfire with us! He was wonderful and we really enjoyed meeting him, Turbo and Mom too!! Very friendly and hospitable, and we would love to make this home again sometime! Plenty of space for our large rigs here! dadesigns sets the bar high for boondocking! Thank you for a great experience!! (Mrs. Dieselnomad, for the whole crew!!)
We felt very comfortable as soon as we arrived. He had a great spot for us to park and went above and beyond with helping us know what there was to see around town and events that were going on. We enjoyed learning about his rig!
We so enjoyed our stay! Dan is wonderful host. He met us with a packet of information about the area, helped us get set up with water and 30 amp and made us feel generally welcome. It's a lovely piece of property that backs up to dense woods. I loved just sitting outside listening to the birds.
In addition to our wonderful campsite, I cannot say enough about the area! You are close to Traverse City, beaches, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and the nicest little towns you will ever find anywhere!
I hope our paths will cross with Dan's again!
Dan goes above and beyond just a place to park. Providing a fire ring with wood and a picnic table is a plus and the site was flat and quiet. Dan told us about some must-sees in the area which wee spot on! Great place!
As our first boondocking experience, Dan has set the bar pretty high!😊He was super hospitable and gave us pointers on where to go and what to do. His place was quiet and he provided wood so we could enjoy the cool Michigan evening by a campfire. If we are ever by here again we will definitely stop!
People like Dan make us love "Boondockers Welcome" even more!
Great Bus conversion, even greater human been.
Very convenient place with everything you need.
Thank you again Dan!
Perfect place, large area for parking, turning around, wooded, beautiful area, quite. Great place and an awesome host.Took the time to tell us about the area n had maps for us. Would recommend you go see for yourself. If we ever find ourself in this area again , we will be back.
Dan is a superb host, helpful, knowledgeable and knows the area. Turbo patrols the grounds - a great pup! Nice place for a stop amongst the fruit trees & farms of the northern lower.
This was a nice stop over on our way to Traverse City. Dan has made a nice place for his Boondocking guests. Thank you! And hope to see you down south :-)
Great host! Very friendly, helpful & kind. Wish we could have gotten to know him more. Great great great location to many things! Would stay again
Wonderful guy and easy level parking spot. I had fun throwing the ball with his dog.
Stayed one night...enjoyed some great conversation before we settled in for the night. Would have been great to talk even longer, but we both had early mornings planned for the next day! Beautiful area and so peaceful. Would certainly stay again!
Turbo was definitely a highlight of our stay and his people were lovely as well. Such a beautiful place to wander and explore looking for fairy’s with my children and being frightened by scary rabbits in the dark. Another great story and part of the adventure. Thank you very much for hosting us.
Nice experience. Greeted by Turbo before the host. Nice place and very nice guy. Hope he and Turbo make it down our way.
Dan was a welcoming host. He helped us get set up and even offered firewood and a fire pit. The boondocker spot has a picnic table and an area to sit and relax in the wooded site. We appreciate Dan's hospitality and give him the highest rating possible.
We had a very enjoyable stay with dadesigns4u - very accommodating host, fun to talk with, and very helpful about the neighborhood. Thanks so much!!
dadesigns4u was so lovely and accommodating, we'd love to stay with him again and recommend him to anyone and everyone! Location super convenient to some of the most beautiful areas of the country!
This host was thoughtful and engaging in every way, really. He eagerly provided us with an overview of the area: maps, personal recommendations, and even set out fresh water for our pups just prior to our arrival.
We enjoyed sharing some fireside time with him and his family, as well as his pooch TURBO!
Thank you, again, dadesigns4u, for MORE thank just a boondocking experience!
This couple and their family were a delight! They were understanding of the vagaries of cross country travel and let me change plans with grace! The location is very special: very rural but close to the highway and the lake. My spot was level and very pretty! They sent me off with directions to a scenic drive of the shoreline. I would have liked to stay longer.
I hope they will come stay with me in NY!

We had a great stay with dadesigns4u. Nice spot, friendly accomadating people, and a fabulous area to explore. Within a short drive to a couple of nice towns with beaches, dining, shopping, movies, etc. We highly recommend this host.
Host provided excellent directions with pictures to get to the site. Very nice level spot with electric and water. The property is quiet and surrounded by apple and cherry orchards. Close to Frankfort and Sleeping Bear Dunes. We had a great time sharing bus stories with the host and meeting Turbo.
