We are located in a small community in a quiet, pretty lake region about 50 minutes from the center of Charlotte, NC. We have a view of a Lake Norman cove across the street.
Quiet hours from 10pm to 7am.
We prefer arrivals before it gets dark to ensure safe back-in of your rig.
Due to extreme sensitivity/allergy to smoke, smokers are asked to please smoke in the confines of their RV/trailer only.
Winding, wooded rural road with minimal local traffic along a lake tributary. A small hill and one sharp curve enroute but we have traveled it easily with both truck/trailer and Class C.
Must back up a driveway through a 10 foot gate into a fenced backyard area to park. Parking is not level (slope 1 foot per 25 feet) but is on solid turfstone drive.
Tow vehicle can be parked in front of the fence.
We welcome guests any time of the year. However, outside water will be shut off during the coldest winter months due to potential freezing of outdoor lines or water taps. Potable water will always still be available.
We are less than an hour from downtown Charlotte. Other nearby attractions include the US National Whitewater Center, Mooresville Nascar race shops, Lake Norman State Park, Lazy 5 Ranch, Billy Graham Library, Tiger World, Carolina Raptor Center and Latta Plantation. We are about an hour from Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord and the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer, two hours from Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Black Mountain, 3 hours from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
KaRoNC were awesome hosts helping us feel very welcome. We were invited to use their 30 amp electric and enjoy the back yard. We had delightful conversation under their pergola and would enjoy returning to their home.
We enjoyed a great (albeit short) stay with KaRoNC. They promptly responded to all of our communications and greeted us upon arrival. Their property is beautiful and we appreciated the electric hookup and use of the WiFi! We took a quick stroll down to the lake, which is also beautiful. We arrived just before dark and only chatted for a few minutes, but in the little time we spent with them we could tell they are genuinely nice people! We hit the road early the next morning to continue our journey.
The parking area was a bit steep (which we were warned about) and we were concerned about damaging the fridge so we placed a few LEGO blocks under the front tires. We’re relatively newbies, so maybe it wasn’t necessary (but we’d rather be safe than sorry)!
Karen was very responsive to our emails. Enjoyed the electric hook up and WiFi that they had set up for guests.
Beautiful grounds, enjoyed a good night sleep.
We had a wonderful time with Ron and Karen. Great place to “camp”! We seemed to have common interest which is a plus.
We'll never forget our stay here. Our hosts went far over and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We could use their yard as much as we wanted and our kids loved it as much as we did. They even helped us prepare our rig to continue our journey.
We felt like we found a new family there.
Really hope to see them again.
After staying here last November we where happy to be able to return here for a quick overnighter on our way back to Canada.
Had a restful night on their property and enjoyed the conversation.
Hopefully you will get the chance to visit Nova Scotia sometimes this year
The "KaRoNC's" were so very welcoming and helpful and their property is beautiful. It was a very comfortable stay that I enjoyed so very much. Thank you both again!
We really enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend it.
We had a lovely and quiet overnight stay at this place
KaRoNC welcomed us, we had a nice conversation and hopefully helped them with their travel plans to Nova Scotia
Would definitely stay again when in the area
Perfect overnight stay with these two lovely hosts! Our dogs loved the huge fenced in yard! Beautiful neighborhood across from the lake. Very quiet. Electric and wifi!!! Our hosts helped us get the right tire pressure, the tires were very low. Wonderful experience! Our first time staying with BW.
Karen and Ron were wonderful hosts and even extended our stay for a full week so we could stay for the NASCAR races in Charlotte. They welcomed us with open arms, and loads of information about the area. We came as strangers and left with new friends.
The host here were absolutely amazing. This was my first staying with a host from boondockers welcome and I could not be more pleased with my experience. As I pulled up I was met with smiles and helped with backing in to their beautiful backyard. As I set everything up the conversation was excellent and the host provided a 30 amp extension cord as mine wasn't quite long enough to reach the outlet. I didn't see much more of them after I settled in as I was in town for work, but the time I did have with them was wonderful. I hope to have the opportunity to stay with them again in the future!
Karen and Ron were wonderful Boondocker hosts and went out of their way to accommodate us. We now have two new RV friends and look forward to seeing them again in our travels.
Melanie and I spent a delightful few days with Karen and Ron. To say we are fortunate to have been welcomed at their wonderful home is an understatement. In addition to their generosity in providing us with a 30 amp hook up and water, and a beautiful backyard garden area in which to lounge, they are the most charming and best hosts a traveler could imagine. We are pleased to now call them our friends.
Wonderfully nice couple. Lovely neighborhood location. Very quiet area with beautiful view.
What more can I say than I was extremely fortunate to have not only found such a beautiful place to stay, but to have found such a special couple and Ron and Karen. Their friendly nature was exactly what I needed after a long day's travel. Consider yourself lucky if you have a chance to stay with this wonderful couple on their lovely property.
We can't say enough positive things about our hosts or our stay here while we explored the Charlotte area. They were so friendly and accomodating, and even allowed us to use their shower as the water was turned off outside for the season. My husband and I enjoyed getting to know them during our frequent conversations, and they are some of the nicest people we have met during our travels. We look forward to stopping by next time we are in the area!
We were so fortunate to find Karen and Rons place. They are wonderful, friendly, gracious people and worked out everything we needed. Extra perk for me is she a great gardener and. It only did I learn some things from her, she gave us some things from the garden as well! They have a great spot and we highly recommend paying them a visit
Very friendly hosts, nice spot in their yard. Close to Charlotte. Would definitely stay again.
Karen and Ron could not have been nicer. Lovely people, lovely property. I hope our paths cross again.
This was our first try using Boondockers Welcome. It was our first time boondocking in a driveway. We loved it! Our hosts were incredible! First, they have a beautiful home in a fantastic location. Second, our hosts are experienced RVers, and we learned so much from them. Third, their gracious hospitality and friendly-nature made us and our old black lab feel right at home. We will travel that way or out of our way just to visit them again!
Such wonderful hosts, helped me back...I joined them for dinner, great conversation. Nice quiet area
Thank you so much
Wow, KaRonC are one of the most lovely couples I ever met. Very caring and extremely welcoming, willing to share there multitude of knowledge....I left their home a better person and I think we will be long life friends. Can't wait to see them again.
I will say I just pulled in, while pulling up I was met the gates were being opened. The backing in wasn't bad and with the host spotting it was a piece a cake. I wasn't but parked and I'm being hooked up to power. I will say the Boondockers host I have encountered is a <emoji> percent better then any campsite. Thanks for everything already. If you need a comfortable spot for a layover don't hesitate to contact these folks. I will be stopping again.
I stayed with these folks in June of 2017 for an overnight while enroute to Linville Falls in western North Carolina.I appreciated how they welcomed me and allowed Lizzie and I to stay the night at their place. I will say that anyone wishing to accept their hospitality be quite comfortable in maneuvering their rig into tight quarters. If you are, then definitely give these folks a shout if you find yourself traveling that way!
