When coming to our place, after driving through a neighborhood you will arrive at a rural setting where you can park on a flat gravel surface.
Trees on the property are not a problem.
Turn around is available.
If towing, you will need to unhook as it is a back-in site.
You may hear trains in the distance.
We have a lot of deer and other wild animals on the property.
If you have a pet it is best to keep it on a leash and/or watch it closely as there are woods all around.
We have a large pond on the property which you are more than welcome to swim in and fish.
As an FYI, we are about 15 miles off the large highway. If you are looking for a quick over night as you travel through, there is a Walmart and 2 campgrounds much closer to the highway than we are.
There is good cell service here except for AT&T, which can be tricky at best.
Relaxation and enjoyment is required!
Mutual respect and common courtesy is of course understood.
We do not expect compensation for the services that are provided other than a kind thank you.
The 3 day maximum is negotiable. Let's talk.
For your comfort, it would be better to find our place before dark. It is not a hard location to find, but GPS and other things can easily send you astray.
No problems. Wide open and easy even for the longest rigs.
Because it is a back-in space, you will need to unhook your toad. Tow vehicle parking close to rig.
The National Stearman Fly-In 8 miles north, the week beginning Labor Day, annually. The first two weekends in October, the Knox County and Spoon River scenic drives are in progress where you will see many crafts, and local foods for sale. Usually the last weekend in June is the Railroad Days festival. There is a wonderful children's museum in the nearest town as well as an historical street with many quaint shops and eateries. 50 minutes north is Arsenal Island with a great deal of historical information and also the John Deere Pavilion with wonderful displays. 50 minutes south east is the Caterpillar pavilion and a very interesting children's museum.
Fantastic Stay! In the country but adjacent to a small town. Hosts met us right away. They are very gracious and helpful. They had 50A service and water available. So very much appreciated. These Hosts are wonderful and treat you very well. They like to spend time with you and get to know you and share RV stories. We spent time together talking about many other subjects as well. Good times for sure. The property is very well groomed with a pond. Deer are all around. Another BoondockerWelcome member happened to be here. They were also very nice people to meet and greet with as well. We hope to run into them again one day. Parking is easy even for larger rigs. Our 5th wheel rig is 42’ and 20,000 lbs. For most, it’s not an issue. If you need a Walmart, or Target, they are only 20 minutes away. So many restaurants to choose from. For over-the-air TV, just point to 360.0° for multiple channel selections. This is one time we would have liked to stay longer. When we return to the area (and with the Hosts permission), we would definitely want to come back and stay here for sure. Thank you Hosts for your generosity! We’ll stay in touch!
This was our first Boondockers stay! We were very impressed. The hosts are a lovely couple with a willingness to help. Our rock guard had come loose on one side. We hadn’t noticed it yet, but our host did right away. He helped us get fixed, even providing us with some tools and carpet to lay on to crawl under the rig. They have a beautiful piece of property they they are continuing to actively improve upon. We slept well and it was quiet and peaceful. Hookups were an added bonus and graciously offered. Thank you cbmg for an amazing experience at our first Boondocker’s Welcome location! Blessings!
What a perfect place to stop along our way headed west. It's a bit off of the interstate but the roads are just fine. Their drive was huge and it's easy to turn around. Beautiful property too. Thank you so much.
C&M were terrific hosts, they have a great property and they were right about the sunsets, very nice. I hope to be able to stay again when we can spend to time to visit.
Our hosts are very generous and accommodating, just as we remembered from previous visits.. Impressive sunsets only describe part of this great site. The site is level, provides electric and water and a relaxing area to stroll beside a pond.
We will request this Host location when next in the area and highly recommend other do the same.
We loved being able to stay on this property. The hosts were very accommodating and welcoming.
They invited us to explore their land and pick blackberries and we did just that.
It was beautiful to explore their picturesque land. The kids got to see their Bernstein Bear tree and enjoyed picking wild black Berries.
We will definitely be going back just to enjoy their haven better instead of just passing through
We were warmly greeted upon arrival and they helped us get set up. They were great with our kids, inviting them to fish in the pond, use their outdoor shower, pick wildflowers, and just enjoy their wonderful property. We loved our time with them on the patio and only wish we had set up our schedule to stay longer. We look forward seeing them again there or on the road. What a great stay, with new friends! Thanks to you both!
What a magical time we had by the hosts. We felt like we were being hosted by close family for the several nights that we stayed by them. Their home is filled with acres of delight, no need to go anywhere! Our family enjoyed walking and biking through trails, fishing, frog hunting, and swimming in their beautiful pond that they built themselves! Our hosts exemplify the qualities of warmth, kindness and respect. They gave us everything we needed and more. They were incredibly sweet and fun with our children and even arranged activities and outings for us, including kiddie pool, a woodworking demonstration, and a petting zoo. We especially enjoyed a lovely evening on their deck, with the breathtaking sunset while our kids roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Our hosts are a wealth of knowledge and skill; they even helped us repair our broken awning on our RV! We really enjoyed connecting with them over politics, life, religion, relationships, parenting- you name it. We’d love to come back and spend more time with them. We had tears in our eyes as we parted. They truly are hidden gems.
This is a beautiful piece of property. Green fields, trees, a pond with bridges, wild flowers, and two wonderful people as hosts.
We were here in June and the evening breezes were cool and the sounds of the wildlife was so calming. The hosts went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and even took us to a friends farm to see sheep, goats, and alpaca.
We highly recommend this wonderful place and these awesome people.
Is there anything Mark and Celia can’t do?
From the warm welcome to the beautiful estate, to the swims in their pond, cookout on their deck, and the patience of a saint that is Celia, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful and desirable place to make memories.
And that’s without getting into detail of Mark’s wealth of knowledge, superb analytical skills, and the broad, wide-ranging range of the most interesting life experiences you will ever find that made chatting with Mark so intriguing. Pick a topic - any topic - and Mark will have so much to add to the conversation!
Helpful is their middle name. With more tools than a hardware store, a wood and metal shop, and talent and skills to best any tradesman, we are so grateful for the help they gave with our awning and other little issues.
The perfect blend of kindness and hospitality, we are so thankful for all the help, enjoyment and relaxation, Celia and Mark extended to us and our friends on our stay. We’ll be sure to remember our time with them fondly.
Absolutely wonderful. Gracious guests, easy access.
Would go back in a heartbeat.
We were greeted as soon as we arrived. Had a beautiful view. They invited us to join them for a night on their lovely deck and gorgeous view of the pond. Geese fling overhead and a quiet tranquil night under the stars. Too bad we didn't have more time to share "camping stories". We are hoping that one day we will be able to spend more time in the future down south for a cajun crawdad feast . . . . licking our lips at just the thought of it! Thank you again for letting us stay at your little oasis. We really enjoyed ourselves.
This is a great site. You would be hard pressed to find a more accomplished couple. Wishing them the best.
This host site is big rig friendly, you have to back in but very nice property . Will be staying again
The stay was amazing. It was an easy in and out and quiet. There is a train in the distance, but I've learned that if you are in Illinois you will hear a train in the distance. They helped us to find activities every day and urged us to come a little earlier to see the town's once a year festivals. We were able to relax around a fire and roast marshmallows the last night of our stay.
We loved our time here and will be stopping by again! We got to explore their large amount of property freely-they were welcoming and great people to talk with. I can't say enough great things about this stop! It was our first boondockers welcome stay and definitely made it so worth it!!
We are so excited to have had the opportunity to meet C and M and experience their amazing hospitality. We felt as if we had been friends for years. The scenery was breathtaking. I would rate this an easy 5 Star!. We're hope to have a chance to see them again.
Our host gave very good directions to their location . Easy access for our 37 ft class A we had 50 amp which we were so grateful as the heat and humidity was terrible. Beautiful location seeing the town and surrounding area enjoyed the old buildings . We enjoyed a meal on the 4 July and we met there friends we all had a great time. We deffently recommend this location. Hopefully our paths cross again thank you so much to our host.
Can't say thank you enough for letting us stay. Sorry we didn't get to meet C***** but we did meet M*****.
Nice folks in a quiet location. Once we retire we'll be able to arrive at our stops earlier and not need to leave early as we do now due to that four letter work "work".
Would be nice to spend some time with our hosts. Hopefully they didn't think us rude for arriving late and leaving early the next morning.
We stayed a few nights at this sight and really enjoyed our surrounding and the couple hosting. We are new to living in our motor home and Mark gave us good ideas to help us in our journeys.
We would definitely stay here again.
We had a great time staying at cdmg's place. They have a fantastic location, with lots of cool improvements underway. Easy access, level ground to setup on. The host were top notch, we had a great time walking around their property together getting to know them and seeing their beautiful property. We highly recommend this location to anyone coming through this area, you will not be disappointed.
We can't say enough good things about these gracious and welcoming hosts. They certainly created a wonderful memory for us. We hope to see them again in the near future. Recommend anyone in the area visit them.
We had a great time with this host. Spent the evening visiting and enjoyed a glass of wine together watching the sunset and deer. Even heard some coyotes before dark. Cbmg, thanks again and you're welcome anytime at our home. Would be great running into each other on our travels.
We spent one night with these folks on our way north. I don't think there is anything else they could have done for us, extremely gracious hosts. They provided everything we needed for our RV plus some help with a water problem. We had a lovely visit watching the sunset. Whatever the highest rating is, they get it!
Hosts Cbmg were extremely warm and friendly. They made us feel like family. Our site was level and very accessible. This member is a must if you're traveling in the area west of Peoria Illinois
Site is in the country but close to a grocery store, gas station, family restaurant and coin laundry. Galesburg is only 10 miles away with city dining, shopping and entertainment.
Extremely nice and gracious hosts. Great sense of humor and outlook on life. Made us feel like long lost friends returned. Lots of wildlife viewing.
Will return when in the area.
We couldn't have asked for better hosts. They are a prime example of what makes boondocking fun, meeting great people. If you're ever in the area be sure to stop in , you will not be disappointed with the location, nor the hospitality.
Peace and quiet along with fantastic views. it's close to town, but you feel like you are way out in the country. We saw bunnies and fireflies at dusk.
Celia and Mark couldn't have been nicer. They even shared some of their garden veggies.
