We are located in the Kawartha Lakes region of central Ontario. This is a beautiful area with numerous lakes and rivers. Great boating and fishing, ATV trails, snowmobiling, hiking and biking. About an hour northeast of Toronto.

We have a large property with ponds and hiking trails you are welcome to use, and can accommodate large rigs. If you are travelling together with someone else, we might be able to accommodate that too.
As we love to travel ourselves, we may not always be available, but many of our trips are short or flexible on date. Please give us a call with your tentative dates and we will see if we can work something out. We would love to meet you and hear your stories!
Away from the city lights in a quiet and peaceful area, with great stargazing at night. You can sometimes hear the wolves howling in the distance, or get an occasional visit from a deer or a wild turkey.
We are on a gravel road, but less than a kilometre (half mile) from the paved highway. We are on an acreage with lots of space for parking and turning.
Lots of space for both rigs and tow vehicles; parking will never be an issue unless we've had a great deal of rain.
We are available most days in the spring, summer and fall, though we do go camping from time to time. Send us a note and we'll see what we can do. Location is not available from December to April due to ground conditions (snow, mud, limited movement).
Peterborough lift locks; Trent Canal; Fenelon Falls (a very pretty small town); Lake Simcoe; lots of outdoor activities available. 90 minutes south to Toronto; an hour north to Haliburton Highlands.
Good boating, fishing, ATV, biking and hiking trails. Some local permits may be required.
Lots of smalltown fairs and outdoor concerts over the summer months.
Fenelon Falls and Lindsay (both within 15 minutes) both have good shopping for groceries, gas, TSC, Canadian Tire, Giant Tiger and numerous independent shops. Live theatre and cinema in Lindsay.

I'm late saying thank you but it's very sincere. We enjoyed 3 great days ....couldn't have been better.
Lots of space.....lots of walking trails....our hosts were very welcoming and invited us to share a campfire with them.
We had some great visits but plenty of quiet time as well.
Campnuts really know how to host.
A definite return visit is in order.
This location is quiet and peaceful. There was no noise except for the birds, squirels and the wind in the trees. We were met by the very nice owners who guided us to a large and level grassed area near a large vegetable garden. There was plenty of room to park and turn around. There was also walking trails on the property. This location is highly recommended.
Thank you very much for allowing us to stay with 3 year old granddaughter. So nice for her to get out, as she has been locked up since March with covid-19. Great little quiet spot for her to roam and discover . Thank you very much. The Islanders.
we came for a return visit to this beautiful property. The hosts are very nice and accommodating.
Was a very nice stop over.
A beautiful property over 100 Acres!
Our host lead us to a very private spot next to an amazing garden.
Was a very relaxing and quiet stay, would recommend to all...
What a wonderful location. Amazing hosts and beautiful property with gardens and pond. Our first boondock and we loved it !
This was a first boondocking experience with ours hosts at Campnuts. Wonderful and helpful hosts. The site was peaceful and serene and very comfortable. Rate these hosts and site 100 out of 100.

We had a great stay with Campbuts. We were invited to their bonfire and enjoyed our conversation. Very secluded spot for us to park. Lots of stars at night and very quiet for sleeping. Highly recommended!
We stayed with Campnuts for two nights with our two children and had a wonderful stay. We camped in a tree-surrounded clearing that had space to play catch with our oldest while our wee one scouted for toads and caterpillars. Our hosts invited us to a bonfire from which my son returned announcing "best night ever!" People like Campnuts are the reason we like Boondockers Welcome so much. Thanks for a great stay!
We just got home from a
wonderful stay at Lonesome Oak. The hosts were awesome and made us feel welcome. It is a large property and we stayed at two different sites. We enjoyed some conversations by the campfire and would highly recommend a stay with Campnuts!
We enjoyed the evening with our hosts. We had a lovely camping spot with flowers and vegetables surrounding us. The location was very quiet and we had a good sleep. They have a wealth of information on off the grid living. Lots of camping tips and boondocking tips. Gordon & Anne
Ils sont des gens accueillants et leur site est magnifique. Les moustiques étaient très présents.
We really enjoyed our stay despite the weather. A beautiful property nice hosts. Wish we could have got to know you better. Maybe another time.
We enjoyed a quiet and relaxing couple of nights at this beautiful country property.
The hosts met us and helped get us situated close by the garden area. The carefully groomed grounds were a treat to walk our dog (could have done without the pesky misquitos, but what can you do). Unfortunately we didn’t get to chat with Campnuts too long as they had a busy weekend planned themselves. Hopefully next time! Thanks for a wonderful stay.
Our second host eill have big shoes to fill. The hosts were kind, helpful and well organized. Their homestead is very karge and in immaculate condition. We had a quiet night with views of the trees and fields. The hostesses even made us a hand drawn map of local swimming holes which we will treasure forever. If they'll have us we'd love to stay again.
We were met on the road by our hosts and were escorted in. Oh my, it was exciting. It was clear to see pride of ownership and respect for the environment. We were lead through the forest and past beautiful gardens and were shown where we could park. After we parked we met our hosts who greeted us with warm and genuine smiles. The location was serene and just what the doctor ordered. The first day we did absolutely nothing! Our hosts were gracious and let us stay an additional night then originally set out, so that we could explore. We had some time to chat but if we get to go again I would love to hear more of their adventures and to find our why the land is called ‘lonesome oak’. Staying on their land makes you feel special. Thank you campnuts!
Campnuts met us and showed us where to park. It was a beautiful spot. He showed us where the trails were and we took advantage and really enjoyed exploring in the morning!
We spent three nights with Campnuts last week and it was a terrific visit. The property is gorgeous with big woodlots, numerous paths and open manicured trails with plenty of room to maneuver and park the largest RV. They were very friendly hosts and put on a bonfire for us. They welcomed our two large dogs who always travel with us. We set up camp near their large vegetable and flower gardens and we were invited to pick any flowers we liked when we left. The property is very quiet and the only noise at night was a few howling wolves off in the distance. Highly recommended!
We recently spent an overnight with Brad and Colleen who go by " campnuts" ...not only do they posses the most beautiful 100 acres of trees and atv trails, they try to live mostly off the grid. Brad led us out to the back of his property on his atv so that we could plck any spot we liked, to camp!.need less to say it was a pristine settng with lots of birds singing in the morning. We missed the howling of rhe coyotes but were assured that they are around quite often. We had a lovely evening around the fire with Brad and Colleen and two of the most polite grandkids ever!....thank you so much for your gracious hospitality!

We were met at the entrance, escorted in and invited to join them for a barbecue.
We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, a bonfire, good conversation, in short just a great evening.
We certainly plan to return on our way home this fall.
