Boondockers Welcome Protection Program

The Boondockers Welcome Protection Program provides liability coverage for up to US$1,000,000 per occurrence in the event of a third-party claim for bodily injury or property damage related to a Boondockers stay that is not covered by your Home Insurance Policy that you, as a Boondockers Welcome Host, must hold.

What’s Covered?

Protection Program May Cover:

  • Your legal responsibility for bodily injury to guests or others
  • Your legal responsibility for damage to property belonging to guests or others

Protection Program Doesn’t Cover:

  • Damage or injury resulting from something done intentionally (not an accident)
  • Loss of income
  • Damage to your property or belongings (*those should be protected by your home owner’s insurance)

*All Boondockers Welcome hosts are required to hold home owner insurance with basic liability coverage.

Your Questions Answered

Do I need to do anything to be covered under the Boondockers Welcome Protection Program?

No. When listing your host location, you will confirm that you have a home owner’s insurance policy with basic liability coverage included, which is the only prerequisite to being enrolled in the program.

This coverage is subject to an overall aggregate cap, and certain conditions, limitations, and exclusions may apply.

Are all stays by Boondockers Welcome members on my property covered?

Only stays that are arranged through the Boondockers Welcome platform are covered. Guests are limited as to how many nights they may stay with any particular host in a given period. Hosts can always choose to welcome people outside these limits if they want, but must arrange those stays outside our system, and those stays are not covered by the Boondockers Welcome Protection Program.

Who pays for this coverage?

Boondockers Welcome pays for this coverage on your behalf, with premiums based on the number of nights stayed at host locations by our guests. For this reason, it’s important that you, as a host, help us keep an accurate record of which stays did and didn’t occur.
